@@Tombitp untrue, blizzard games are attritioning player base across the board. all of which require a steady player base in order to maintain status quo, enough players leave they will have to downsize continually until they decide to cut losses and go strictly mobile. That's where they make money anyways.
Why is no one talking about the two major things most players want to know. 1. They said they were reworking the base class skill trees. What does that look like? Is it any better? 2. Does this do anything to bring back players that felt the game did not offer enough enjoyability who might've left in season 0/1/2 etc.
Your things are definitely not two major things most players want to know, it is probably something you want to know, not most players. And I can answer them quite easily: 1. This is a review of the expansion, not a deep dive of the skills, I feel like you're looking for a deep dive. And you can literally look at them yourself on build guide sites. 2. He literally said that the game changed significantly from the original launch state, with, at least, way more late game activities. If you left by season 2, even without the expansion, the game changed significantly to be worth coming back and have a look.
1. Each skill tree has gotten one new active skill, and 5 new passives, and the ability to put multiple points into the ultimate. As well as the passives got reworked to allow you to go for more of them directly instead of having to put points into other skills to reach them. 2. The reason nobody is talking about it is because people playing this game are already playing it. We can't speak for people that have quit playing because people quit playing for a million different reasons, nobody can tell you whether or not the game is going to be more enjoyable for you now, all we can tell you is that the game changed.
I was excited about Diablo 4 and bought two for my 17 year old granddaughter who lives in S. Korea and myself (I'm in Washington) because she loves video games. We played together until she quit 7 months ago. She wasn't interested and although it brought us closer together I suspect the game was the problem. I'm 64 so I hope this expansion will have significant updates to bring her back. So far I have a level 85 Necromancer in Eternal and a level 52 Rogue in Hardcore.
Some people don’t want to play the same game over and over again, some do I tend to only play every 2 seasons or so in most games that I like with seasons so I will go like 6 months without playing something
I mean, Druid is at the bottom of the totem pole for classes I want to play, and classes I enjoy playing personally. SB is different enough in pace, visuals, and playstyle that i WANT to play them. To say they're exactly alike is a bit disingenuous
@@nintandao64 I'm being hyperbolic talking shit. But I do agree that druid did not feel good to play. At least when I first bought the game. I didn't even hit max level. I just couldn't take it.
I loved Diablo 3 and have played D4 off and on but the power progress slow-down is my EXACT same feeling about these games. I LOVE playing to gain new abilities, markedly better gear, etc. That feeling when you get a sweet new Unique and get to retweak your build to make it THAT much better and speed up your progress - that's fun! But when the game turns into a 15-60 minute dungeon run just to get a small 3% upgrade in damage... yeah that's when I stop.
Taking a long time to get a certain upgrade isn't that bad when you actually feel the impact of the upgrade. Like in d2 when you get a runeword that gives you an aura for example Vigor and you start running way fast in and out of town you actually feel accomplished, d4 is just throwing a million pieces of gear at you and the upgrades you find are just a little green arrow you don't actually feel like you're on an adventure worth the time
Me, looking at the Amazon Witch Doctor Monk hybrid, despite loving Zons and WDs: hm, I'll pass. This is the first time I don't buy a Diablo expansion. It's kinda weird, but I guess it had to happen one day.
Same. Maybe when it's on super sale I'll grab it, but for me this is a big step not blindly giving them money they haven't worked for in the way they just don't comprehend they need to take.
Ultimately, I think ARPG’s just aren’t for me. I’ve dabbled throughout the years and I love the leveling process but once it reaches endgame and every game just devolves into the same old “spam X ability to clear screens and spam X ability every single time an enemy appears on screen and have all other abilities be mobility or buffs” just gets old to me. I hate to say it but Lost Ark really ruined ARPG’s for me. I just don’t enjoy the stereotypical ARPG combat anymore that’s so fast paced and based around speed blitzing all the content.
@@hahahafunniness gave up on PoE at like level 40 because my build was doing exactly as I described above where I just had to spam the same skill over and over lol. All I had to do was level Fireball(which I’m pretty sure is the skill I started with as a Witch), spec the character into Fire damage and crit proc and spam that all the way to the end of the storyline and even into endgame it just cleared everything so long as I had the gear to back it up. Just right click right click right click right click - it’s boring as balls. Fireball was cool the first 20 times, lost its luster after the 10,000th. But that’s what these games devolve into is just basing your entire build around a single ability and then using all other abilities as utility or backup damage. Just isn’t fun to me.
I feel like people still never talk about the real issue which isn’t lack of end game content it’s lack of progression in the builds after level 50. Your build plays exactly the same way no matter what difficulty. And what gear you have. That’s the major thing poe has gotten over d4 and le
A lot of people just don't want that complexity. They want to throw a dart to pick skill points and mash button to win. PoE creates this extra game where I am constantly working towards upgrades and once I plateau, I'm now thinking about if I want to either push the build to the limits, specialize the build for certain content, or roll a new character. It's so hard to explain to people who haven't actually experienced PoE's massive endgame just how deep and satisfying it is.
@@Moogle they could give you 20 more skill points and it wouldn’t solve the issue because the issue is that your build doesn’t change based on your character progress. The numbers just go up. Compare that to poe where 80 hours into a character you still have breakpoints that allow you to completely rework how your character plays. For example: getting a ring that applies curse allowing you to drop a gem setup and respec out of penetration. Adding those points into additional proj ect. D4 your character hits its ceiling with no improvements besides make the number go up.
