Gday guys, I've only dealt with 4x4 SUVs but my advice is to install an auxiliary trany cooler, especially when it come to autos, towing a heavy van, what it does is A extra cooling foot print and more oil, heat will destroy an auto transmission real quick.

Yeah, good ep guy’s, so shut ur eyes & floor it ay?! Hmmm. Deb is great for thickening soups & stews, Pea n Ham etc. A set (or 2) of locking diffs could be handy for some of ur trips to the desert, beach, snow & rocky climbs, might help you to conquer some of those dunes more gracefully.

Some people I know from nowhere Bound who's been doing touring of Australian outback with their Isuzu and 25 ft caravan lovely husband and wife and Carl was having a transmission overheating as well but what he done was he put a thermo fan on the transmission oil cooler he hasn't had a fault since

Next time when you get a shopping I know IGA have them but I don't know about other supermarkets you got your normal brown onions well they got them and they got the smaller ones which are called pickling onions yep they're still brown onions and the excellent when you're doing roast one or two per person

Hey there Nick and elenya can I suggest you look into AirCTI central tyre inflation, we run them on our big trucks and you can control the air pressure in your tyres from the cabin, it is brilliant. Keep up the good work the videos are always entertaining 👍

Great episode guys thats a good trip to do b4 the Simmo although there will be a lot more dunes to cross I looks will be going through the Flinders on your way may I suggest you visit Bendleby Ranges 4WD park it's on the way friggin awesome tracks like Billy goat, Pats peak put the big girl though her paces you won't be disappointed fire wood supplied drop dunnies visit the Craddock pub for a meal fantastic cheers legends ☺️

Had plenty of experience with auto's mainly cars but, when I was younger they rarely came with tranny coolers. As a result we used to fit one, especially on big engines/towing vehicles or track cars. High temps kill the tranny, might want to keep a check on the fluid too, to make sure it not burnt. I'd thonk about getting one myself, save money in long run.

It’s possible driving the auto in manual mode might make the transmission run a bit cooler in heavy slow going, just using the same theory we do in our ute. But I’m no expert. And as usual, just loving your channel 👍👍👍

Quite an informative video of what the truck and transmission are capable of. I decided on a manual transmission for our NPS on the basis of possible overheating of the transmission in deep slow sand. I didn't really know whether or not this was true, but subsequent reports from a couple of NPS owners I've met on the road running AMT on their NPS trucks confirmed this minor issue. A cooldown period seems to be the on the spot remedy, could be a longish wait if it was hot weather, but you wouldn't be tackling sandy stuff in great heat; would you....
You are right, Big Desert and Little Desert are very underrated. I'm wondering if you are heading north to visit Rocket Lake?

@@oldbloke204 Umm, Big Billy Bore camp is in the north west of Victoria. This is the northern camp site, while the southern campsite on the same road/track is Broken Bucket campsite. Murrayville to Nhill road through Big Desert. I haven't seen that flash lookout, must be a recent addition to the camp site area.

There's another new Forestry campsite up higher now as well.
It's called Berrook but there's not much about it that I could find.
Looks like similar sort of deal as Big Billy.
We've stayed at Big Billy and it's awesome imo but hadn't heard of Broken Bucket but I will check it out as we intend going back there.

Don’t take this the wrong way, I’ve followed you guys from the beginning and I don’t follow many others because they’re boring.
I’m a local with a farm in this area. I swam Lake Albacutya in 1976 for a fund raiser, my dad helped map out and build the Herman’s Hill walk you did to the lookout.
But….. you’ve wrecked those tracks. Parks are in charge of those fire tracks and they never grade them. Also these tracks are used for fire fighting and if they’re stuffed they won’t get fire equipment to the area. Potentially an environmental disaster, I’ve seen fire balls coming out of the big desert unchecked. Those wheel ruts will still be there when your kids are at University. I could go on. I’m devastated other people will do this now after seeing this. Our desert tracks will be f**cked forever. I just spoke to my son who worked for Parks at Albacutya, as he says, ‘once the track is rooted they’ll just shut it down’.Please take this post down

The mallee is so fragile. . The fire tracks were made decades ago for fire fighting well before the word tourist was heard of in our area. It’s not made for heavy traffic… literally
It’s great people are getting out there but it’s got to be treated with respect. Not have the guts ripped out of it
