Wow. The body of this horizon is in too good of shape to be in a junk yard. Jee wiz. People are actually starting to find these appealing again and could go for good money! I betcha that 68K miles are original and it didn't roll over.
I'm from Upstate NY and haven't seen too many rust free examples of a 1987 Plymouth Horizon. Those wheels are stock and came with the car when it was purchased new 34 years ago. Whoever junked this must have been smoking a bowl in Colorado when they did because I would have paid $1,000 cash for a clean Horizon with 68k original miles. Had a former neighbor who owned one and he eventually sold it to a family friend of sorts who had the car towed to an auto repair shop. Needless to say, it was there for a year. When he got it back, the car ran for a little while and stopped running all over again. I never saw it again after that.
You've got a point there. I've been to a pick and pull junkyard where they had cars that were in running and driving condition for sale. Why this one wasn't saved by the junkyard is beyond me.
So nice to see these without rust. My big sister had a silver one in the 80's, sold it in 1992. I have some memories of going to Putt Putt golf and the mall with her in it. I've always thought they were neat, they bring back good memories.

Thank you for this vid, I was reading a slideshow this morning on Autoweek with similar ‘87 car in Colorado with many of these same options. Looks so similar and your tour is great to watch!
I had one of these an 87 horizon america. $6k made it to 157k miles. 2.2, 5 speed manual. I think this was the best bang/buck for a us car. My 95 neon was great as well. I actually miss them. The Fiat is not an acceptable replacement.
I still own my 1990 phymouyh horizon, I drove it up until 5 yrs. ago when the brake booster went out. Wanting to get it on the road again. I had a hard time finding the part. So it sat in my driveway fixing other things needed in the mean time. Here's where my trouble really started. Couldn't see the slow killer ( rust) on my under frame. Was told the shops here wouldn't help me. I'm not ready for it to see the crusher. Does anyone out there can help me please!? Owned it since the car was new.thank you.
early ones had vw golf 4 cyl. but this hit during 2nd fuel shortage caused by carter and gov. they could only get 300k engines contracted for and vw was selling rabbits as fast as the could. i drove both for a company 300+ mils daily co had 4 my did blow a transaxle seem they did not put a race for bearing they just machined the case. but we hot almost 2x the odometer miles than the same year Nissan Sentra 50 k the Nissans were junk and in shop sometimes for month. our cars had Chrysler 2.2 fast good on fuel later the business got so we went to ford aerostars cars were too small for load
@@jar407 interesting... the eu versions were made by Simca Chrysler France and had Simca engines/ gearboxes. Simcas were infamous for rust... eventually taken over by Peugeot and renamed Talbot.

shame, people are rebuilding rust buckets because they can;t find this one. the trim around the headlights and grill are in demand.
You're telling me. All 4 broke with in 36 hrs of each other this last winter 😵
Wish I could find a 84' Daytona or Laser in a yard as nice as that.
Family of deceased doesn't care. "Scrap car! Give us tax deduction!"

This car is one of the biggest piles of junk ever made buy one of the worst car companies that ever existed.
I alway's liked these 😀
in Europa Simca horizon later Talbot.
Yeah but not related n the euro L version. This is all a US Chrysler. The looks are there though.

Just a model year away from getting fuel injection.
Pretty sure this is a 1990, only the 1990s had ac vents in the center console
No it's an '87. 90's had the entire heat/AC controls in the center, which is what I think you're confusing the vent with. And yes, that only in 1990.
not special wheels standard I had the base horizon with a 5 speed
I can do a head gasket on the 2.2L in 4 hours easy to work on
Yeah , Those Head Gaskets Were Easy . Cheap & Easy To Fix
