FYI, you CAN dim the RBG on the sticks (and change the colour). In the pulldown menu hold down your finger on the "ambient light" toggle and it'll open the complete options for the RBG effect.
Screen bleeding was a legitimate issue. I was one of the first ones to order from Aliexpress. I had to fix mine with the replacement front panel Anbernic sent me. I realized the issue was that there is a metal plate behind the screen where the main board and battery sits. When you tighten the screws this plate puts pressure on the screen. Anbernic's "fix" was to just loosen those screws 😂. I would've liked if they used some small screw washer behind the plate as spacer. I used four tiny silicone o-ring on mine, and it completely fixed the issue.
I love how you populate it with the other devices, helps give a sense of scale. Really interested in a comparison with the Retroid 2s and 4. Really struggling to decide between the three.

I had the RGB30 for a few weeks and I really liked the screen but the rest of the powkiddy jankiness turned me off. This looks much nicer so I bit the bullet and ordered one, which was on sale for like $150 on Ali express
Been deciding on a smaller device and it was between this and the 405v. I'm leaning towards the Cube since it is 720 and that could help for when I want to play psone. For anything higher I have the Odin 2 and this screen is great for NES to GBA and ds/3ds.
Probably one of those devices where buying through Amazon would be beneficial since you have the option to return if you have the light bleed issue. However, it is very expensive with some going around $225-230 with some coupons from the sellers.

In those very specific parameters the Cube is definitely the better choice. But it also depends what sort of hardware you like. For me, the Cube has definitely jumped to the top of the list. But the RP4 pro is still my favourite.
Are you able to plug the xr glasses directly in or do you need to use an USB-C to HDMI adapter? On the SBCGaming subreddit, someone posted a thread about using Xreal AR glasses with the Cube, but they had to convert the signal to hdmi (and then back again to USB c for the glasses) to get things working. I'd be curious to know if it's as easy as plugging in the glasses for you. Sweet video by the way!

Are the shoulder triggers analog? Never tried emulating the N-gage... Interesting. Will have to look that shmup up. Still rocking the RG351P, which is still great for my needs, but want to upgrade to SOMETHING to play higher end stuff rn. Looking at Odin 2 and RP4P mainly... Idk what to get. D-pad important; I like shmups, fighting games and hard platformers (2D-stuff in general).
Hey. Well the dpad placement is annoying here but it's nice to have a joystick up top for schmups. I do think this is a good device for what you're aiming for. The Anbernic Arc is also a great one.
Hey man RP4pro is the best for performance. Rg556 has that great screen and ergonomics. And then the Cube is a sort of blend of all my fav devices (RP4pro and Powkiddy RGB30). @@adinwalls but I wanted to come to your birthday party! Lol Thanks for the awesome content! This console may not be for me but it got me to watch your content!
As I said on the short, unless you're using this for a lot of vertical shooters I don't see the point of it. The screen aspect ratio is ill suited for both 4:3 content and 16:9. It's a jack of all trades but a master of none. It's also weird to market this as a 3DS machine when it is clearly not powerful enough. Sure with a lot of the systems the RG Cube can emulate there are tweaks that can be made but most people who buy these handhelds I suspect do so because they don't want to tinker.
@@adinwalls yeah, the cube switches to the touchpad when I connect my Xreal air 2 pro and the electronic dimming works, but there is no sound and no image. It really is a pity, I also was hoping to use the cube as a mini console for the glasses. But at least there are some glasses which work with the cube.
Seeing a device like this makes me think that if Nintendo wanted to; they could make another variant of the current Switch in a similar form factor and with all the features of this device. Even in the wake of waiting for a next gen Switch 2 (which is rumored to be have an 8 inch screen); there is no way that thing is going to be pocketable at all, though still easy to carry. I would prefer a Switch device like the RG Cube to continue to play my retro Switch library at a quality that unfortunately Anbernic is inconsitent with. I have been purchasing Anbernic devices for the last 2 years, and while they really are neat on paper; they always have some QA issues that have made me realize just how much money i wasted on them; especially when a new variant comes out every 3 months. Ironic how much money one can spend in emulation products; when in reality i should just stick with whatever Nintendo offers and play my games legitimately. Yeah i am missing out on havjng every single retro game in existence, but enough of them make it to the Switch (or at least the ones I realy care about) and aside from maybe the dreaded joycons; the Switch does not have any of the overheating, battery, or any of the othe issues that these devices have.
