I counted a hundred and eleven corner marshal points around the circuit and I'm sure I missed a few. Say five marshals per point, two looking up the track and two looking back and one monitoring the messaging system, times three shifts. Shelters from heat, cold and rain -- rudimentary. It's a tough job and they are not allowed to make mistakes. How much are they paid, are they unionized, are they local residents, do they have other jobs, presumably they have training and qualifications, is it a struggle to get enough marshals or is there a long waiting list, it's fascinating and I'd like to see a video about them and about the Abschlepp guys as well.
The 24h-rennen website has a page called "Organisation, Facts and Figures" which details some of this info. There are 960 marshals. According to the map there are 207 marshal posts around the 24hr track configuration.

@@generic9777 Thanks, although I doubt the number of marshals. 207 posts times at least 3 per post times at least 2 shifts and probably 3.
