Yeah but...there's something interesting about it. Specifically what's at the core of this band, which is the friendship between the singer Jesse Hughes and the drummer Josh Homme. Right from the jump, Jesse hits a wrong note in the first riff. It shakes him a little. He visibly grimaces and you can tell he loses a bit of confidence, for the rest of the song he loses a bit of the timing and eventually loses his place on the fingerboard during the solo. It happens, but when it does, when his vocals start to become flat out of breath and a little lost, Josh sings louder and more pronounced in order to guide his friend and the audience through the rest of the song. Jesse notices and smiles and finishes strong. It's like watching brothers back each other up. Terrible yeah, but interesting.
Thats the joke. It all spawned from the band members encountering a drunk guy who called the scorpions death metal. They then told the guy "no, theyr'e like the eagles of death metal." and thus the name.
