"...if you aren't moved by that...you aren't human". True words! That MLK speech pulls on the heartstrings. We've come a long way, but we can all still work for a better world.
Great video, Brian. Thanks for sharing this latest adventure. Congratulations on making the decision to bail on that descent (@ 19:40). As we all progress in this wonderful sport, it is sometimes hard to say "enough". Smart to draw the line like that, particularly when riding alone.
Thanks for another great video, Brian. Love the history lessons. Just block those haters who call you stupid. You are such an amazing human being. I believe, you not only encourage people to bike more, you also make better people with sharing your world views with us. Thank you so much!
Grew up at Oak Mtn. and I still ride a couple times a week. They have a few new trails since your visit there. Also, they have acquired more property and planning more trails.
It's shocking how much of the lower-elevation Appalachians look the same. This is basically Pennsylvania riding: super rocky, not much elevation but frequent elevation changes. Feels like home!
Adding a like simply for the intro part! I know this is only a mountain biking channel but bringing people together is a higher calling. That being said, nothing like MTB to bring people together. PREACH!
Brian, your movies are great, because we watch something that the regular mtb-er can master. You make everything look possible. Keep it real bro! You are a inspiration.
Really digging your intro to this video. Reminding is important. A lot of signs around the world that we are currently moving backwards in this respect. Nice riding as usual!
I've got to say that this "series" of the 50 states is brilliant. Especially the tidbits of each state's history that you're putting in there. This is really impressive!
I've been watching Brain since Redemption in Fruita Co and Aex. And the one thing that stood out is Brian's ability to comment and give local history on the FLY while riding. I have yet to see somebody do what he does while riding. He does the research and is always accurate. It IS a unique ability in communication. I look forward to his travels....
I lived in Birmingham for a year. While I never road mountain bikes at Oak Mountain, I did go on hikes there quite often. It's a really nice park and anyone in the Birmingham area should definitely check it out.
Brian, your content is excellent! Love hearing the history about each new state before the riding. And I can’t tell you how happy I am you don’t play some crap ass music in the background. It’s NOT needed. Keep up the great work.
Great video! Really like your intro on the civil rights movement and its relevance today. Keep doing it your way, it it what makes your channel special. :)
Extended cut of you scoping that massive slab was sick! I loved hearing your process of accessing that. I’m loving the patrion perks 👌🏼the ego piece was a huge learning piece for me.
Glad you're taking the time to do things besides riding. So much to see in this country. My favorite random museums have been the WW II Museum in New Orleans and Crystal Bridges Art Museum in Bentonville.
I ride in the Chicago area all year long. When it's below freezing especially like 10 degrees, I'll have on two pairs of socks, plastic bags over them in mtb shoes inside cold weather booties with bike tights on, a T-shirt, long sleeve shirt, heavy shirt, and wind breaker with a balaclava on my head and either sunglasses or ski goggles. Crazy. Takes forever to get dressed and then strip all the wet clothing off when you get home. That's why we live with such high intensity during the summer! Can't wait!
The history that comes along with the rides are a plus Brian, you will have to share some history on the "Trail Of Tears" being you are in the region . Thanks for your efforts. Hey!Took the bike out for first time this yeah this past Sat. Felt real good to get on it.
Love your channel Brian, keep up being you as that's why we watch you, you and gmbn are my favorite channels and always get excited to see you have a new video out, been a great fan for years now
I bought a Whoop strap today... thanks for being the inspiration behind that. I've developed really bad sleeping habits over the years, and thought this may help me sort it out and get it better, and tracking all that other good stuff. Thanks for the discount too! keep up the great work.
thats awesome. I studied mortuary science in Birmingham and would ride oak man every week! I first rode it on my hardtail because it was the only thing that would fit in the cab of my tacoma but finally ventures out on my full squish later. lets just say that big rock roll was a little more sketchy on a 120mm hardtail.
Another gem. Great historical background of the area, and the riding and video editing was spot on as always. This tour was a great idea, and it's playing out even better than I expected. BUT....NO WAHOO UPDATE!!!! What the heck???
Regarding the sticky dropper. Probably has been said and checked, but make sure your have good pressure in there, there's a valve under the seat(you have to take it off) that you can stick your shock pump into and increase/decrease pressure. Make sure it's fully extended when using the shock pump.
There is a place in Tennessee that my friend has told me about. It’s climbworks in Cosby Tennessee however they don’t allow own bikes but they will give one that fits your style.
I recently got spine surgery and have healed enough so that I am able to go to the gym and ride the stationary bike, watching your videos really helps me to get through the dullness of using cardio equipment at the gym! I should be ready to ride when the season starts here (Maine) in about May. I really enjoy your videos and general outlook on things! Keep up the good work. “Be who you are and say what you want, for those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.” -Dr. Seuss
Great video Brian! As a history teacher, I love the included history here. Also screw all the nay-sayers. Just keep doing what you are doing. Don't let a few rotten apples ruin the sweet fruit for everyone else.
Always fun watching people do videos on places you've been to. As far as Jekyll and Hyde goes, I can't say I love the rocky part (Hyde), but I find the smooth, flowy part (Jekyll) to be a lot of fun. People that don't enjoy it must not be going fast enough.
i take my daughter to an all Girls camp north of B'ham every summer, outside of Ft Payne, i've ridden in DeSoto state park there....so dumb i never ltried to ride outside B'ham...now i did drive one yr after dropping her off to Cloudland State Park in Georgia, seems like its always damp in that part of the country!
F#%k those guys with the dumb comments! Your living your best life on your time and haters gone hate! Im just happy your still riding and not letting sponsor's take over your channel! Keep up the good work Brian!!!!!
You are absolutely correct about the northeast. Tons of granite, and tons of tech. I really hope you get to Dog Town in MA, XC style trails with more jank than you can imagine. I think you’ll love absolutely it, but you won’t find much of it on Trailforks.
Nice Brian! I still have yet to check out Oak Mountain. I just recently launched this new channel and kicked things off with a Coldwater episode just down the road from there. 40 miles of sweetness. I'll have to get over and check out OM soon. Let me know if you come through Chattanooga and want a guide. Raccoon is my home trail and a good TN spot to hit up for sure! The newer Whiteoak DH/Jump trail is pretty solid as well and just 30min from Raccoon.
I had to pause the video before the riding even began to thank you for being such a good human. Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
I started watching for fun but now I own a mountain bike and go out every day
That's awesome! Keep shredding
this is the way
That’s how the addiction starts
Idek can you sub to me ?
Same here! Well, not everyday yet but I'm working my way up to it
I’m loving the bit of history before the riding starts. Quality work Brian 🤙🏻
72yr old Grandma from New Zealand, love your videos,I have a few goes at our Mountain Bike Park in Rotorua but not up to jumping!
Love the opening commentary man. Way to leverage your platform to remind us of the most powerful force in the universe: love. Much respect. 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽
Am really enjoying the historical aspect you're putting in you videos. Great content.
"...if you aren't moved by that...you aren't human". True words! That MLK speech pulls on the heartstrings. We've come a long way, but we can all still work for a better world.
HELLUVA PAIR O BUNS ON IM!!! Thanks for throwing in the culture stuff in with the riding! Really adds to the videos!
I saw your van leaving as me and my dad were approaching the parking lot. It was like 3 weeks ago.
Great video, Brian. Thanks for sharing this latest adventure. Congratulations on making the decision to bail on that descent (@ 19:40). As we all progress in this wonderful sport, it is sometimes hard to say "enough". Smart to draw the line like that, particularly when riding alone.

