      Question: do you focus on your power while you’re riding?

    Thanks Alex for not tossing your Uswe to the side of the road. Even if your reasoning was around having your tubes and tools with you, not litter. We always get a lot of flak from locals about “cyclists not respecting the land.”
    Good analysis all around to reflect upon as race director. Thanks y’all!

    Great interviewing skill set here Jonathan, offers a lot to learn in a very efficient format. Thanks to the athletes for sharing!

    Great information and content from you both! It was great to have Keegan's perspective on the race. Thank you for this!

    I haven't checked in on the UA-cam side of the TrainerRoad podcast for a while... Jonathan has become all GQ over the past year, impressive! :)

    I love riding in adverse conditions, if it was easy anybody could do it!

    Would his gear choice two instead of one ring in front changed his sprint result? Ivar had a 2x front ring maybe that helped his sprint?

    • @fatbloaterdave
      @fatbloaterdave 2 роки тому +1

      I doubt it. His hardest gear was 48x10 which is 45mph at 120rpm

    • @MTBkid42
      @MTBkid42 2 роки тому +2

      48x10 is pretty hard gearing, lots of roadies will run a comparable 50x11 and that's plenty to sprint with.

    Jonathan, would love to hear about how the pros navigated the mud at mile 125(ish). By the time us Joes got there, it was completely unrideable! over a mile of hike a bike.

    • @EliCriffield
      @EliCriffield 2 роки тому +7

      They hit it before it turned to mud, there's a strava segment called "Peanut Butter Sh*t Show" thats the 1st mud section, All the pros did it at over 20 mph, By the time i got to it I did it in 1.4mph, so when people talk about the mud they could be talking about something totally different then what others saw the same race

      @@EliCriffield I was wondering the same! I had to walk the entire thing. took 30-45 min.

      Check out Haley Smith's blog. She finished 6th in women's pro race. Her blog of the race talks about the mud.

      I wouldnt say it was completely unrideable but it was a challenging bit! Using Speedplay road pedals is very motivational to keep the tires rolling

      @@matthewjohnson12 It was completely unrideable for some and not bad for others, the conditions changed a lot throughout the day.

    I guess instead of changing my chainring from a 40….I can just add 100W to my FTP. 🙈🙈🙈🙈

    The jab at the guys who are sitting on wasn't very cool. Not everyone's a pro athlete with a near 400watt FTP, mate. They're just playing to their skillset, also known as racing.

    Pros should not be allowed at unbound and other gravel events
