This may just be the only scenario we see a restored GG1 run again. The voltage on railroads has changed since they were taken out of service, so if someone could set up an excursion railway to run these old electrics that would be phenomenal. You'd also need a substitute for PCB.
If only the workers standing around had started waving to stop but perhaps they acted as they would in real life and didn't notice. :) Very enjoyable video, love the GG1s
You also see the pantograph up while moving from its parking spot. I think this has to do with the way the model is rigged: when the locomotive moves, the program assumes this is because it is drawing power from an overhead line, thus the pantograph will rise.
Great work! Which end is the Front of the Locomotive? Usually indicated by a small "F". Good thing virtual models aren't solid or the pantograph would have been a twisted mess.
... and at 10:25, oops they did it again. By the way, what are the preservation volunteers actually doing? They are standing there folding their arms (08:07), gossiping (08:32) and drinking coffee (09:03), while "somebody really ought to do something about this". Astonishing that there is any progress at all !
Cute scenario but please put the pantograph down before moving the locomotive! Here's the deal, rescue the two in the woods in upstate New York, then grab the 4876 from Baltimore. 4876 is probably the worst neglected and most famous of all GG1's other than 4800 ("Rivets"). Use the two from the woods to cosmetically restore 4876 to historic shape and display her in Washington, D.C., preferably in Union Station. Put her under cover and maintain the restored GG1. One will never run again for a myriad of reasons, but it's a lovely delusion.
The GG1 sat lonely and abandoned at a forest until Gustavtime came along with Norfolk Southern #2340 to take the locomotive off the forest line and move it to the Gustavtime shops for restoration. It has a fresh new paint job and is fully operational. If only we could have a fully operational GG1 irl.
The whole reason for restoring a GG1 would be to allow it to run and draw power from the catenary system. Why wouldn't it be possible to retrofit a GG1 with modern equipment found in today's electric locomotives ?
😁Imagine Penn Central aka Norfolk Southern bring this GG1 back in operation in today's society. What a amazing work Gustavtime have done. There's no more words to describe on this.
@@michaelschultz5127 if I was rich I would instead by one that is abandoned and restored it to working order and restore it to working condition and paint it into its original scheme
Hi i am japanese i love this video bt what game is this and where to get it ..i have tsw and tsw2 on xbox but no dlc anyways why never they keept work on this tech,? We use evs for trains all time and few diesel
Nothing new about this: the GG1 concept locomotive dates back to 1934, using technology that was available in 1910. The production models, made in 1935, 1937-1943, had few innovations over the concept model.

actually there is a prr GG1 in prestean condition Pennsylvania Railroad PRR GG1 number 4890 on display at the National Railroad Museum, Green Bay, WI.
Another beautiful piece of railroading history restored and back on the rails
Your animation is exceptional! I clicked on, thinking it was a real GG1! Well done.
Amazing work. Very inspiring to watch. (There's one tiny flaw though; the pantograph 7:56 - the pantograph passes through the shed wall).

It would be great if the PRR Museum get 4935 operational. Of course, the transformers would have to match todays standards with current voltage.
Wow amazing job you did Gustavtime👍
It just look at the front looks have a happy face on it good luck and have a good day train 😊
Bravissimo come sempre!
In 1979 I made a trip east to see them before they were taken out of service.

Yeah it looks like real live
Finally, I've been waiting for this. I think it would be possible for a gg1 to run again if it was converted to a diesel engine
Yeah you’re right just fit a little engine in the middle
Could you imagine a gg1 running on the northeast corridor?
