  • The organ in the Evangelisch-Reformeirte Kirche in the village of Westerhusen, Ostfriesland was erected by Jost Sieburg in 1642/43. The lower part of the case and much of the pipework come from an earlier Gothic organ. Despite possessing just 7 stops it speaks with a forthright and colourful voice as can be heard here in Sietze de Vries's splendid improvised tour of the different ranks and colour combinations.
Alas, I failed to capture the first part of the demonstration; I didn't press the 'record' button down sufficiently! Mercifully I noticed my mistake just in time to catch the sound of the rasping Renaissance 'Trompete' stop, one of the very oldest surviving such ranks in the world.

This is so perfect! Wich composers does this actually imitate? Gabrielli and Praetorius? I would say that many good people would fail in a organ with one single small keyboard and few registers. it requires way more imagination , finger, and brain.
