Im in London so fortunately none of my animals have been exposed to the sound of guns but when we have fireworks or storms they look to see my reaction before they have theirs. I acknowledge that there has been a noise but not fearful of it, so they stay calm and even sit in the garden with me on fireworks night, thats my dog and cats. I was pet sitting a pug and a staffy for a friend one fireworks night and she was concerned about not getting calming meds for her dogs in time. When she came home, we were sitting watching the telly together like it was a normal night. When the bangers had gone off, they looked at me and I just turned the telly up a bit louder to muffle the noise somewhat then they laid down.
What about a dog afraid of everything everyone and every sound including quiet sounds like a disc drive or chirping birds from far away…children playing…peoples voices on the phone…the dog knows the difference from UA-cam videos and rarely cares. The real thing sends him into a panic attack (panting, drooling, trembling, shaking, falling over or shutting down and defecating) is there hope?
