Hosea 6 is referring to to the death and resurrection of the Christ, it's just not immediately obvious. Afterall, it was His death on the cross that paid for our sin, and His resurrection shows that we will inherit eternal life. By His stripes we are healed. When we are baptised into Christ, we die with Him, and are raised up with Him. So while the passage is speaking of Ephraim and Judah being healed and raised up by God, in order that they might live before Him, it is the death and resurrection of the Christ that acheives this healing. The Binding of Isaac forshadows God sacrificing His Son - notice Abraham believe Isaac will be resurrected, and tells Isaac God will provide the lamb, yet later a ram is found as a replacement for the boy, not a lamb. The lamb Abraham spoke of, that God would ultimately provide, was Jesus Christ. There is also the sign of Jonah, who was 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the fish - "Out of the belly of Sheol I cried... Yet You have brought up my life from the pit" - the theme of death and resurrection after 3 days is found throughout scripture.
Even as a Christian I'd have to admit that the OT does not explicitly say that Jesus would rise on the third day but there is a history of resurrection in the OT esp. psalm 16:10 and 22..

This argument that the disciples changed from scared mice to brave evangelists is so flawed. Firstly, the Gospels are literary fictions and can't be considered even slightly historically accurate. Secondly, people get martyred for the most absurd reasons. Muslims, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Shiite Muslims at the hands of other Muslims, Bolsheviks for their ideology, etc. This is a weak argument. Martyrdom for the "right" beliefs all depends on your perspective.
5:15 Rabbi attributes claimed to Huff that Huff (or the Apostle Paul) never made. Wes Huff didn't say that James and Jude claimed to be witnesses to the resurrection in their epistles. He is saying that they made these claims in their personal lives.
By the time Paul wrote his second epistle to Corinthians at least three of the synoptic gospels had been written, even Luke's was written as Paul quotes him often. The Bible records these things. The apostles spoke of writing their gospel accounts in Acts 6:2-4. Paul never even visited Corinth until Acts 18, which took place many years later. So when Paul tells the Corinthians that Jesus rose after three days "according to the scripture" he was referring to the gospels themselves when Jesus told His disciples what would happen three times beforehand.
Interesting. But how does that explain Luke 24:44-48 ? To me it looks more like Luke is channeling Paul. (Not to mention that either Jesus was mistaken or else Luke misquoted him.)
@@dantallman5345 I think in that passage the verses 45-46 are explaining that Jesus opened His disciples eyes to the meaning of Psalm 22 and Hosea 6:2 from their Torah. When Paul mentions it He is referencing this moment from the synoptic gospels to gentiles.

I recall reading a commentary about this (the discrepancy between Synoptics and John regarding the date of the crucifixion and of the last supper), and the author made a claim that Mark, Matthew, and Luke got the day and even the week wrong, because they were unfamiliar with the Jewish calendar and the specific customs around the Passover. But John gives a better account of it that is in agreement with the Jewish calendar and the customs, gets the week right too. At the time, Rome had already switched to the solar Julian calendar, whereas Jews continued to use the lunar calendar for their religious events, which only resulted in confusion that continues to this day. Try to schedule classes around Jewish holidays. Christian martyrdom… Gasp! Of course it's not in the New Testament. It's in later writings by Church historians, e.g., Eusebius (260-339 CE). Why do you, inestimable Rabbi, pick on children? Is it even legal? Pick on someone your own size… e.g., James Tabor or Bart Ehrman.

I'm pretty sure that Jesus is quoting the Old Testament when he plainly says, “For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth… and behold, something greater than Jonah is here,” (Matt. 12:40-41). If you don't want to believe that the old covenant prophecied the messiah would rise on the third day it's only because Adam who is a type of the Jews who were created first before the Christians is kept out of the Garden by a cherubim with a flaming sword. Only the sons of Eve, who is a type of the 1st century church, live in the garden.

The big problem is so much more simple. This is written in Greek. All the writings are in Greek from Rome.

