I'm starting to think the people at the dodo don't really understand animals and responsible behavior from humans towards animals. About a month ago they posted a video about a girl who "rescued" a budgie. In reality the girl found the bird but never bothered to find it's owner. She assumed the bird was abandoned and just kept it. She never thought that the reason the bird was so loving and trusting of her was because it had a loving owner that it trusted. Yea around 1:40 the rooster starts dropping his head and flairing his hackles in fight mode. Then he started attacking the dog. Around 2:00 in he realized he can't do anything with the dog and tries to retreat. I keep 60-100 chickens year around and ironically have a 1 year old puppy of the same breed. Unfortunately they are a hyper breed that will literally run chickens to death if you allow it to keep going like in the video or leave them unsupervised. you got this one wrong Dodo. This situation probably isn't "dangerous" because it seems like a really nice dog, but that rooster is stressed. The owner saying "the rooster could've got away if it wanted to" is completely missing the point. It doesn't want to get away because it think it "needs" to be there, not because it's "playing."
Plus the situation actually is kinda dangerous because the dog might be trying to be friends with the chicken but the rooster might feel threatened enough to actually hurt the dog with his spurs
Oh come on do you really think animals are that dumb and cannot INSTINCTIVELY evaluate a situation and know that the dog is no REAL threat ? Do not underestimate them. The rooster probably felt threatened INITIALLY but I am sure he figured it all out a bit later. Animals can sense when another animal is attacking them or just playing with no ill intent.
@@phuck8627 I'm more worried about the rooster. All it would take is one bite from the dog and the rooster is dead. Then you have a dog that has discovered it can kill chickens.
@@phuck8627 Of course the rooster may not find the dog funny ( although we will NEVER know for sure what he feels and humans ASSUME too much abour animals because they THINK they are in THEIR heads but they are not) but that does NOT mean he thinks he is trying to kill him. He knows the dog is not a threat. He may just want his peace and quiet because the dog keeps trying to play with him. THERE IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE. He is not afraid or stressed for his life. He may just be bothered by a very persistent dog who wants to have fun because he may not be interested. Although he may be and he may be actually playing as the video says. We cannot know for sure. What I know is that my chicken used to play with me and he would follow and chase me around just for fun. I chased him too. He never felt scared. He KNEW it was not a dangerous siruation. He then wanted to climb on my lap and sleep. So I guess he trusted me and never saw me as a threat. THEIR INSTINCTS are much sharper than ours, they inform them well on the other animals' intentions and they know the difference between an attack and a non dangerous game.
It's all fun and games until they come home from the store one day and find blood and feathers everywhere and Leia with a half-chewed chicken leg in her mouth. lol
I think you're missing the whole point. The rooster is chasing away a perceived predator & the much bigger predator, the dog, thinks it's a game. If this was to keep up you'd have a dead rooster on your hands. The poor rooster is not having fun, it's fighting away a threat. Not fun for him.

Ruffled neck feathers, striking position-rooster is ready to open a can of whoop-ass. When he kicked up his spurs, dog got aggressive and could have hurt/killed the rooster. Agree with others here. Dodo and narrator messed up.
The poor rooster.. It’s probably wondering why this giant bear is here to eat it and take its territory! It all looks like their playing, well at least the dog but really, The rooster is running for its life and protecting its land like male chickens are meant to. And I can tell when chickens are stressed because I have owned chickens before. When they are stressed they make a lot of noise and open their mouth widely. This is also what the rooster in the video did. And when he stopped, he was exhausted. He even stopped while the dog was right in his face!! No wild rooster would do this. That means the rooster is really exhausted. You should probably research chickens before adopting them. And consider a way to prevent this. Like really, It looks fun, but the rooster is being torched. This is rooster abuse. But the dog doesn’t know. The dog think the rooster is playing. And if you say the rooster is used to it, he is not. Consider it a break when the dog is not around. He dosent like it, he is running for his life. He might even be traumatized. And if you say he can just fly away, that’s not true. First of all, He would get hurt. Sense dogs play bite, The dog would probably bite at the rooster when he tries to fly. This could result in the chicken breaking a bone or be seriously injured. Chickens are especially weak because their fragile necks and light wings. That’s why they peck their heads when they walk. And if a chicken snaps it’s neck, it’s done for. Once even one of our chickens died due to a dog. While someone was going outside, The dogs ran out, We quickly tried to put the dogs back and put the chickens in their coop and sadly, one got killed due to the dog “playing” with it. And second of all: Chickens can’t fly really far. Only some breeds of chickens can, And also it takes them a while to get set, And if I were to tell you something, It would be that the dog would not wait and it would turn out really bad, It would be even worse if it was a hunting breed. And lastly, it won’t. The whole reason the rooster is running is because he is defending his territory at the house he is at with this random new giant threat!! If I were the rooster, I would think it’s a giant bear trying to eat me and my eggs. Especially when the dog “played” with the rooster! He is trying to defend his territory and the dog doesn’t know and thinks he’s playing. Please don’t do this any longer to this poor rooster, Also I recommend to give the rooster some company. Chickens are pretty social. Gosh, I wish I could contact the owners and tell them to stop..
The owner's Instagram is linked in the video description, so you can in fact contact the owner! And I hope you do, since you seem to be genuinely experienced on the subject matter. I hope that comes across to the owner too and makes her more willing to listen to you. She NEEDS to stop letting her dog abuse this poor rooster.
I agree with what other people are commenting: the rooster appeared to be stressed and did not seem to want to engage with the dog. Please remove this video, TheDodo. Thank you.