@@JosephOfTheNorthEast not complitely true. You can't respec Atlas (only 5-10 nodes out of 100), so you are forced to make a twink hero to change it that way you mentioned. And farming currencies to make 6-link in unique its a chore as well. Althrough more endgame activities for sure compare to D4
Yes, D2 A3, you are a badly designed annoying waste of space of a joke that overstayed your welcome during the very first playthrough and every single forced repetitive playthrough every since and I wish I could tele faster to be rid of you.
Sadly this expansion was not made for me as a long term Diablo and ARPG fan. So that means Blizzard does not get my money and D4 has been uninstalled. Considering the triple dipping in terms of monetization going on in the game - I feel players deserve more and better from Blizzard. Companies like UBISOFT, BETHESDA and BLIIZZARD know very well what players want. But players come last right now for these corporations. Thankfully - we have developers out there that still treat their players number one. Thank you Elden Ring, BG3, Black Myth and SOO many more that still make games worth playing. It makes it so much easier for me to walk away with my wallet from this D4 paywall and say to Blizzard, just like I did with Ubisoft and Bethesda some 5 years ago. "No thank you".
What about “Eternal Realm” characters? Did they update our gear/ items or they screwed us to were we have to grind them all over again? If so this would be the 3rd consecutive season they either legacy’d our weapons and or gear.
Your gear will once again be nerfed for absolutely no reason. Gear is going form 925 down to 800 and for some reason the 925 gear you already have will be lower than 800. They could just make it 800 but then you wouldnt have to spend any more time in the game grinding for new gear.
Thank you for the video! Good insight. Regarding your "whats the point", it's important to set goals for yourself in games like these. Otherwise you will get to that stage, where you feel you farm mindlessly with no purpose.
@@Wrannec Had the same problem with GW2 for a while. I always got burnt out or bored until I decided to just pick a goal and go for it until it was done. Finished 4 legendary weapons that way.
The reality in situations like this in the gaming industry is that once the average person quits a game that aren’t likely to go back to it if they had a bad experience. They don’t watch videos on it, they don’t check back in with updates. They just move on unless something significantly and dramatically changes with the game. That almost never happens. I can honestly only think of 3 games where it did: Destiny 2, FF14, and No Man’s Sky.
It looks like a solid expansions with a lot of cool additions to the game, I've played all 5 seasons till now, and after the S4 the game really start going to a path that is good. The expansion is probably a buy for me, let's hope that the game keeps improving! Great video as always
I appreciate a positive comment about the game. Obviously it started out a mess, but the game is genuinely pretty fun now. I’m not interested in buying any video game related content for full price, but I’m looking forward to this going on sale!
As a person looking for a positive view on the game, just to get something of a balanced take on D4: What have they done over the seasons to make D4 significantly better? Is it all on the loot side of things or are there also other changes?
@@louieberg2942 For me the loot definitely was a big part of the updates, but they have revamped helltides (which I loved because on S2 they did the vampire events and it was great to stay there leveling), they have added the pit, qol changes (npcs arent spread around the cities anymore, you can teleport directly to dungeons, mounts are not weird anymore, etc), its not hard to build a powerful character (this may change a little bit on the next season) but yeah, for me those are some of the aspects that made the game better
@@MrDaniloko23 Thanks, by the sound of it they did remove some of the tedium/filler, which became a bother to me at some point. I might give the base game another go, then maybe buy the expansion.
Thanks for ur impressions man! I fear the exact same issue is what prevented me from even starting D4. Did it in D2 kinda, even more in D3 - EVEN MORE in BDO and to some extent in Lost Ark. Nah I'm good, been there too often; done that too often. Anyone still enjoying that 100 hrs of grind and smallest progression loop, nice I'm sure they will have a blast (and I can't blame them honestly) - personally just waiting for PoE 2 where this loop might be a bit more loosened up.
PoE can pump out 5 ish skills (not counting supports) every 3-4 months. And you can actually use your abilities at any time as much as you like in PoE! WHAAAAAA?!
in this case, lack of skills is a deal maker. I have played no game to date that is as mundane as D4. Doing capstone boss to Torment (Elias) at lvl 50-55 was the only real challenge in the game. Every other boss after that is just a high health meat bag. You could say Lilith echo is a challenge, but the whole journey leading up to that is filled with void and boredom, so why bother?
It’s just more of “the same” but sequenced slightly differently (kill a mini-helltide like event -> take portal to the same old dungeon tile set -> do a mini-infernal hordes event -> rinse and repeat)
I'm happy to see them adding a variety of content types. Definitely a step in the right direction. I'll probably wait for it to go on sale. I'm going to wait to see what PoE 2 looks like first.
@@MrSkeezymak atm it does, means nothing. arpg playerbase changes more than most games because people come back for content. D4 has a faster season rotation than other arpgs so there are more spikes in numbers. When poe has a new update or poe2 releases it will dwarf d4 by a huge amount, even last epoch a smaller arpg has double the numbers of d4 when that released. arpgs just go up and down a lot based on seasons
@@MrSkeezymaki am a casual player, and i hated what it became after season 4. So i stopped there and have no intend of coming back. First the tempering system sucks, and the level cut i did not like as well. And forced group content to make up for the bad tempering system. I think it's not only casual players, i think many pro players, play the game as well. They just do not tell about it. It have become a even more grinding game over the last 6 month, there are so much you NEED to do to progress your gear. I just hate it.
I like the improvements to the game's QoL that you've shown in this video, but I don't think it's enough to make me want to start playing again. I put over 100 hours into the Season of Blood and really enjoyed it, but eventually just hit a wall and couldn't justify putting in another 100 hours of grind into the game knowing that eventually the season would turn and I would have to do it all over again on a new character. I know that's the ARPG method, I just don't think it's for me. You said it perfectly "you're grinding to play the same content." I'd rather move on and see something new.
