Wow, so much hate... I actually liked Reflex guard, I was a little upset, but I can't do anything about it.
I've been an Orochi main since launch, and the lack of reflex guard just feels... wrong!
The assasian gaurd was made for pretty much a entirely differnt game. For honor is basically a new game now. They could maybe make fire attack bashes and grabs punishable by heavies that are thrown like a parry.
And if you can do unique executions with each update for each character that will be awesome

Considering Gladiator has a guard stance switch much like other shield-havers like Conqueror, giving him no reflex guard I feel is gonna make him alot better at defense (Also depending on how guaranteed a toestab off a block is). Super excited in that case to pick up an old main!
I actually quite liked reflex guard. Personally, it added an extra level of both depth and skill to assassins and the game as a whole. Though, I understand an overwhelming majority of the community felt differently. It may sadden me that reflex guard is gone, I'm happy that the majority of players will be happy.
I loved reflex guard lol.
It was fine in the early lifespan of the game, but it's incredibly tedious in the more faster paced gameplay today. Will kind of miss it in a way, but still glad it's gone.

It made sense in early seasons because Assassins had certain advantages that they no longer hold. Makes no sense that one class has a whole disadvantage

Reflex guard is literally pointless seeing as other characters can swing just as fast and have just as many combos and hold their guard all day
I'm going to miss this mechanic, at least, for players who like it, there should be an option to enable and disable the Reflex guard

are they really reusing warden side guards animations for orochi? or am i jsut crazy?
The initial switch, maybe, but the main stance is a bit different. His hands are further forward instead of hugging the crotch, and Roach keeps the blade tilted a bit. Warden's side guards are hunched down, while Roach's back is mostly straight.

I really dislike reused animations usually but this one looks perfect on Orochi so even if it is reused I don't care

It was a concern before, because somehow within the game code deflects were built around reflex guard

@@valem1931I mean, we already have heroes like Valk who can deflect with static guard, so I doubt it will be that buggy. They mentioned in the stream a majority of the problems were having to reanimate everything like walking and blocking, which would normally reset due to reflex guard.
It’s funny how people keep saying there making the game broken by removing reflex guard💀 people need to stop complaining. They just gave so many hero’s new life. a lot of the assassin suffered heavily from the reflex guard after the core combat update.

With the state of the game now reflex guard has no place and is just handicapping you.
This is a massive buff to all assassins so I hope the other heroes are getting buffed in some way.
The others don't need it. Assassins (minus a few exceptions) were just underperforming because of it, and now it's more even.
Not necessary. It used to be Assassin's were much faster with basic attacks, so reflex guard was a necessary tradeoff. But ever since basic attacks were all made "around" the same speed, their reflex guard made them much weaker by comparison.

I found this issue of removing the Reflex guard a bit annoying, but I can't do anything about it...I'll miss the animation. Honestly, the Reflex guard made it more realistic.
@matheusandrade1260 that's my gripe with the update as well, i really liked the animations, and now it's so weird to see the gladiator holding his shield up

Ah yes, removing animations, what a great time to be alive. Removing mechanics is a great thing to generate hype.
reflex guard has no place in the current state of the game this a great change an actually makes assassins' far more viable now
If it's a bad mechanic then yes absolutely remove it.
Unpopular opinion, they should have taken away static guard instead and made everyone have reflex guard. Edit: BUT props to the team for this massive effort!! We appreciate the work. As someone who's played since the first public beta and really only plays reflex guard heros, getting used to static guard will be an interesting transition, but ultimately.a buff! Just need to think a little less reactionary now and try to utlize it
Removing reflex guard is just wrong, assassins are already the strongest heros with the best mixups.