Such a good point. Nintendo have always been the more playful brand and an 8 inch handheld does not sound playful. It would be so nice to have a small affordable handheld where we can get our games legally. I can't see a world where I would choose a Switch over the Steamdeck. But I would almost definitely buy a small Nintendo handheld to play all the recent lightweight titles.
Too be fair with this retro systems there was no such thing as aspect ratio. There was/is no way to measure it. Now we are just trying to put square screens in round holes giving them artificial aspect ratios. This is why some games look better in 4:3 and others 8:7 because we can get a close guess but it’s not perfect.
Yes I did a deep dive trying to educate myself the other day and came to the same conclusion. These games were developed to be run on scan lines on a CRT screen, not pixels on an LCD. In the end, I just love how good these old games look on modern screens.
This video is not good for confirming that i don't need this thing... And I'll go yell at you on reddit ad well for recommenting it. This being said... Great content! And really appreciated the comparison with the other anbernic devices, that do have quite a huge and overlapping catalog.....
I love how it’s MY fault that YOU have a retro gaming addiction 😂 glad you enjoyed the vid. I must say I haven’t been this captivated by a handheld in a while.
Dude there have been plenty of people get bad units from resellers, if you order this device you are basically in a lottery of screen with terrible odds & if you do get a bad one the customer support is horrendous
I havnt seen anything from re-sellers yet. Most the resellers sent updated units to reviewers before they started fill orders so it would be hard to imagine they even had the bad units to sell. I’ve had good luck with Anbernic service if I get directly from them which I did with this but I don’t have light bleed so I guess they caught it before mine shipped. I thought I would hate this but I love this handheld
Starting price should have been 160 which would have dropped it to 140 on sale. After shipping it would be me like 160... But that's so much better than 1 fucking 90+ for it
Fan fact my TV that Way bigger for device it was 720p And you that screen the one tenth off TV size have almost the same resolution 😅 that is insain. To be fer my PC monitor it was 1080p. And my phone resolution and my phone is also 1080p that is insin if you think about it. Because that mean my phone screen 6.67 have bigger resolution that my main PC monitor that 24 inches. And the my TV is way bigger for pc monitor is 720p.😂 To fer im happy with all those 3 monitors i don't compling. I just thought is fany that the small monitor which as small monitor have bigger resolution that Big one's 😅 And im surprised how company now days able to add resolution this big on small screen. Yea my TV old one i understand to be lower resolution but how company able to this mach pixels on 7 to 6 inch displays ?
How about you stop deleting comments calling you out for basically lying to your audience about the screen issues and encouraging them to buy it from the reseller who sent you a free unit? This is why the retro gaming scene is in such shambles, because certain reviewers aren't honest about (subpar) quality of some of these devices. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my Cube. But I would have waited to buy it if reviewers hadn't uncritically spread Anbernic's lie that only the review units had light bleed.
I have been following the news closely on this handset. Reviewers reported exactly what Anbernic stated, that the screen issues were just with review units only, issue will be fixed on launch. That didn't happen, sadly, and reviewers were quick to let the public know and call out Anbernic for being wrong. I watched basically every video posted about this device, no one has been glossing over the issue after 1st wave buyers started reporting the persistent problem. Some reviewers, like the majority of the public, are allowed to assume that the issue is most likely improved as time goes on, but we all take a chance with the quality of these handsets, regardless if there is a reported issue or not. 🍻
Huh. I almost never delete comments unless they amount to hate speech which UA-cam usually takes care of. I was pretty open about the screen issues here
@@tonyrosario1940 The guy in the very video you are commenting under is glossing over the exact issue in question (on top of encouraging his audience to buy it from the reseller who gave him a free device...a reseller who likely sent him a device with the best possible screen), and he is far from the only one. This isn't just an "oopsie", this is legitimately unethical.
@@adinwalls You literally say in the video, almost at the start (right before you basically do an advertisement for the reseller who sent you the device), that you "haven't seen any screen issues from people buying it from resellers like LitNXT". I mean, maybe you haven't seen or heard about it because...you have your head in the sand? Or maybe you're not being totally honest, because being honest would discourage people from buying it in general (let alone from your reseller)?
