6.4-litre HEMI V8
350kW and 637Nm
Eight-speed auto, rear-wheel drive with LSD
0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds (as tested)
1/4 mile/0-400m in 12.9 seconds (as tested)
Chrysler has given the characterful 300 SRT and healthy refresh, with more power, more refinement, and more equipment. Is it still one of the best barnstormer bargains of the decade?

Sounds incredible. Big difference in exhaust note from the previous 5 speed. Well done to the team at SRT for putting so much effort into a model they don't even sell in the USA.

It’s not a muscle car! It’s a high performance sedan nothing else
Awesome car, sounds so nice
I bet with a nice set of tires you can get that thing to hit 4.6 sec to 60. I def looks capable of doing that. Pretty fast for such a big car.
Ive done 4.5 secs in mine with 275/40 on the stock rims....cheapo kuhmo tyres
god, I love this car, why couldn't they make a handful of them in the USA. it pisses me off.
because you guys get everything else Chargers and Challengers and such....
+Josh Jones would much rather have this.
+Josh Jones right but, same here, no challenger, because I grew up in a Ford mustange (family of 3). so I learned a lot, meaning a coupe is limited. charger is a last resorts if u wanted a cheaper for 4 door. the 300 looks better to me and it add one more choice the luxury performance that most people liked.
where are you from? you don't have the new hellcats or anything? just curious
+HIMI2003 true, but you can probably get a hellcat for the price of what we pay for these 300's, but that's just the Australian car market in general not just this in particular
I blacked out the reflector on top of the wheel well makes a big difference on my black SRT 2013 with 11k miles
What did you use to black it out? Only thing i don't like about em!
Finally making enough to get either a hsv or this. This beats the hsv in sound and quality of engine build. Looks like I'm getting a Chrysler for my Xmas gift this year.

Should change the setting in the dash so that it lights up red when it's time to change gears. I know it doesn't do anything but it looks pretty cool having the edges all light up

This thing pulls the same times as the previous model CORE.
Edit: 2020 - I've since purchased a new one just like the one in the video, with a Mopar exhaust.
I reckon it's cause it doesn't have the adaptive suspension and steering in track mode. I'm doing 4.7 in the flagship hyperblack
Loved your review of Golf R and STi. Any chance you could do the same for the SRT8? Considering buying one of these once I am done with my SSV
I love this car, I have a Chrysler 300, is beautiful my Car.

+4dshow Thanks for the feedback. We are on the verge of incorporating more test data in the near future. Stay tuned!
ahhh the SRT . My forbidden fruit !
Those upshifts are gunshots.
thanks for testing this car.
Oh ffs, another great car the Aussies get in RHD but the company don't bother supplying to the UK. Thanks Chrysler/Fiat.
Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge**
Pepe The Frog Dodge doesn't make anything I want apart from the Viper which is LHD only so the Aussies don't get that. Jeep sells the Jeep SRT here in RHD. All of those brands are owned by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, hence me saying "Chrysler/Fiat".
+FROOB202 well, I highly doubt they do, but does dodge happen to sell RHD challengers or chargers there?
Austin Hughes You highly doubt they do what? No Challengers and Chargers are LHD only as far as I know. Dodge left the UK completely a few years ago so anything sold here has to be specially imported in US spec.
FROOB202 I meat I highly doubt Dodge sells a RHD Charger and Challenger there.
I raced one plus he was modified i think thats why he left me bad, he probably was in the 500s. while my v6 was modified to push 320 plus weight reduction
I respect you for being honest and for not backing down from the race
It's the ultimate sleeper car for many. It's not a car you see much of in Australia since the last generation came out. The srt hyperblack only had 200 made a year for 16 different countries.
Man, swing in/swing away on EVERY SHOT? At least start your transitions earlier in the swing so we aren't seeing so much pavement/sky and actually keep the focus on the car....I couldn't even watch the whole thing, the swings were too annoying....
I usually just skip that part and watch the revs/acceleration. The first half is complete rubbish with the badly executed camera pan/tilt stuff
What a wonderful mad machine! :-)
Just bought a 16 Chrysler 300S V6. I love it. So basically this is my dream car at the moment...

look at that temp rise under acceleration but conserning
Its all good up to 120c
He needs to change that intake. Mine did the same till I changed it.
What is the in car idle db?
Is AWD faster than RWD ?
What's that noise in between shifts?
Im wondering about it too. What is that please somebody explain !!
Torque management. ECU retards ignition timing during the shift to reduce driveline shock and keep the trans (and everything behind it) alive. Pretty much everything these days does it, and GM at least has done it since the 4L60E first happened.
BallisticSniper1 Almost like DSG Transmissions

