Exactly. Been doing this for years. It not only prevents the umbrella from taking flight, it stops the spinning. If you need to rotate your umbrella for tilt adjustment then drill additional holes so you can turn the pole and lock it down. I have people over and constantly asking how my umbrella doesn’t rotate. When I tell and show them they are like “why didn’t I think of that”. Hahah.
