This tutorial really brings to life the concepts of tone and value for me...the shadows at the neck looked way too dark but once you started adding the hair, and the paint dried, it all came together. A true master at work!

I like that drawing. It’s amazing how bright the shadows are when the picture drys. I think when you layer the shadows, you have to know a lot about human anatomy. It ist great!
Shibayaki san...thank you for including the pallete colors ... very nice of you. I enjoy watching you paint, watercolor is one of the hard medium to control, but you do it with much ease. And i like your bright color expressions, the capturing of light and dark. Domo arigato.
«Today I’ll try to paint a portrait”. And nails it. When I try to paint smth it ends with a fume and shreds of paper flying all over the place. Damn it. Couple days later I watch more Shibasaki videos, get inspiration and try again... same result. I’d love mr. Shibasaki to be my teacher.
That looks easy but ain’t easy 😉 Every time I try to paint something difficult I watch over and over again until I feel more confident, it’s very helpful to me.

pretty much the best watercolor portrait I have ever seen. at least from a youtuber
人物画では正面図に苦戦するのですが、影を思い切り暗く描くことで立体感が増すのですね。水彩では乾いたら薄くなるので重ねて暗くすることがミソですね。色も10色ぐらい使うことで表情も生き生きしてくるんですね。たいへん勉強になりました。ありがとうございます。

私は人の肌を描くときバーミリオンとイエロー、影を青系で描いてましたが赤系と対比でグリーン系の色を使うのですね。またジョンブリアンの使いどころがいまいちわからずパレットで使われないまま残っていました。そのまんま顔の基調に使ったらベタすぎないかと不安でしたが、美しく仕上がるのを示していただいたので今度から安心して使えそうです。

1:45 水彩画の初心者はこのへんの壁を乗り越えるの難しそう、というかその前に避けて通らなそう
この時点をぱっと見すると、失敗というかむちゃくちゃになった絵とほとんどの人が思いそう
2:48 この辺になると、この絵を渡されたら即陰の部分を塗りつぶす衝動に襲われそう
でも完成図（色と色が調和された状態）が絵を描く前に頭にあるから、そういう「めちゃくちゃ」な工程も平気で通れるのでしょうね
5:00 ここまで来ると、さすがに素人目にももう「乗った」段階
「変な色」は下地と考えるとなんか納得できそうな気がしてきました
暗い色も、もっと暗い色を隣りで使えば、明るく見える
女性の顔は鉛筆でですが描いたことがあるので、柴崎先生の凄さが一番伝わってきました