4.9.thats slow. I wonder if it's because it's the CORE model. It says it's in track mode. I find that strange as I didn't think the core had track mode seeing it doesn't have adaptive suspension, which pretty sure also means it doesn't have the steering either. So does track mode in the core just mean the transmission is set to track? There is nothing else that changes in track right? Except for maybe the open exhaust. You think the 4.9 SEC is due to not having adaptive suspension or is it just not being able to drive it right? (jokes on the driving) I ask because Chrysler say it does 4.5 and fastest I've got mine is 4.7. But that's with the flagship model where track mode releases full torque. So either yours doesn't or it comes down to the suspension and the stiff steering that the flagship has. However, saying that, you've only got 6000kms on it
I think they are just shit drivers 😂
Fiat-Chrysler should really think about importing the Dodge Charger and challenger with the 707hp engine, since the Aussie car industry is gone.
Savindu Wijesuriya what rock are you under. Ever heard of a hellcat
Jonah Nelms Stuff the Hellcat, they should bring the Demon now.
350kms to a tank? fuck that
says who?
i had the old model and go significantly more, my mate has the 8 spd model and gets 7.8L/100 on a trip from Melbourne to Shepparton return
That doesn't count, Australia is heavily urbanised and a huge portion of traffic will see the fuel economy on the higher side of their vehicles rating.
Don't these things have the function that shuts down cylinders during "normal"driving situations? Are those figures just what the computer is reading out for the way it is being driven at the time ie getting hammered.
Only shuts down 4 cylinders under specific conditions, I wouldn't call specific conditions normal driving conditions. With the 2012 and up V8 models they broadened the conditions so it would kick in more often. It'll kick in under low load, very low or no acceleration situations.
joytech22 But it IS a 6.4 litre v8 nearly 2 tonne,0to 100 in under 5 seconds let's be real here,it does not pretend to be anything else.
Its slow but is a big heavy car with n/@ engine many other rivals put turbo v8 or v6 like bmw and benz to keep the car light but this is a good car in love n/@ engine low maintance
Nothing slow about this. Mine feels like the front is lifting when I'm in track and pushing the pedal down. I think being the core with lack of adaptive suspension must make this slower than non core. Because his time isn't as good as it can be. You'd never think this was heavy driving it. I've had all three generations and this feels smaller and lighter.
Slow? lmao yet the guy in the video mashed the throttle without easing into it and still got 4.9, people get 4.4 0-100 in these stock
This stock exhaust or is there still a MOPAR exhaust option?
Andrew McColl this is stock. Any custom exhaust will be quieter than the active exhaust already on it
Midwest Mopars really....wow
Jonah Nelms yes really the only louder option is a muffler delete
Midwest Mopars good god
Too bad there isn't a Core version outside of Australia. Would save the extra cash since i don't really need most of what comes with the full package anyway. Why a sound system when you can listen to the V8 ;)
There's a fully loaded 2017 in exactly the same color with 94tkm for 32k €
Has a bit of a higher average mileage for the age....
What about the adaptive suspension and adaptive steering? You don't want that? That's what makes this car fun to drive.
@@privateperson299 Adaptive suspension isn't really necessary if you have a good setup or aftermarket coilovers. It also lowers the cost to purchase and repair if those parts break.
Just the active exhaust on my cheapo i30 Fastback N costs 1800€ + labor cost to fix i don't even want to know what the entire front suspension cost Hyundai to replace on mine which they did this year. Just the repair costs under warranty alone were almost 10k € on my car. Imagine if i had to pay that ourt of my own pocket.
@@Enforcer_WJDE I hear you on that but I've had two other SRTs with pedders coilovers and it just didn't compare to how much nicer it is being able to change my suspension to multiple settings with the push of the button. Also with adaptive suspension comes adaptive steering and that goes from having some give, to being super tight in track mode that you go around a corner and let go and the wheel basically goes back to centre. It's really tight with absolute awesome feedback. Which is why I paid the extra for the flagship hyperblack over the last brand new core in Australia. Just my experience though. My 09 was as modded as could be. The current model stock with a few basic mods is by far my favourite

Where to get those licence plate covers
Yeah I wouldn't mind them too instead of my crap ones. I'm after one of those LED SRT badges too for the front grill instead of my silver one. I got the srt puddle lights which look awesome at night. Srt for the front and huge mopar puddle lights for the back

Yes nice for a sport car or any other car but not enough for a luxury car like this one
Also the ac outlet design if it was circle with chrome it will look very nice like mercedes
Look at lincoln contenintal interior it looks nice
KP-48 i can agree but i also think the over all simplicity is great but however if they were to actually add full fledged luxury interior...perfect car (obviously im exaggerating but still it would be amazing)

Compared to the Euros they are absolete nuggets believe it or not, all noise
That's "FAST", I'm wit it, good breaking to, ISLAM Peace and Love!!!
The car looks nice, sounds great and goes hard. But I hear everywhere that they are unreliable as hell and highly prone to failure.
That was the 2012-2014 model. They since fixed that and made a 2014-2016 and then the new generation 2017-2020 which I've never had a issue with. Even my 2009 has 180,000kms on it and never a single issueue. Only issue I have on all my SRTs is the damn ballast under the headlight keeps going out
Cheapest version of srt, still better than dodge!
Cheapest version is the PACER. It's funny actually as the PACER made 50 limited editions that are worse than the core but still there is 50 of them in Australia. The same year there was only 200 srt flagships made for 16 countries making them rarer and they come fully optioned. You can't get options on the SRT Flagship as they just have every option you could have.
Well, its certainly more capable than that 0-100 and quarter mile.. The 8 speed is much better compared to the old 5 speed.
I'd say this is a bad-ish run compared to what I've seen and sat in on.
It certainly is a very nice car. Although, I'm not a fan of electric steering or the eight speed when it comes to repair/maintenance. The older model 5 speed has little issue, and also uses hydrologic steering, easy to work on but, I do like this beast.
Yeah this is slow and I think it's due to not having adaptive suspension an dsteering. I'm going 4.7 without launch control
If i could i would take this over the charger and challenger (maybe) but Chrysler decided to be idiots and not have them avaliable for america
Us here in Australia would take the Chrysler or charger over this but idiots didn't make them for Australia.
interior is very ugly for a high end car man.