Hosea 6 is referring to to the death and resurrection of the Christ, it's just not immediately obvious. Afterall, it was His death on the cross that paid for our sin, and His resurrection shows that we will inherit eternal life. By His stripes we are healed. When we are baptised into Christ, we die with Him, and are raised up with Him. So while the passage is speaking of Ephraim and Judah being healed and raised up by God, in order that they might live before Him, it is the death and resurrection of the Christ that acheives this healing.
The Binding of Isaac forshadows God sacrificing His Son - notice Abraham believe Isaac will be resurrected, and tells Isaac God will provide the lamb, yet later a ram is found as a replacement for the boy, not a lamb. The lamb Abraham spoke of, that God would ultimately provide, was Jesus Christ. There is also the sign of Jonah, who was 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the fish - "Out of the belly of Sheol I cried... Yet You have brought up my life from the pit" - the theme of death and resurrection after 3 days is found throughout scripture.

Even as a Christian I'd have to admit that the OT does not explicitly say that Jesus would rise on the third day but there is a history of resurrection in the OT esp. psalm 16:10 and 22..

I've been saying this to people for the past 5 years although I'm not a monotheist anymore. But the lack of Common Sense is becoming more and more prevalent in your everyday society. There is no eyewitness testimonies to Jesus being a historical figure. As much as these wannabe theologians historians modern-day Scholars want to come on here and debate they're actually making themselves look very stupid in the process.

Most of the books of the Bible we have to appeal to tradition to state the authorship. Very few Biblical writings came with the authors signature. No big deal. Matthew has always been attributed to Matthew. Moses to Genesis. Some few will object.

This argument that the disciples changed from scared mice to brave evangelists is so flawed. Firstly, the Gospels are literary fictions and can't be considered even slightly historically accurate. Secondly, people get martyred for the most absurd reasons. Muslims, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Shiite Muslims at the hands of other Muslims, Bolsheviks for their ideology, etc. This is a weak argument. 5:15 Rabbi attributes claimed to Huff that Huff (or the Apostle Paul) never made. Wes Huff didn't say that James and Jude claimed to be witnesses to the resurrection in their epistles. He is saying that they made these claims in their personal lives.

By the time Paul wrote his second epistle to Corinthians at least three of the synoptic gospels had been written, even Luke's was written as Paul quotes him often. The Bible records these things. The apostles spoke of writing their gospel accounts in Acts 6:2-4. Paul never even visited Corinth until Acts 18, which took place many years later. So when Paul tells the Corinthians that Jesus rose after three days "according to the scripture" he was referring to the gospels themselves when Jesus told His disciples what would happen three times beforehand.
Interesting. But how does that explain Luke 24:44-48 ? To me it looks more like Luke is channeling Paul. (Not to mention that either Jesus was mistaken or else Luke misquoted him.)

I recall reading a commentary about this (the discrepancy between Synoptics and John regarding the date of the crucifixion and of the last supper), and the author made a claim that Mark, Matthew, and Luke got the day and even the week wrong, because they were unfamiliar with the Jewish calendar and the specific customs around the Passover. But John gives a better account of it that is in agreement with the Jewish calendar and the customs, gets the week right too. At the time, Rome had already switched to the solar Julian calendar, whereas Jews continued to use the lunar calendar for their religious events, which only resulted in confusion that continues to this day. Try to schedule classes around Jewish holidays.

🛑 The Tanakh does mention a singular RIGHTEOUS SERVANT dying “FOR THE TRANSGRESSION OF MY PEOPLE” so obviously this can’t be the people as a whole or a righteous remnant because the death of the Jews has brought judgment and NOT blessing upon their oppressors. (Assyria, Babylon, Rome) The death of The RIGHTEOUS SERVANT however provides healing and an offering for sin (Isaiah 53) We know Moshiach will be a PRIEST FOREVER after the order of Melchizedek (Psalm 110:4) as a high priest he represents and bares the sins of the people before G-d and makes atonement for them.
I'm pretty sure that Jesus is quoting the Old Testament when he plainly says, “For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth… and behold, something greater than Jonah is here,” (Matt. 12:40-41). If you don't want to believe that the old covenant prophecied the messiah would rise on the third day it's only because Adam who is a type of the Jews who were created first before the Christians is kept out of the Garden by a cherubim with a flaming sword. Only the sons of Eve, who is a type of the 1st century church, live in the garden.