I agree with a lot of the other comments. That poor rooster should have been protected from that dog. At first I thought it was cute, but the footage of the 2nd visit proved to me this rooster was just wanting to be left alone when it went under the truck.
Knowing next to zilch about chickens I wouldn't have thought twice about this not being play. It's important to have stuff like this up so people who don't know can learn, even if its from the comments.
Most of these people saying things like "This chicken is stressed." or "Dodo you dropped the ball.." have never actually owned a chicken and get their propaganda from biased sources that have no personal experience dealing with chickens and predators. I have owned chickens and here's my take: Yes, chickens do become stressed out by predators. That being said, I had a chicken and her name was bread, when bread spotted a dog/fox/hawk, she would bolt the opposite way and scream whilst flapping her wings violently. Sometimes she would take flight over a few meters to evade what she knew to be a threat. Eventually, she would find a spot to hide and remain there for around half an hour. This is not that, this chicken isn't in harms way and it knows that. There was also a neighborhood cat that my mother disliked, anyways, Bread and this cat got along and would often sit and enjoy the company of one another. Chickens know when they've had enough and will flee accordingly. Overall, this is a great video and an example of a chicken playing with an animal that isn't a threat.
I’m pretty sure the rooster is being defensive and trying to chase her out of his territory. When he fanned out the neck feathers, I knew he wasn’t playing. I have 24 chickens and 2 of them are roosters. Had a neighbors dog come over to “play chase” with my chickens once, gave one of our old roosters a heart attack(he died from that).
Interesting. The only thing I don't like are the words 'get him.' 1:40 / 3:06 After watching again, the lady says he could get away from her if he really wanted to but he does't. Meanwhile the rooster is trying to get away.

I know longer think this is cute/funny. The rooster is being territorial. He is not a happy camper. I do think the dog is cute though. I feel bad for the rooster.
I'm not so sure about this one, I think it's a Dodo fail. The rooster is not having fun, he's defending his territory and honestly, I don't think it's "fun" for the dog, he's doing what he is supposed to do, herd and I noticed the video had been edited when they were chasing each other around the stack of pallets, I wonder if the dog got the chicken down on the ground and it was taken out? Idk, this one left me puzzled.

Definitely think she needs to keep it apart from the dog. Could end up rather violent while she’s off laughing one day. Not usually a party pooper but just saying.
People have a deeply seated need to anthropomorphicize animal behaviour because we don't really understand it. So, imagining that animals do things for the same reasons we humans do them is a convenient but mistaken answer to the riddle. However, it has made for some very good stories. The original ( not Disney's) " Wind in the Willows" comes to mind.
yeah i agree. but dogs do play .. the god is play .. the rooster acting on instinct .. which isd likely good therapy for him. the danger for the rooster is that one day a big dog acting on instinct comes into the yard .. but from my experience with chickens in a case like that Duke would just stay under the car.
@@kostapapa1989 different animals behave and think differently, dogs find chasing each other to be a game but chickens don't do that
@@phuck8627 I'm more worried about the rooster.
This is the first time I have felt upset after watching a Dodo video. That poor rooster... :-(
Pfft. A rooster can F you up if they want. It's like when people think that Geese are defenseless. Really? Make one angry, find out just how defenseless they are..
@@fuzzywzhethe point is the rooster is stressed from the situation and the ppl think it’s all fun

@@cherylgawne711 Well, I admittedly don't know much of anything about poultry, so I could be wrong, but this rooster doesn't seem to be really trying. It's not flapping its wings. I have seen angry poultry before but it's been a while.

@@cherylgawne711 I don't think I'd allow my dog to do this either unless the rooster initiated it. Squirrels would mess with my dogs at times.
I think the owners to calm their dog down for a bit. I'm a Little bit concern about the rooster
It isn’t the dogs fault. The dog just sees the rooster as another dog playing with each other
The Dodo you need to evaluate a video before posting it. The videos should be able to educate and inspire the people to be compassionate to animals.
Yeah
You are right though..... Good morning from here....how are you doing?