Remember guys. PoE2 is like 6 weeks away. And it will be a free game. Not 70 USD for the base game, be unfinished for months and when it is finally playable you need to pay another 40 USD. Also there is Last Epoch, where you get a full game for less than 40 USD. I dont really think Bliz has "earned" the right to get any more money from me. But just my opinion.
POE 2 is not free. EA is paid. you need to buy a key to play or have lifetime threshhold with the first game to play. and its not a finished game either.
Early access is 6 weeks away. It's paid and it is unfinished. It's supposed to have 6 acts, we're getting 4. It will possibly be this way for 6 months. Early access will likely require a $30 supporter pack purchase to get in and possibly people who have spent $480 or more total on their account will also get access. (As told by Jonathan Rogers the dev to zizaran)
its not a good game for ppl who want to progress as a player its good for those who want an infinite stats treadmill of overly simplistic mechanics orbiting a materials grind to "do it all again, but this time on torment level 6,666"
i CAN help you with the iron and leather issue, all you gotta do is just play normally, fill up your inventory with loot, salvage it all at the black smith every time dont ever sell for gold, as long as your salvage the mats is just flowing in without you even noticing, gold comes from infernal horde
Paid expansion for a failed game with an annoying material farm to upgrade stuff. No thanks. I quit D4 because it didn't respect my time at all, the work I put into it was usually pointless and it felt like a job when I logged in with chores, which is what World of Warcraft now feels like to. Live service games are a cancer and I will never purchase one again. The people playing them running around doing chores are literal zombies.
@@zenithquasar9623 And most of those people play 1-2 weeks at the start of every season, and then shelf it until the next season - as is the case with pretty much every single ARPG. The only games that are true "forever" games, are competitive games, because the content is the competition.
Diablo decided to give people ANOTHER Druid basically instead of the beloved Paladin. And besides that, you don't even face Mephisto in the Mephisto expansion.
Miss the days when game devs didn't give creators and media full access to games/expansions. I get its "the job" but it is so toxic and unfun knowing a bunch of "insiders" got to play before everyone else and every site has a million guides already. The information age is truly the worst age.
Some studios still don’t send out pre-launch review codes, happens occasionally. But it’s usually met with negative responses. People assume it’s because the game is bad, and the publisher doesn’t want negative reviews to dissuade people from buying the game. Which in some cases, that’s true.
@@ForceGamingYT That's what demo's were for. It's a shame that some publishers/devs still can't see this. Altho demo's are kind of making a comeback (atleast for the bigger games, indies always seem to do this).
What is worse that comes with that, is they are just advertisements. It is a biased review towards all the positive more than the negatives, clearly. Compare to in the videos in a few weeks when all of a sudden the game is "dying?" with videos like "Why I quit playing D4" etc.
There was a time where I would buy this expansion, realize i was right & it is not what I am looking for in an ARPG and be bitter about it. The game does look like it is more 'fun' but to realize this they have removed all challenge or anything you could be proud of in this game. It is also clear from watching previews that they have made the new class much better than the rest as to persuade you to buy the expansion for maximum power. There is a world where the first year of D4 was them retooling the game to add depth & giving players things to think through. Instead they made the game easier at every level, simplifying ever system, Have you at max level in an instant.
Iron mats can be farmed during Legion events. Not on Helltides. I never had a problem with Iron Chunks or leather in S5 Or maybe they changed the rates of those mats in D4 2.0/S6 IDK.
I was wondering if they changed the rates or something. So far I've finished every season with hundreds, if not thousands, of excess iron and leather. On the eternal realm, with all those characters moved over post-season, my supply is pretty much infinite. Gold has always been a much bigger limiting factor, though we now have an easy source for that with the infernal hordes from season 5 onward.
The grind is the point in Diablo. If they can make the grind to be fun then this could be a good diablo game. Also.. "the point" is building the ultimate god. Saying "grinding to do the same content" is a big clue that hack and slash arpgs are not your thing, and that is fine. Also.. the other points where bragging rights via leaderboards and pvp. And this is what we are missing here.. the end game goals. This is what the current devs don't get. We need that motivation to give meaning to the grind.
You don't have to look this stuff up, just go blind, do you own build, make your own choices. When you feel stuck you can still reroll your skills/paragon and follow a more meta build. I did this for LE and D4 but I had a lot more fun in LE because everything makes more sense, a lot of things are weird in D4, the skill tree and paragon are very messy
Yeah, and my problem is not that streamers know stuff already, they have friends, those friends have other friends, so there is a whole bunch of people who has access to ton of info that the mortals as you say cant, its just awful. And yeah if i were a streamer i wouldnt complain, it would be my job and my source of income, im not blaming on them, im blaming the companies ofc.
I agree and people say well you don't have to look it up but the problem is now the whole community expects you to know everything if you join the group. It's fucking annoying. I miss the days of doing a dungeon in a MMO or in a multiplayer game where everyone's kind of figuring it out together. Not hey you can't join this group unless you watched 2 hours of UA-cam tutorials on how to do this dungeon. I understand if you're going for like mythic plus raids in wow then yeah you better know what the fuck they're doing but if you're just starting out end game content you shouldn't have to know everything right away.
