What can I say.... The most fun I've had on a camp in a long, long time Chris, it was so much fun man. That weather on the walk in was so grim I thought we'd be spending the fun night hunkered down pal but with the clouds parting left a stunning night ahead. Hey Chris, did you know that you can pitch the Elixir 2 fly-first? It takes a bit longer to do, but it's an option if it's raining. Peg out the footprint; put up the main, criss-cross poles; attach the spreader pole to the fly and fit the fly; then you can attach the inner from the inside.😉
Excellent video, captured the atmosphere well! Another tip from UA-cam for setting up in the rain, though I haven’t tried it myself. Requires some prep of a strap system beforehand but then can keep your footprint dry too. ua-cam.com/video/XeUtJVLViO8/v-deo.html Looking forward to your next video 👍

Great video. Just trying to work out where it was you pitched. I can see you climbed Great Hill coming from the Bolton Rd / Abbey Village side. I've done a couple of recent camps this month, on the Black Coppice side of Anglezarke, on top of Stronsy Bank overlooking White Coppice. Lots of ancient half finsihed Gritstone wheels lying a round, probably for a couple of centuries. I absolutely love this part of the West Pennine Moors. Nice choice of beer as well. Noticed at the end, youre' pretty close to the crosswalls shelter on the sunmit.

Fabulous sunset, I love these Forest of Bowland camps with the sweeping views to Morecambe Bay and the Irish Sea, they remind me of happy days at Lancaster Uni.
Cracking little tent mate - I think it's just a case of mind over matter - despite it lashing down, it only got a few drops on and most bead off anyway - the more you become familiar the quicker you can get the flysheet on - you can also just pitch the outer first by using the footprint as its free standing. Using it next week in the Lakes, had it up in the garden and really happy with the headroom / 2 vestibules and overall quality of it. Thanks for watching Phil - the Elixir 2 is a very 'liveable' tent - I guess the inner first is personal preference, but it wasn't really an issue on this camp despite the initial heavy rain - power bank is an absolute beast !!!
Great video, thanks. I bought one of those tents last year and I love it. It’s a bit of a handful for one man to set up in the wind but the space is worth it. Videos like this give me a bit of escapism to tide me over until I can get out again myself. All the best, Warren.

I have been getting more and more into doing wild camping, and I have decided to get the msr elixer 2 . This video is the one that’s done it for me . Give me a bit of time to get set up, & maybe one day will see you out there
Glad you like the tent, it's what we use. Got a 4 day trip planned for next month so hopefully you'll have the power bank video out before that, been looking for a decent one so look forward to seeing it.
Good looking tent but I now prefer a "put-it-up-in-one" type of tent. So much easier for wet pitches and when time is pressing. But good dome space and a wide front door opening great for colab' with a mate opposite. What a superb change in the weather - so lucky!! Your beer #3 sounded interesting - not sure it is quite my taste but I will try it when I can. Another good trip there Chris. Cheers, Warren :)
Cheers! I'm now enlightened because someone messaged me to say the Elixir can be pitched outer first using the footprint to erect the pole structure! So I didn't know that! Stout was superb and thanks for watching 🏕️👍
In my humble opinion the Elixer is one of yhe best looking tents on the market. I have a few MSR tents but the Elixer is my go to tent,i just love the look of the thing, i even had a footprint made for it that covers both vestibules. Great vid as always.👏🏼👍👏🏼👍

I had put an Elixir 2 in my GF's car a couple of years ago and I've had an Elixir 1 for motorcycle camping but was thinking of going to a 2 person tent for some camp outs on the bike. Other than setting her tent up for her a couple of times she was no help because it is just in her car for emergencies. Thinking about it now I might be tempted to switch her tents. The night before the morning after when you showed that you'd got 3 good strength beers then said "and some red wine" I thought "if that was me I'd be a bit rough in the morning " and i chuckled when you said we feel like weve been dug up next morning 😂 we all know it's not a good night's sleep you wildcamp for and you're always up at the crack of sparrow fart! I only take a 250ml titanium flask of whisky now, for the weight and hangover factor...You get to sleep quick enough after it and feel brand new after half an hour in the morning. Each to his own though pal, cheers for all the content

If you use the MSR foot print it can be pitched fly first.

The night before the morning after when you showed that you'd got 3 good strength beers then said "and some red wine" I thought "if that was me I'd be a bit rough in the morning " and i chuckled when you said we feel like weve been dug up next morning 😂 we all know it's not a good night's sleep you wildcamp for and you're always up at the crack of sparrow fart! I only take a 250ml titanium flask of whisky now, for the weight and hangover factor...You get to sleep quick enough after it and feel brand new after half an hour in the morning. Each to his own though pal, cheers for all the content