Thanks for throwing some local history into the mix, very cool. Those were some legendary line choices haha!
Really glad you enjoyed Boulder Ridge. It’s one of my favorites at the park
Love the history lessons! That kind of stuff makes me want to travel and learn about all these places! Great by product of biking the best trails! 👍👍
Grew up at Oak Mtn. and I still ride a couple times a week. They have a few new trails since your visit there. Also, they have acquired more property and planning more trails.
I love looking at those trails And being like “I’ve ridden that and that and that”
Same, what's your favorite trail at Oak Mountain?
Probably thunder. I’m a big sucker for the flow trails but I love some good tech
Jacob Huwaldt I like the flow trails too, I think I have to agree with you on lightening
@jake. You're not that special..... NERD😂😂😂
Get out of here you Civic driving goon
What a wonderful opening to your video. You can hear the passion in your voice. Keep the fires burning.
Thank you for the quick history lesson and for taking us along on all your awesome rides!
Bk your services to mountain biking underlined by your humanity is truly inspiring, I hope, one day to see you on the trail
It's shocking how much of the lower-elevation Appalachians look the same. This is basically Pennsylvania riding: super rocky, not much elevation but frequent elevation changes. Feels like home!
Pretty much the same!
I was thinking the exact same
it’s pa without leaves
Adding a like simply for the intro part! I know this is only a mountain biking channel but bringing people together is a higher calling. That being said, nothing like MTB to bring people together. PREACH!
Oak Mountain is a awesome park
You are very inspiring BKXC! Keep up w/.....well, keep on being you. Love the videos!
These are my home trails glad to see you riding them you rode some good ones
Brian, your movies are great, because we watch something that the regular mtb-er can master. You make everything look possible. Keep it real bro! You are a inspiration.
Thank you in particular for the Civil Rights Institute shout out and in general for sharing your mtb stoke via these excellent videos! Bravo!
Glad you finally made it to Bama and enjoyed it! I need to get up to Oak Mountain myself.
Good work on the introduction Brian, we must never stop reminding ourselves of our history.
Watching your videos will get me thru the next 6 weeks while my collar bone heals.
It’s tough to ride everything you did in two days! Great video. Glad you enjoyed Alabama.
I haven't even watched the riding yet and I want to tell you that... this...is....AWESOME!! Thanks for this series!
Good stuff BKXC. To hell with the negativity - you be you, and keep up the good riding. Appreciate all of these videos.

