I lost my faith years ago and established my beliefs on atheism. No hate to Christian’s or anyone else for what they believe in, I just mentally could no longer bring myself to believe those same things anymore. Although my world is viewed through logic and facts and that all makes sense to me more than faith, my life has become darker and colder and the outlook is not good. What do you do with your life when you believe it’s all meaningless anyways? It’s songs like these that shake those beliefs to the core. And for a split second I can see it….I can see his light. But my brain won’t let have it. I can feel the warmth and embrace of it, but my mind won’t relinquish me. I’ve never shared this with anyone till now. Who knew that a UA-cam comment could be so therapeutic. I struggle with believing in prayer and a higher power, but could you pray for me please. An atheist asking for prayer. Damn. Pray for me guys.

I understand how you feel. It's not true. It's not historically true and as much as we (you and I) may wish it to be (for therapeutic, or nostalgic reasons?), it's just not. I feel like you. Once you understand the history of religion, you can't "go back." But for myself I allow me things like this song, maybe even a nice Christmas Mass, or whatever else. It doesn't have to true or "real" for you to enjoy it or get something out of it. Best to you.