D4 is an action game. There is just not enough actual character building for someone like me. Its not very fun to me when loot sucks, skills are so overly simplified to have one or two variants (d3 had more lol) and just no actual in depth character building with skills etc. I get there is the paragon charts or whatever they are called but its all passive and really thers is not much build variety. There just feels like there is something big missing from this games loop, I cant put my finger on it exactly, but I think its alot of things that snow ball together to make me hate it. It was a fun play through for the story but other than that, the systems are just not varied or interesting enough to care. Also all the cool looking gear is for real money purchase instead of putting them in the damn game as lootable gear, huge miss there.
@@jonnyhannah2246yea not alot of cosmetics as of now but if you go the store you can get the same recycled skins for the past 2 months and nothing new 😂
I dunno man. You've provided high praise for launch D4 also and we all have seen how that turned out.... I'll better wait and see what happens with it all
D4 was praised by most people at launch, and it's issues really didn't start revealing themselves until after the first week or two when the honeymoon effect wore off.
D4 has had a decently sized happy player base for several months now. Many people (rightfully so) got soured by it at launch and never gave it a second chance other than occasionally listening to what you tubers were saying.
Ugh I hate that spin to win move. It is the dumbest looking thing that they(and other companies) could have made. I know it's optimal but I refuse to play barb because of spin to win or the leap to weap ability it has. Please give me something cool looking and is something stupid like twirling around or jumping.
that stupid class has been flanderized into spin to win, jump to next mob and spin more gone are the days of cool barbarian skills. you only have the spin shit and hit hard. a class for 80iq neanderthals
I've been watching reviews all morning and with each consecutive clip, I progressively see how this is the most underwhelming expansion to any Diablo game ever.
For me, having to pay an Extension to have a fun game not worth it. I already paid full price for crap and I want good game for this price before having to pay an Extension.
Is there cool looking new gear in this that you don’t have to pay for? I just want to play the game and earn cool shit without opening my wallet for anything beyond the dlc itself
I think games nowadays focuses too hard on making games eternal rather than just making good games. Diablo 2, you had a whole bunch to do, and a lot of fun farming, and Very much tedious at end, but you worked through it. 500 hours done! Diablo 3. Same but eternal, in that way, very good, also you could build and do whatever and try deeper and deeper. For prestige/meta, not really anything else. Was actually most fun before the set items came out and a lot of changes. Base diablo 3 with good gear, is top tier. Just not everyone got there. even Impossible now. Diablo 4. Idk, I just got tired
realization that companies build a game around making money vs building a game fostering a happy community and a vision they themselfes believe in. its philosophical. what does the WoW token tell you about the internal thought process of blizzard? what does diablo immortal tell you? what does automated moderation tell you? what does skins and mounts instead of an interesting loot table tell you? why did they let gearscore/ilvl elitism and divison thrive instead of cutting it out? if a game revolves around surgically activating your brain to stimulate negative feelings or overstimulating your reward system to get you to spend your money on microtransactions well... the addicted people will show you, they defend these sale strategies as "normal", "other games are worse", "yea well but" "they need to make money" its something that you can "feel" its when people say they feel like a game has lost its soul. home cooked meals dont taste better than delivery lots of times BUT it does still taste better because you made it for someone or someone made it for you with the intention of caring about you. blizzard DOES NOT care about you, thats long gone. so no its not about making a game eternal, its about making it profitable and for it to be profitable you need to make it tedious or boring, or tell people that "its all about the endgame", you need to create incentives for people to pay so you create the problems yourself.
Players are somewhat to blame too. Many of them are basically demanding everything to be plagued by the "forever game" aka live service curse as they need even the most arbitrary and lazy updates to make the game feel alive enough to be worth their while. Also some rush through these titles like their life was depending on it, they instantly look up build guides and walkthroughs and shit instead of slowly, gradually figuring everything out themselves. People are actively spoiling their own experience.
@@d4rkh4l34 You have many good points! Of course. Though know that I am comparing this between diablo 3 and 4 and not a subscription MMO. Different rules abide. But I see your points!
@@Lenariet I find it hard to blame players ever. That feels a little like blaming your mistakes on your crew, the crew that you hired. Like Ubisoft blaming their workforce, the workforce he himself hired. I can agree that there are demands and all but at the end of it, good games will sell.. their focus should always be good games that apply for everyone. hot girls, hot men, hot trans people hot ugly people whatever! Fun builds that everyone can enjoy and progress, some may be better but all should be able to do it. To do things that way. Thing is, I don't think the devs should try to make it eternal from get go, just make it fun and good first give us a good experience and then do the eternal stuff. Diablo 3 didn't have the rifts at the beginning! It was a welcoming change
I think it was Force who made that point in a different video. Games should care much, much more about the road to endgame, rather than just focussing on the endgame and treating the road there as a nuisance everybody goes through.
I feel like alot of people who probably didn't start playing Diablo 3 from the very start to the end of its cycle- don't really understand these games don't really start getting good until they age a bit. D3 at the time of D4 release was a great game because it had time to mature. The time devs take to initially make a game as large and complex as diablo 4 doesn't really reflect the actual time they need to polish it. D2 was really fun because it was unique for its time and even then when you compare it's base release to it's expansion they are worlds apart in terms of quality. It was just expectations hadn't been made yet when it was first released because D1, lets face it, was a low bar in terms of what is expected from a game compared to today. For D3 Reaper of Souls is when the game polish really started to kick in and it looks like Vessle of Hatred is going to have a similar impact on D4. I suspect by Season 8 the games true maturation will begin to really come together.

