Very cool. I added a published mix for the bump map so I can turn off the smoke moving at all. My settings were so extreme that I didn't even see the inside. Takes quite a bit of fiddling but very cool.

Very good tutorial, as usual. I would like to make an infinite loop background with neon lines (seamless). I know I need to use particles but I don't know how to give them a direction like left to right, or 3D from the background towards the camera. There are examples on UA-cam but they are with After Effect. Do you have any idea on that?
Hey Dylan! Love the videos! What kind of Font would you recommend for UA-cam shorts? My channel is a sports channel, not sure if that makes a difference. I have mostly the standard fonts from FCP
Dylan: I followed your steps and all works as you explained, EXCEPT - even with the drawn mask rectangle hidden, the shape of the border remains the same size and shape. I could squeeze my graphic into the shape, but couldn't get it to follow different objects as you show. Did I miss a step?
I should have mentioned in the video, but you’ll need to place the graphic into a compound clip first! Just slipped my mind while filming. Hope that helps!
Hi, Dylan! I just followed all steps, but my inner glow is not appearing when I insert the fx in some white logos. It's weird, but it appears well before to delete the rectangle mask, but when I delete it, just turns to very thin line, almost impossible to see.
Do you know how to solve it?
PS: For a circle colorful art, the inner glow appears normal.
Couple things I can think of.
1. is to make sure the stroke is set to “inner” and not “outer”
2. Is the blend mode being set to Add means it likely won’t show up very well on a white logo. Just change the blend mode to normal, and that should fix it.

hey, i followed through the tutorial twice (deleted my motion project both times to start from scratch) and still couldnt get some stuff to work properly. Firstly, the published parameters that you ended up with don't match what I ended up with in FCP, and secondly, the smoke has a cropped box around every clip i apply the effect onto in FCP. Additionally, the published parameters appear in a random order that doesnt seem to make sense to me haha. Sorry if this is a confusing explanation!
Hey Harrison! So the first issue you’re likely running into is that the object you’re applying it to is in a square aspect ratio. If you first apply it into a compound clip, then apply the effect, that should fix your problem!
For the parameter behaviors, they get listed in whichever order you publish them. But you can re-order them by selecting “project” at the top of the layers panel. Then you should see your different parameters in there. Just click and drag them into whichever order you see fit!

Create a Compound Clip inside of FCP! Basically the logo is likely a square aspect ratio, so FCP cuts it off at the edges. Throwing it into a compound clip conforms it to a 16x9 aspect ratio (or whatever ratio your timeline is in) and solves this issue!@@RevLevo2
Hey Dylan...this is weird but when I added "Fill" and changed the color, nothing happened. It actually stopped glowing if I changed it to some colors.
EDIT: Fixed it. I saved it right after adding "Fill", closed down Motion and opened it up again...and it worked.
Woah that's unusual! I'm not sure what could be causing that. The checkbox underneath the blend modes that says "Preserve Opacity" doesn't happen to be checked is it? I accidentally bumped that just yesterday, and it killed all my effects haha!
@@TheFinalCutBro Nope, not checked. Maybe my Mac is still trying to get over it's winter blues...but it works after restarting Motion!