Really digging your intro to this video. Reminding is important. A lot of signs around the world that we are currently moving backwards in this respect. Nice riding as usual!
Thank you for sharing a bit of history, it is especially welcome during these turbulent times,
The biking is fun too, of course!

Nice BK. That police dog sculpture with the path through it is brilliant ...have to visit if/when I get back to the States.
Extended cut of you scoping that massive slab was sick! I loved hearing your process of accessing that. I’m loving the patrion perks 👌🏼the ego piece was a huge learning piece for me.
I knew you'd go to Oak Mountain! Such a great spot. It's some of the best trails within 4ish hours here in MS.
Nathan Boyle yea ms doesnt really have any good riding besides zion. I went to Montgomery pretty much everyweekend when i was there
Nice vid and thanks for the historical reminders. 👍👍🙏
Oak Mountain is Awesome!
Absolutely loved the intro, and I love the videos. Mountain biking has because a new hobby of mine since watching your vids!
Glad you're taking the time to do things besides riding. So much to see in this country. My favorite random museums have been the WW II Museum in New Orleans and Crystal Bridges Art Museum in Bentonville.
Boulder to thunder to lightning, my go to, glad you went back for them! 🤙

The amount of times I’ve rode at oak mtn, I immediately recognized where he was the second the trail started.
Dude, awesome intro. Kudos!
Great episode, brother! Keep up the great work! Such a cool project you're working on, all 50. You can do it!
Love your channel Brian, keep up being you as that's why we watch you, you and gmbn are my favorite channels and always get excited to see you have a new video out, been a great fan for years now
Love the rocky sections! Can't wait to see where you go in PA! 412
I've ridden bikes all over the west, and Nrn Alabama is still some of my favorite riding in the world!
You’re on the right side of history, Brian. 🇺🇸
Hellz yeah! My home town trails. I love Oak Mountain!
I had a bike race there a few years ago. One of the best trails I’ve done. A few of those trees have caught my hands too😂
Like the videos of the states because its somthing I can actually achieve thank you
Thanks for checking out Oak Mountain! Its the closest "big" park near me, I definitely wanna go try it
Amazing social commentary!!!!!! Great human, you.
You are doing an amazing job! Truly an inspiration and by far my favorite mtb youtuber. I will soon join patreon too!
Take care and happy shreds!
I bought a Whoop strap today... thanks for being the inspiration behind that. I've developed really bad sleeping habits over the years, and thought this may help me sort it out and get it better, and tracking all that other good stuff. Thanks for the discount too! keep up the great work.