You can either do a few legion events and solve your iron and leather problem or you can do overworld content like helltides but use Subo the archer which has the seeker skill. its such a simple fix to provide exclusive content on each progression tier. It's a problem with *bad* ARPGs (or games in general) when progression is simply 10x-ing both the player and the enemies so nothing changes. It's the laziest possible form of content strategy. If the core loop is good, it will last you for a while, but ultimately....why even have "levels" of difficulty?

So Kurast is an expansion, Pandemonium fortress is an expansion and Horragoth will be an expansion - All at full price of course on top of the base game. Unbelievable.
See. I hate the game as much as the next person. But this is straight up misinformation. the expansions were 40 dollars. Perfectly reasonable. I just bought Space Marine, Wukong, FF16. @Foxexar lmao what? Those games are at the same price as diablo 4 when it came out. In fact black wokong is 60 bucks compared to diablo 4 70 price tag.
The problem is lack of variety when it comes to difficulty. Highest diffuculty should be adding way more mechanics to interact with so it is not only about pumping numbers. This would be deal breaker. Fingers crossed for PoE 2 :)
For those who are considering buying this half baked expansion but have some self restraint, wait a month or two itll be on sale on steam for half price like the base game
It looks like producers never played other h&s games. I have like 3k hours in PoE and some of the bosses seen only on YT, because game is so hard. The biggest Diablo problem from the first part is its difficulty - it is just easy, and adding more life and damage to enemies is laziest thing they can do. Now they even added farming, like in some mobile games. PoE2 will completly destroy Blizzard.
Since I saw the open world in D4 for the first time with world bosses etc I thought and wished it to be more like LostArk but without the annoying leveling gear upgrades but diablo loot grind but it turned out to be a mess and the game end up being only about doing Nigthmare dungeons over and over... With Dark citadel and new content its aiming to have more interesting challenges in the future I hope they keep those raids coming!
Correction: Diablo 4's only expansion cuz it is selling like crap and everyone is saying its boring. They won't make another one they will just move on.
I know dark and dreary is the vibe D4 is going for but the environments just look so much more boring and washed out than in D3 and it makes me completely uninterested in playing
I'm not gonna be able to keep up with all of this. I just want more storyline, then hack and slash som monsters. Now we gotta group up to do endgame features? Seems like a hard pass from me. Good video tho, as always.
LOL so many people came here to piss all over the game. If you all hate it so much why are you even here? You think Blizzard are gonna read all these comments and quit making the game?
I make sure to post on the D4 forums about their obvious failures and things that could get me to buy in, but there's so many toxic turd eaters it seems like no progress is really gonna be made any time soon.
They're adding a consumable scroll you can find that resets the tempering for an item. You'll get a few for free from doing the season 6 rep grinds, and they'll be in one of the endgame rewards lists (the citadel, I think, but might be from T1+ nightmares as well).
@@hooliganj391 Thanks, I knew about the scrolls but the tempering system is trash. That ruined the game. The RNG should be the item drop, not a ticket to the rigged casino. Trash. Appreciate the answer.
Reviews used to be like a sneak peak into what could possibly be awaiting you knowing that one of your favorite franchises releases combined with the humongous name from one of the most known in the gaming industry, it's bound to be amazing right? It has to be good no matter how you shake it, it's Diablo! people to this day still have CD's with the original game releases It really feels more of a disclaimer or warning sign than anything like Were you disappointed with the base game and the hit-or-miss -mostly-meh seasons? then this is not for you Would you like to feel like you're exploring a new game, new world, new ..something? too bad reviews are coming out with what is new, how everything works, what builds are the best, what not to play and what the best gear is Everything is handed to you, from the build to how to even customize your build to "properly" enjoy the game because if you're not, then it's *Insert 17 DMG Meme Here", they might as well have auto play option, it's the same release as the base game where every reviewer already gave away all the secrets (this video might be excluded but you know the "build makers"), all you need to do is insert the money D4's best is D3 at its worst and asking for money on an expansion that was pre-planned even before the base game release just shows how hollow Blizz still is. They should give 50% off to everyone that has the base game and to those that have played all the seasons (God rest their souls) give`em a free copy.
I cannot agree enough with the issue D4 has with end game. All the new things have different names but there just the same stuff , the same gameplay with a different reward. Why grind for 50-100 hours to get to t3 or 4 when its the exact same content loop and gameplay as it was in 1-2 ext. The process to lving and gearing up is fine, but then there is a huge drop off. Other ARPGS have these issues, but they have much better build options to change up and enhance ur build that in those moments you still feel like things are changing up. The fact that in D4 you have ur entire ability bar at lvl30 and it wont change for the rest of the game is insane to me. Thats why it gets boring grinding in this game, lack of deep skilll trees and build options.
I do kinda wish that the portal bois would link up 4 random people that go in (scaled of course) to add to the "group stuff" was increased. Of course, if you had your party invite to private/friends only, or were already in a party, it would just go with that option. Overall, interested in playing
Cons that are something along the lines of "Yeah this car great, so good, and totally worth the price. But I don't like the door handle that much but otherwise yeah great wow". That's not cons. There's been zero meaningful in-depth analysis of anything where one can see he base of reasoning. It's literally just some advertisement, just like any other content creator that got early access for the Review.
Don't think the iron/leather dependency is unintended. It's artificially making creating more play hours because you've blew through the content or lack thereof depending on expectations. Crazy af to me that I'm not buying the expansion, been with diablo since 98' 👎 but this just doesn't give me what I'm looking for in a Diablo expansion.
@@Eagle6Airsoft Agreed. Releasing this as a Free DLC after all the miss steps they have made with Immortal and D4 would have gone along way with bringing the fanbase back. That being said, This just Further pushes me away. Which saddens me, I have been a fan since D2 in my middle school days and this new path blizzard has been on just doesn't sit right with me. They really missed a great opportunity here.
RNG for upgrades you have to save for just doesnt make sense. We already have RNG for specific characteristics of items dropping, once I'm ready to temper, just let me choose the stat I want. If you want to gatekeep some of that to make it harder fine, make it incremental but rerolling hoping for the boons you want feels cheap and unfun - unclear to me how this makes your game better.
I am going to play the expansion, give me some ARPG juice before POE2 launch in a month and a half. I enjoy D4 but it is definitely a pretty good example of lost opportunities and dashed expectations, similar to D3. Fun but not really in line with the best of the Diablo series (1 and 2). stop being a sheep. d4 is and always has been a good base game, getting better thru updates, this ones as impactful as season 0
Why is no one talking about the two major things most players want to know. 1. They said they were reworking the base class skill trees. What does that look like? Is it any better? 2. Does this do anything to bring back players that felt the game did not offer enough enjoyability who might've left in season 0/1/2 etc.
They added a couple twigs from what I've seen, almost inconsequential to the base tree and it's many shortcomings, unfortunately.
Your things are definitely not two major things most players want to know, it is probably something you want to know, not most players. And I can answer them quite easily:
@@dudukousyes it is
We don't care about people that left what does that got to do with my gameplay
As for the leather and iron, I encountered the same problem. It turns out that doing one legion event fixes the problem, rewarding 900x
Greater whisper caches at lvl 60 as well. The crafting materials kept dropping from one of those for about 10-15 seconds xD
You're living my dream however at this time I'm waiting for my 2 year old to grow up to play with in the near future if I am lucky
Sounds like you got some good time out of it. I suggest you try the seasonal content. Its refreshing and brings me back regularily.
Some people don’t want to play the same game over and over again, some do I tend to only play every 2 seasons or so in most games that I like with seasons so I will go like 6 months without playing something
Minecraft never fails playing with kids. Build a castle together and slay the dragon.