@@barbararab6390 hi
You just can’t enjoy the video for what it is ? Two animals playing , oh the horror. Get a life.
Ruffled neck feathers, striking position-rooster is ready to open a can of whoop-ass. When he kicked up his spurs, dog got aggressive and could have hurt/killed the rooster. Agree with others here. Dodo and narrator messed up.
I fear for the dog’s eyes too. That rooster is stressed
I expected the rooster to keel over dead from stress.
Um the Rooster is under the truck because it's scared. 🥺
@Roy Dunn Both
The poor rooster..
@@Yoarashi abuse? Now that’s a reach
@@tamarapowell8982 no, it is absolutely abuse to the rooster. That is NOT play for the rooster.. just for the dog.

Uh...it's not cute-
This is a rooster being territorial and stressed and a dog trying to heard it.
Herd.
This isn't funny. The rooster is stressed out trying to protect its space. You also have a child watching and laughing at this.
If this isn't stopped. It wouldn't ended well for the rooster.
The rooster and dog are having fun
I agree with what other people are commenting: the rooster appeared to be stressed and did not seem to want to engage with the dog. Please remove this video, TheDodo. Thank you.
That chicken ain't playen.
Most of the comments: The rooster is not having fun
And now I can see these .

Hi how are you doing? Hopefully you are having a great day..... Good morning from here.... Am lucas from mexico but I live in winchester massachusetts in USA and you? Hope you don't mind if we get to know each other hopefully we can be friends right?
Hi..yeah
How are you doing?
I love different animals playing and living together.
Ummm I'm pretty sure that rooster isn't playing, I used to have hens and roosters back in my parents' home, those roosters are teritorial, they chase because they want to peck, that Duke just stopped because he was tired. 😂
@@MrWillypanda88 either way. Still entertaining. But Duke could hurt the dog in face if he really wanted to. They may actually be buddies.
@@codymccabe9050 you bet, once, I saw my hen with her chicks chasing and pecking my dog on his head, took a while for us to separate them (the dog was running with her on his head).
@@codymccabe9050 Its entertainment for you But for them its stressful.
@@spam_lc2581 they both may actually be having fun together. Too bad animal kingdom and humans cant communicate through voices. Body language can tell you alot. Neither animal seemed stressed out to me. By the narrator, sounds like the enjoying seeing each others.
That's aggression not play from the chicken. This isn't cute!!! I forgive the person recording but shame on you the dodo. You damn well know better
Rooster : This is not a game. I will defend my territory with my life.
Dog: Duh.
The rooster is trying to fight the dog and protect it's hens. I have chickens and I know alot
I agree with the other commentators in that it doesn’t seem like the rooster is ‘playing’ at all. It seems stressed and probably exhausted after having to deal with the dog
Agreed
Forget watching tv. Just watch these two chasing each other around.
I agree with a lot of the other comments. That poor rooster should have been protected from that dog. At first I thought it was cute, but the footage of the 2nd visit proved to me this rooster was just wanting to be left alone when it went under the truck.
That bird is STRESSED 😥
@@Harold-Is-My-Online-Name-Safeya… I have chickens…
The bird is NOT having fun and the situation is dangerous for both animals especially the bird
I am so sorry to hear that😢. Thank you for sharing your experience in order to help raise awareness.
"why did the chicken cross the road?"

Interesting. The only thing I don't like are the words 'get him.'
1:40 / 3:06 After watching again, the lady says he could get away from her if he really wanted to but he does't.
Meanwhile the rooster is trying to get away.
"I think he secretly enjoys it." Secretly means you know that the rooster doesn't enjoy it, but you film it for your entertainment. That is cruel.
Ya… that rooster isn’t having fun😳😔
When I first saw the tittle I was like I think u mixed it up u sure it not the dog love chasing roaster buy no I am wrong😂

I wonder if we're all here things they're having a great time and the Rooster is one bark away from a heart-attack!
that is NOT a happy rooster. as another commenter pointed out: Dodo you dropped the ball on this one.

Thankyou so much for sharing this video! The voice over really made it that much more enjoyable! Nice work!
I know longer think this is cute/funny. The rooster is being territorial. He is not a happy camper. I do think the dog is cute though. I feel bad for the rooster.
That looks like a Videos from Disney or something 😂. Adorable.

Flight of the Bumblebee is the perfect music.
Is this lady just not educated on the animals she keeps? The rooster isn’t enjoying it, he’s actually stressed. You can tell when it’s raising its feet. Definitely think she needs to keep it apart from the dog. Could end up rather violent while she’s off laughing one day. Not usually a party pooper but just saying.
Such a nice reply. My first thought on watching this video wasn't so compassionate re. the owner of the dog!

It's so cute and funny at the same time! 🥰😭
Those spurs are sharp

(if he made it that far)
Poor rooster just trying to defend his territory. 😣
This is sooo adorable