Awesome Rock gardens. Ride safe Brian!
loved the intro!!
19:46 That's why I follow you. Smart decision making backed with situational awareness.
Another gem. Great historical background of the area, and the riding and video editing was spot on as always. This tour was a great idea, and it's playing out even better than I expected. BUT....NO WAHOO UPDATE!!!! What the heck???

That started off so mellow, but gradually turned into a pretty nice ride!
I live 20 minutes away from oak mtn and I think it is the coolest thing that you rode there
...keepin it real...and shredding. Nice work.
Thank you for this episode. Mountain biking is the best, but it’s nice to take a step back and remember that it’s not the most important. Peace, dude.

Really enjoyed this one, seeing your ride on trails I know. Lighting is my favorite trail out there.
Great video Brian! As a history teacher, I love the included history here. Also screw all the nay-sayers. Just keep doing what you are doing. Don't let a few rotten apples ruin the sweet fruit for everyone else.
In a nutshell , yep , give no energy back to the detractors , they do not HAVE to watch .
Really fun looking trails. Take the time to see the country, your doing something not many people will ever be able to do.
Always fun watching people do videos on places you've been to. As far as Jekyll and Hyde goes, I can't say I love the rocky part (Hyde), but I find the smooth, flowy part (Jekyll) to be a lot of fun. People that don't enjoy it must not be going fast enough.
Reallllly cool to see you riding my home trails and talking bout my city.
Finally a quality video of the trails I love
My heart was in my throat watching you roll down those rocks! 🙈
i take my daughter to an all Girls camp north of B'ham every summer, outside of Ft Payne, i've ridden in DeSoto state park there....so dumb i never ltried to ride outside B'ham...now i did drive one yr after dropping her off to Cloudland State Park in Georgia, seems like its always damp in that part of the country!
But i love the rocks and woods compared to North Texas "flat and cementy"
You're a good dude!
Great intro! Gutsy and required right now when many are trying to forget the past.
F#%k those guys with the dumb comments! Your living your best life on your time and haters gone hate! Im just happy your still riding and not letting sponsor's take over your channel! Keep up the good work Brian!!!!!
Great job showing off the alternate lines on boulder ridge. Locals can tell when someone gets the “good” beta 😉. Great stuff man
Awesome vid and history bits.
I rode that on a hardtail a while back. It beat me up, but there were excellent rewards for all the rocks
Great Intro
Love these trails! I’ll be there next week🤘🏻
That's some rough terrain you went through. That just shows the importance of having a good-quality mountain bike.
Your a good man Brian. Great speech.
YESSS some finally comes down to Alabama. I love oak mountain
You are absolutely correct about the northeast. Tons of granite, and tons of tech. I really hope you get to Dog Town in MA, XC style trails with more jank than you can imagine. I think you’ll love absolutely it, but you won’t find much of it on Trailforks.
Thanks for doing such an informative video. I live in Atlanta and have never been to Oak Mtn. Now I’ll put it high on the list of places to go.
Looks awesome, who knew the south had such cool stuff to offer.
Fantastic riding Brian complete legend...!
Wow, never thought that the 50 state Shred is 3 years old. Happy 3rd bday to Covid too🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great videos - Thanks for sharing historical background about places you visit. I am going to have to go check those cast iron buns some day! :)
Nice Brian! I still have yet to check out Oak Mountain. I just recently launched this new channel and kicked things off with a Coldwater episode just down the road from there. 40 miles of sweetness.