It cracks me up how they described the new character as every other character in the game besides the one that it's actually almost exactly like
Yeah, they're like, "IT'S NOT JUST AN ETHNIC DRUID OK?! JEEZE !"
I just couldn't take it.
its literally just a d4 druid and d3 monk
Wrong it's a Hybrid class , much more akin to Immortal new classes
I loved Diablo 3 and have played D4 off and on but the power progress slow-down is my EXACT same feeling about these games. I LOVE playing to gain new abilities, markedly better gear, etc. That feeling when you get a sweet new Unique and get to retweak your build to make it THAT much better and speed up your progress - that's fun!
But when the game turns into a 15-60 minute dungeon run just to get a small 3% upgrade in damage... yeah that's when I stop.
Taking a long time to get a certain upgrade isn't that bad when you actually feel the impact of the upgrade. Like in d2 when you get a runeword that gives you an aura for example Vigor and you start running way fast in and out of town you actually feel accomplished, d4 is just throwing a million pieces of gear at you and the upgrades you find are just a little green arrow you don't actually feel like you're on an adventure worth the time
Try Grim Dawn then.

Lost ark has shit combat lol

I mean they added 10 more levels, could honestly change up a lot in builds

@@Moogle they could give you 20 more skill points and it wouldn’t solve the issue because the issue is that your build doesn’t change based on your character progress. The numbers just go up.