@@fuzzlebuzzle4718 I do not mean to argue, I agree that the screen issue was horrendous and I will be waiting a good while before I pull the trigger on the Cube to ensure my chances of getting a good screen are higher. But the majority of viewers of these videos are fully aware of these issues so I do not expect Adin to take time to go into detail about it when many videos have already posted about it, it would be a waste of time for the majority of viewers. He acknowledged with "quotations" that it wasn't just review units, it was subtle, and then moved on to his review of his working device. 🍻

Does the cube work with Viture XR glases? With Xreal glases it doesn't output an image nor sound
Yes it works with my Viture and Android is so cool because you can switch to desktop mode and use the cube as a mouse.
That’s very strange. There must be something wrong with their video protocol. Probably fixable with firmware.
This or retroid pocket 4? :) or maybe I should ask what the best handheld for ps2.
Well the answer to “the best PS2 emulator” right now is AYN Odin 2 / Mini. Second is the RP4pro, third is the RG556 / Cube.
Wait, is this the tech deeb alter ego channel?
What makes you say that?
My 405M just got a 5 second mention.. 😢😢
TV's were 4:3 games were designed with 4:3 in mind. Unless they were arcade games with 3:4 or taller
Games that were developed in od ratios was because of hardware limitations. They knew the final image would be properly stretched by the TV.
Odin 2 mini is king !!!!
Hehe. Truth.
@@adinwalls yeah you know... Need to pretend it's not MY own fault, lol. And yes really enjoyed the content, as per your other videos. Keep going :)
@frankysour thank you. Yes and us content creators will sit here pretending we’re not benefitting from a huge audience of tech addicts… 😈
Dude there have been plenty of people get bad units from resellers, if you order this device you are basically in a lottery of screen with terrible odds & if you do get a bad one the customer support is horrendous
Really, okay I haven’t seen any reports.
Glad you’re enjoying it
I have rgcube from Anbernick store and I buyed 2 hours later from the shop open for rgcube and my console it’s perfect
After june 2x, the manufacturer solved that problem. Wait a while if you want one, at least they are now selling "new batch" in China.
rgb30 L1 button has broken after 2 days…
Oh dear! I am sure you can find a 3d print for it hey?
The device does look amazing, but it's just not worth the price at the moment. Maybe on a sale.
Starting price should have been 160 which would have dropped it to 140 on sale. After shipping it would be me like 160... But that's so much better than 1 fucking 90+ for it
Hey Adin. I know your for the cube for free but do you know the customs cost to SA from Litnx?
Fan fact my TV that Way bigger for device it was 720p
And you that screen the one tenth off TV size have almost the same resolution 😅 that is insain.
To be fer my PC monitor it was 1080p. And my phone resolution and my phone is also 1080p that is insin if you think about it.
Because that mean my phone screen 6.67 have bigger resolution that my main PC monitor that 24 inches.
And the my TV is way bigger for pc monitor is 720p.😂
To fer im happy with all those 3 monitors i don't compling.
I just thought is fany that the small monitor which as small monitor have bigger resolution that Big one's 😅
And im surprised how company now days able to add resolution this big on small screen.
Yea my TV old one i understand to be lower resolution but how company able to this mach pixels on 7 to 6 inch displays ?
N-Gage. Lol. Just LOL lad.
Haha. Yup. Very nerdy. Very niche. I love it haha
The biggest drawback is touch screen
Touchscreen a drawback? How is it a drawback?
@@adinwalls a lot of people have sweaty palm and it makes the screen dirty and oily.
Oh I see
Ever?
Ever ever?!
looks so uncomftrable
Some don't like the form factor but I think it's super comfy
Beware of influencers who drive you to a reseller. They're going to give 100% positive reviews because they want you to buy through their connection.
ua-cam.com/video/uXD-FtGQlIc/v-deo.html
The sticks are garbage. Nothing can be done about them.
They’re fine for most games. For example I am having a blast with 3DS.
You should really try a snowcake I think you'd be even more blown by that device. Great video as always sir
Snow cake?
I proper love the look of it. It’s like a preschool play toy and I’m totally into it.
Hehe cool
