Bought mine with Yukon 2004 SLT XL 1500 300k miles from 1 owner family man, tan / gold color for 1800$ pulled every single thing out, shampoo washed it, redid the headliner, front leather seats, new hood, pan gasket, power steering motor and so many other things and it looks and drives brand new, I just basically extended the life of it to 400-450k miles easy! I bought a 2001 Yukon SLE with a 5.3 Vortec last year after I survived a near fatal accident. I new next to nothing and I started doing research on the 800 platform and the engine. My buddy told me how they are tanks and can take a good beating and still power on through. I see at least a half dozen a day in my home town, so that tells me how reliable they are. My engine, whom I've named Frankenstein only has 69k original miles. I was blown away by how popular those engines are and how durable they can be. Do your maintenance and never neglect it. Take care of your auto, and your auto will take care of you.

I bought a 2005 2 owner post Covid Yukon XL SLE 2wd 180k for 4,000. Texas owned and zero rust. I did have to put about 2k into it, but it was mostly normal maintenance stuff. Knock sensors, airbag sensors, water pump, evap solenoid. I went ahead and did the brake flush, coolant flush, differential flush, transmission flush. I absolutely agree about the comfort and seats. I actually find this more comfortable, than a lot of newer SUV’s. If you buy one, get it checked out and don’t be afraid of maintenance stuff. Very nice truck/SUV you've got there, Used to have a very old version of this Suburban: a 1973 one but these things here are impossible to drive here since our tax system will punish you for driving a Heavy Large Barge like this. For this Suburban you've got there we pay road-tax $ 509,- every 3 months (so $ 2,036 every year) , gas is probably like 1liter per little less then 4 Km so like 1Gallon per 10 miles (=16 Km) so at our price of Euro 95 gasoline is like $ 1.95 per liter so $ 7.41 per gallon so at an average of 10,000 miles a year makes $ 7,410 + 2,036= $ 9,446 per year and then there is of course maintenance of $ 1,000 per year makes $ 10,446 every year.
So this grand car will cost you about $ 1,000,- every month here in The Netherlands, which explains why you don't see these kind of trucks/suv's here that often. It really is all about the weight of the car (road tax is based up on weight of a vehicle: the heavier it is the more you pay) and the gasoline prices here. So be happy to be financially able to drive this Suburban, many people would love to have one just like yours, but due to different legislation in the different countries, the wish to own one basically stays a wish to own one since owning one is virtually impossible in other countries like The Netherlands. And yet I do have a Fire Engine Red 1987 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc-Z28, 305 V8, manual gearbox, Convertible; all original, except the tires. Yes a true convertible: one of 744 build in 1987 ;-)

I've always thought Suburbans were cool from seeing them in movies. I believe the first movie I saw with a Suburban was Twister, which had a black square body leading the antagonist convoy. I started doing research and fell in love with the Suburban history from being created to serve military forces back in 1930s to still being widely used today for the same purpose including the presidential motorcade and secret service still uses the gmt800 platform today, which says a lot about how well they were built. I found my 05 Suburban Z71 4x4 for just $2300. Yes it's high miles, but I will install a crate engine when it's time and the transmission is shifting perfectly. It was supposedly rebuilt shortly before I bought it. I loved it so much that I didn't hesitate to buy the gmt 900 07 Yukon SLT 4x4 for just $2500 with 100+k less miles than my Suburban has. The downside is it has AFM, that will be deleted eventually. The Yukon is mostly a pavement princess. While the Suburban is my overlander/camper that also can tow well. IMHO the Suburban/Yukon XL does everything a person could possibly need while carrying family, friends and luggage for a vacation while towing toys for the trip. I'm glad I got mine before prices skyrocket up. I don't know why GM never offered the Suburban with the Duramax 6.6L, the new ones have a small diesel but that's not what real enthusiasts want. Oh BTW, have you checked out GM Defense website? They've been keeping things tight lipped, but the government has entered into a contract with Cummins. Cummins will be providing the government with 4 cylinder engines that produce 1000hp! GM Defense has the new Suburban which is offered with a 4 cylinder diesel and the ISV which also uses a 4 cylinder diesel. Those Cummins engines are going to find their way into those GM Defense vehicles. The Suburban can handle the 1000hp, I have doubts about the ISV handling that power. Just last week or so a fatal testing accident happened on a military base. They are being tight lipped about it, but I'm thinking it was the ISV with that 1000hp engine.

I bought a 2005 Yukon XL 5 years ago. It had 144,000 miles, and in PERFECT- garaged-1 owner- trade in at a GMC dealership ). It is in nearly original condition...No rust, paint perfect, body has 2 little "door dings"..... Bumpers are perfect. Interior immaculate, from bottom to roof liner. My only repair was replacing a rear door window assembly ( $80 bucks and my 1 hour of labor )..... I have replaced all fluids ( so I know the current history ).... Upgraded front brakes to "PowerStop" calipers/rotors ... but nothing was worn. The Yukon has 171,000 miles and STILL perfect !! The engine bay is 'showroom' clean.... I replaced the silly- designed air intake to the 'Airaid' and it has a nice sound, and easier to clean around it. Even though it ran good, I replaced the spark plug wires to the 'OEM style' but nicer Edelbrock wires. I love this "truck/limousine". ( I just replace the battery every 3 years because I live in S. My 06 denali has 341k on it and I'd seriously take it anywhere without hesitation. I had a 2014 denali with every problem from electrical to issues with the afm/dod. I cut my losses and got out of it only to pick up an 04 with low miles and zero rust. Sure it needs some things redone but I honestly don't care what it needs, fix it and keep rolling. The older ones are by far the best and most reliable vehicles on the road. Newer doesn't always mean better.

Had a '03 Tahoe with over 250,000 mi but it was all highway so it was like mint condition loaded to the gills and I traded it in and got a 2016 Silverado had it for 2 years. The transmission went at 80,000 mi and the lifter started ticking after I had the transmission replaced. Got rid of it and now I'm in a 2004 Yukon Denali and I haven't been a happier and I'm so glad to be back. And honestly three days after purchasing that 2016 I didn't like it not even as soon as I left the damn dealership and I really got to drive in it. Too many computers. The cylinder deactivation is disgusting. The transmission is horrendous. It shifts like a bag of hammers too many gears. The only thing that thing does is look good. 14 to 19 looks good. That's it. Nothing else and the motors are decent. If you delete the AFM and build your transmission day one other than that if hot garbage... Part about these old trucks is Amira is $30. A door is $60. A bumper is 100 bucks to replace the solenoids in the transmission you just dropped the pan. Change the fluid. Replace the solenoids for like 200 bucks. Wheel bearings will drive past their life expectant date by about 50 to 100,000 mi and they're still grease fittings and mechanical hydraulic power steering stuff in a real fan on the engine with a clutch....... The new ones are basically tahoes with a bed and solid rear axle, but at the same time they don't even deserve to be called the Tahoe because the original ones are badass. The only thing I wish is that they made a two-door GMT800 full size blazer

I am looking to buy a 02 Yukon SLT with 148,000 miles just waiting for the dealer to fix the bad oil leak and "squishy" brake pedal Pos Air in lines) and poor brake performance. ( Oil was dripping pretty good after test drive) hoping it is just a oil pressure sending unit leaking and not a rear main as if that's the case I will change my opinion big time for the LS engines no reason for a rear main to leak at that mileage and prob stop looking for anything with a LS motor. It had a new fuel pump replaced at 50k which is good.it has just a bit of rust on back lower left rocker that's it seems the SUV's dont rust as bad as the trucks as most of them have the rear fender Wells rusted out good and way more rust on rocker panels.