All items on the ER are deprecated, again. You might as well consider there is no ER. I dislike this model of separate realms as well.
Your gear will once again be nerfed for absolutely no reason. Gear is going form 925 down to 800 and for some reason the 925 gear you already have will be lower than 800. They could just make it 800 but then you wouldnt have to spend any more time in the game grinding for new gear.

As a person looking for a positive view on the game, just to get something of a balanced take on D4:
What have they done over the seasons to make D4 significantly better? Is it all on the loot side of things or are there also other changes?
@@louieberg2942 For me the loot definitely was a big part of the updates, but they have revamped helltides (which I loved because on S2 they did the vampire events and it was great to stay there leveling), they have added the pit, qol changes (npcs arent spread around the cities anymore, you can teleport directly to dungeons, mounts are not weird anymore, etc), its not hard to build a powerful character (this may change a little bit on the next season) but yeah, for me those are some of the aspects that made the game better

lack of skills is a never ending deal breaker
D4 classes just look super lame compared to PoE 2 classes at this point. It's more blatant than ever.

I put over 100 hours into the Season of Blood and really enjoyed it, but eventually just hit a wall and couldn't justify putting in another 100 hours of grind into the game knowing that eventually the season would turn and I would have to do it all over again on a new character.

I never had a problem with Iron Chunks or leather in S5
Or maybe they changed the rates of those mats in D4 2.0/S6 IDK.
This is the solution. Legion events is the way you farm iron/leather.
Unless something dramatically changed for the xpack launch, I've never had a problem with iron/leather being a limiting factor for anything.
Rates are changed there are afew main d4 content creators who also complained about how much you have to grind for mats now.
Yeaaaahh so the game is not even out yet for mere mortals and it is already pre chewed, with everything figured out and done? What a terrible feeling.

POE 2 is free. They also don’t gate content behind group play
It's like a dating a soul less hot chick who just makes you swipe your card but doesn't satisfy you in anyway possible.
did you try Last Epoch? That ARPG exactly filled the need for me regarding character progression. The skill system feels so good
They are adding cosmetics to the Dark Citadel I believe

Yes.. glad I'm not the only one that remembers.
D4 was praised by most people at launch, and it's issues really didn't start revealing themselves until after the first week or two when the honeymoon effect wore off.
Launch D4 was awesome, it just didn't have any staying power. Anyone who claims they didn't get 60 dollars worth of game out of D4 is full of shit
He bought and paid for like 99% of reviewers
D4 has had a decently sized happy player base for several months now. Many people (rightfully so) got soured by it at launch and never gave it a second chance other than occasionally listening to what you tubers were saying.
Ugh I hate that spin to win move. It is the dumbest looking thing that they(and other companies) could have made. I know it's optimal but I refuse to play barb because of spin to win or the leap to weap ability it has. Please give me something cool looking and is something stupid like twirling around or jumping.
It does look stupid, but I like being a beyblade of death 💀🤘
that stupid class has been flanderized into spin to win, jump to next mob and spin more
gone are the days of cool barbarian skills.
you only have the spin shit and hit hard. a class for 80iq neanderthals
The Citadel is said to hold a special reward when completed at Torment 4... Keep in mind, it is best to know 3 Companions for such an achievement 💯🖖
I believe there is free cosmetics you can claim every week? But i am not sure it's every week.
Refreshing to hear you also question the logic of the tiered rat race. Great video!
d4 bad aside, why do the skills and the passive tree still look like placeholders? lol
More and more are starting to realise the modern ARPG grind is not fun. It is not what we signed up for when we fell in love with Diablo.
Diablo 4. Idk, I just got tired
realization that companies build a game around making money vs building a game fostering a happy community and a vision they themselfes believe in. its philosophical.
what does the WoW token tell you about the internal thought process of blizzard? what does diablo immortal tell you? what does automated moderation tell you? what does skins and mounts instead of an interesting loot table tell you? why did they let gearscore/ilvl elitism and divison thrive instead of cutting it out?
if a game revolves around surgically activating your brain to stimulate negative feelings or overstimulating your reward system to get you to spend your money on microtransactions well... the addicted people will show you, they defend these sale strategies as "normal", "other games are worse", "yea well but" "they need to make money"
its something that you can "feel" its when people say they feel like a game has lost its soul. home cooked meals dont taste better than delivery lots of times BUT it does still taste better because you made it for someone or someone made it for you with the intention of caring about you. blizzard DOES NOT care about you, thats long gone.
so no its not about making a game eternal, its about making it profitable and for it to be profitable you need to make it tedious or boring, or tell people that "its all about the endgame", you need to create incentives for people to pay so you create the problems yourself.
The expansion should be free. This video is describing so much of what already exists in D3.
Dont worry blizzard needs to sell some 65 dollar horses and about a year or two or 6 to 8 seasons which are infact beta tests.. dont change my mind.
While I don't necessarily disagree, aren't you referring too D3 post Reaper of Souls, ya'know, an expansion?
Their competitors release this much content for free four times a year...
@@maguszero Yeah POE seasons always include a new class and a new area and new dungeons and many more things .... oh wait, they don't. Ahw POE sucks! Burn it to the ground (not really). So lazy, this kind of critique.
@@martinschouwenburg506 PoE literally just added like 50 new skill gems two leagues ago (the detemining factor to the game's classes), revamped 2 Ascendendies in that time and has has added new ways to craft your build and your builds's gear.
You can enjoy D4 and its expansion but at least have an idea of what you're talking about.
You can either do a few legion events and solve your iron and leather problem or you can do overworld content like helltides but use Subo the archer which has the seeker skill. It's basically a map hack for monsters and resources, it drastically lowers the time you need to farm other resources. Every mercenary seems to be good at something Subo is for resources gathering, barb is for speed farming dungeons. demon kid is for applying debuffs and the shield dude is better suited for harder content. I'm really excited for the launch and can't wait to get to T4 so I can do citadel and get the transmogs.
Can focus on waiting PoE2
When does it comes out? It looks so good
@@artofox 2nd week of November, I forget the exact date.
its such a simple fix to provide exclusive content on each progression tier. It's a problem with *bad* ARPGs (or games in general) when progression is simply 10x-ing both the player and the enemies so nothing changes. It's the laziest possible form of content strategy. If the core loop is good, it will last you for a while, but ultimately....why even have "levels" of difficulty?
there's no endgame for arpg, the real endgame is never ending grinding
Barbarian is the most overhype class in the game.
I want to get hyped for this but every time I see the new class, I just wish it was a sword and board (Templar / Crusader etc.) instead.
I don’t understand why they can’t release two classes, insane

