    What a great idea for a series of model railway videos. Always interesting to see how people approach the build.

      Thanks Tony, it just seems to me there’s plenty of great modellers on UA-cam but doesn’t seem to be much for the beginner and the last thing we want is to put people off by seeing highly skilled modelling and thinking that’s what is expected.

      Cheers mate, this one is more of a mini series I was more concerned about completing before Christmas so filming sometimes took a back step.

    Great idea for a series of videos. Hope your lad knows how lucky he is to have his own model railway. 😀

      Thanks, yeah he loves it although I don’t think he realises how lucky he is to have an 8ft by 4ft one I could only dream of such a size when I was a lad.

      Very much so mate, especially as Father Christmas got him a class 91 to run on it

    A good introduction to the scales . I started with N then changed to OO I found it more reliable. keep up the good work and I've subscribed.👍👍

      Thanks for the sub, yes I switched to OO I found N was starting to get a get a bit fiddly for the old eye sight. Although I have kept my small collection of American N scale

    Was planning a OO9 layout for myself, but now my little boy is desperate for a model railway and I've inherited more boxes of OO than I can care to count!
    In a nutshell this series, combined with your previous series, are ideal for me! The long standing plan (that will inevitably change a hundred times) is for a small OO layout - possibly even a Hornby Playtrains - for the little one while I board the loft and build a large OO layout with a OO9 interchange to keep myself entertained!

      Well that sounds like an awesome plan, I’m glad my videos are helping. Love the idea of OO layout with a OO9 interchange

    Very good video - looking forward to the next part. I’m sure the series will inspire many parents to build layouts that will give them (and their kids 😉) a lot of pleasure running trains.

      Thanks Rich, I hope so. I’ve tried not go to in depth and hoping the video will help people with basics before exploring into the more advanced side of the hobby.

    WS thank you for the video, I know where to come now should my grandson request a layout, he already has Thomas and friends and enjoys visiting full size railways with his parents and grandfather so who knows.

    Can you show how to lay flexi track for a bend ?

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  Рік тому

      Certainly can have a look at doing that, if you look for my rebuilding Burford road video I talk about how to lay a transition curve in flex track you may find this useful.
