A minor correction for you guys about the history of Borobudur. Actually, Borobudur being abandoned has little to do with Islamic era and more to do with Mt. Merapi you guys are visiting too. The Volcano had a huge eruption in (I think) 1006 CE, forcing the Javanese royalty to move their capital to the east, and therefore leaving everything behind, including Borobudur. By the time the center of power returned to Central Java in 16th-17th Century, Borobudur no longer had religious significance it once had, so the Javanese didn't bother to do any major restoration until the Europeans came centuries later. Still, I do appreciate the effort of you guys in researching everything you visit, can't wait to see your next destination.

@@thelostboys.travel borobudur was covered by dirt and volcanic materials from mount merapi explosion and the people at that time did not have resources and equipment to excavate and renovate borobudur and the other temples, the king, mpu sinduk, decided to move the kingdom to East Java. Unfortunately in East Java for some reason they stop building megastrucures such as borobudur and prambanan temples. Temples in East java are relatively smaller than these two temples. Guys, since you are in Central Java, recommend visit Sukuh and Cetho temples in Karanganyar, Solo, the pyramid style of the temples gave you different perspectives, similar to aztec and inca temples in mexico and south america
I really like this chanel because it's not just a regular walk, but it also introduces places, traditions, food, et cetera. this is the first time I've seen a vlog from a foreign tourist in Indonesia who did research on the place he visited to explain it in the video, salute to you bro. And I want to straighten it out maybe I missed one point that Borobudur temple is far from the city of Yogyakarta, but is located in the city of Magelang, Central Java province, different from Yogyakarta province.

While you guys still around Jogja, you might considered to visit : Sermo dam, Suroloyo peak, Bribin cave, Srigetuk waterfall, Sadeng beach for seafood, Elo raftin And another local food / drink, like : tempe benguk, geblek, sambel welut, wedang ronde

It's funny that sometimes we find out about tourist attractions in our own country from foreign visitors. I first found out about Goa Jomblang from the American TV show The Amazing Race. They had to go to the cave and also Borobudur for the task. Your journey reminds me of all that.

Just got back from Jogja last week. Also went to the Lava Tour in Merapi like you guys. Wonderful experience, hype and screaming along the road but also reflection about the nature, the time when eruption happened and people who live and involved there.

Just got back from Jogja last week. Also went to the Lava Tour in Merapi like you guys. Wonderful experience, hype and screaming along the road but also reflection about the nature, the time when eruption happened and people who live and involved there.