@@jeffkean5162 Huh, you really can't understand? Do you have any idea what a financially moronic decision it would be to release two classes in one expansion?
It's insane too that diablo has shield and only a caster type class can use it....fucking shame.
For all the players that want more out of a RPG, give Last Epoch a try. It costs less than this expansion pack for D4, and it has a deeper customization than you'll ever get from D4.
Alot of haters in these comment sections. Just want to say I love Diablo 4 and can't wait for the new expansion! Fuck all the haters who already made their opinions on an expansion they havent or will not play. Keep wasting your time on youtube.

Thank you. The last 3 minutes of the video really explains why I get frustrated with the genre. I also lose that desire when its just a grind to get to the next level of difficulty. I am glad to know its not only me.
You wanna know how much those were? 92 dollars each. Dont sit here and talk shit about stuff you have no idea about.

Fake news.
Yeah i felt the same way. Its just really uninteresting. PoE has a dark atmosphere and environment too but its way more interesting to look at imo
They’ve redone the color in the game for this expansion. If you’ve played the PTR, it looks more appealing
I agree. D3 is so much more interesting and diverse.
Caldeum still looks so incredible and it's hard to imagine d4 matching that. Hope they do tho

If I have to touch five obelisks in the correct order to open a portal to Tristram in the Dark Citadel... Imma lose my mind.
Do you still brick items when tempering? Then FU blizzard.
It has to be good no matter how you shake it, it's Diablo! people to this day still have CD's with the original game releases
It really feels more of a disclaimer or warning sign than anything like Were you disappointed with the base game and the hit-or-miss -mostly-meh seasons? then this is not for you
Would you like to feel like you're exploring a new game, new world, new ..something? too bad reviews are coming out with what is new, how everything works, what builds are the best, what not to play and what the best gear is
Everything is handed to you, from the build to how to even customize your build to "properly" enjoy the game because if you're not, then it's *Insert 17 DMG Meme Here", they might as well have auto play option, it's the same release as the base game where every reviewer already gave away all the secrets (this video might be excluded but you know the "build makers"), all you need to do is insert the money
D4's best is D3 at its worst and asking for money on an expansion that was pre-planned even before the base game release just shows how hollow Blizz still is.
They should give 50% off to everyone that has the base game and to those that have played all the seasons (God rest their souls) give`em a free copy.
Vessel of CRAP
50 hours of enjoyable gameplay is perfect for most adults.
But what's the point if I can't sink hundreds of hours into it :((( /s
not for ARPG that is supposed to keep you busy for 2-3 months each season
I do kinda wish that the portal bois would link up 4 random people that go in (scaled of course) to add to the "group stuff" was increased. Of course, if you had your party invite to private/friends only, or were already in a party, it would just go with that option. Overall, interested in playing
After 25:00 you get the cons but honestly this entire game is a con
Cons that are something along the lines of "Yeah this car great, so good, and totally worth the price. But I don't like the door handle that much but otherwise yeah great wow".
That's not cons. There's been zero meaningful in-depth analysis of anything where one can see he base of reasoning. It's literally just some advertisement, just like any other content creator that got early access for the Review.
Nah this shit has been fun.
This expansion should have been a Free DLC
With how much they robbed us at launch, they should give this entire game away for free. Absolute trash excuse for a diablo game.
@@MikeS-wi9tf My thoughts exactly.
Agreed. Seems weird to gate this stuff, it makes people either not play as they can’t compete or have to buy it
@@Eagle6Airsoft Agreed.
There's no shame in being poor, you don't have to make up weird demands like this.
GIVE US GOOD END GAME ACTIVITIES WITH PROGRESSION!
No way will I ever give them anymore of my money to play this game. Zero chance.
