    I appreciate your deeply Socratic teaching method. Your ability to raise objections that are quick to arise in my mind to your own points and deconstruct them is very helpful for fully grasping your point.

      According to the popular messages-received (or causal) theory of perception itself, there could be no evidence for the reality of anything beyond the messages themselves! It’s not even possible to tell that those objects come from anything beyond themselves at all. We never, supposedly, experience anything beyond those so-called messages. All such indirect theories of perception should be abandoned for direct theories as Butchvarov has shown recently and Berkeley showed centuries ago.

    Swamiji, I thank you for your lucid teachings on Avaita Vedanta. Your clarity has reached far and wide as I know yogis in Rarotonga and in New Zealand who seek out your illuminating explanations. I hope you continue to bless us with these lessons. I often question why as beings we are not often born with this understanding of self? It seems as though this life is a classroom where we suffer in ignorance until enlightened but I'm not sure what the Vedas say of this. Namaskaram

    Here's a key to sense control: Each sense perception is an expressions of an "Elemental" force, i.e. Mahabhuta - either Akasha (Hearing), Air (Touching), Fire (Seeing), Water (Tasting) and/or Earth (Smell) or a combination thereof. Each element has a nature and corresponds to 1 of the lower 5 Chakras (Throat down to Base/Root Chakras). Understanding that your personal "sensory awareness" is made up of these 5 elemental forces is a real key to mastering your senses and consciousness. My 2 Cents! - John M. USA - Namaste!

    Dear Swamiji, thank you very much for these videos. It has been very helpful for me to calm my mind. But, as you and Vedanta's teachings stress on having no doubts whatsoever on the teachings, i ask these questions. i can accept that even in deep sleep we are conscious of ourselves, because when we wake up we know that we had been in deep sleep. But, what of, medically induced unconsciousness. I have experienced myself being on the operating table, then given anesthesia, then when I wake up, I am completely disoriented because I experienced no gap between when i came on to the operating table and when I woke up on it. I had to ask the nurses whether the operation was over, because I had no sense of time in between. What does this speak of my Consciousness?

    • @TheFos88
      @TheFos88 4 роки тому

      I would like to know this as well. I've been given anesthesia before as well as using psychoactive substances that have rendered my awareness to very little or none at all.

    • @stormboy6677

    • @techviewpoint7837
      @techviewpoint7837 4 роки тому

      There are many real life examples when the person who is being operated, after waking up from anesthesia was able to tell what the doctors were speaking and everyone's role in the operation room. They claim they were able to see their own body being operated upon.

    I can't get my head around one thing; when he says you "will be reborn" he obviously does not refer to your body or mind, but also he can't be referring to the unborn consciousness, so he's implying that there is something other than our body-mind that retains its individuality; so what would that be?

      That which reborns is your 'Sukshma Sharira'. Sukhsma Sharira means your mind, power, prana and senses. As your dead body can't walk, smell, imagine or breathe, these qualities belong to your Sukshma sharira. Keep in mind, you are not your sukshma sharira either. You are just carrying that with you in another human body. That is the cycle he is referring. Obviously, we are pure consiousness, unborn, unchanging, vast and infinite. But our sukshma sharira is not, thus taking rebirths. This cycle will go on until we as a pure consiousness will realize or get enlightened or get liberated or get moksha or get Mukti. You can name whatever you want but once you (pure consiousness) gets the point, there will be no longing left to take your sukhma sharira in another sthula sharira to fulfill any desires. You will be one with the nature. Yoga = Union. That's the end of a game.
      I look at it this way, this is puzzle given by nature to us which we are supposed to solve. You can solve it joyfully or miserably, it's up to us. main goal of the puzzle is to become one with the nature(Mukti, moksha, Enlightnment). There would be no fun if we already knew the way to solve the puzzle. We should be excited to play this game like a small kid. Which will make this process much more fun and enjoyable. Unfortunately, most human beings are not interested in playing the game and are so much invested in their misery. And because of that they are no more excited to play this game anymore. hence, going in cycles( reborn) thinking the puzzle will solve itself without playing it. Or rather without involvement or excitement of exploration. Thus, making it seem much more difficult to solve the mystery. I hope I could convey my opinion clearly and with due respect I don't know everything about spirituality nor I'm anywhere near enlightenment. I'm a seeker just like you and everybody else. But let's joyfully solve this game and maintain our enthusiasm towards enlightnment. Om Shanti.

    Praanam. Sir, it is clear that Aathma doesn't get affected by vrittis...But Athma after entering into a new body(rebirth. )does it retains or remembers the vrittis of past ????

    Sir, with all due respect...Why did you start referring Aathma as consciousness...With my limited knowledge, what I understood is consciousness is one of the three attributes of Aathma.
    Since consciousness is pervasive can we say that Aathma is pervasive.
    My apologies if I sound stupid...
    Pranaam.

      They are all imagined. Distinctions between these are all imagined and distractions of personally discovering self introspection and realisation of God to be one and the same.
      Hence self realisation is more important than any so-called separate identity known as liberation, freedom and so on. The whole World stage is just a play of hide and seek, where we seek liberation of which is hiding in our own hands. An act. A drama on a Great stage. Thus is the Play between the eternal dance of the Cosmos. Realisation of this play is beyond liberation. Liberation is too a game, something to be played with, have it or not is of no value/unidentified, what is valuable is the beauty in the play, it is a nice game. The universe becomes one's playing board.
      Radha is the playing board, the game created for Krishna, appearing/disappearing. Much as the realised one is joyfully entertained with the eternal cosmos, all while allowing this devinity to remind us it's all a play.
      Be blessed. Be peaceful. May the glorious journey of this realisation bring you to eternal contentment ❤

    So,. if we think of consciousness as the clay, we could think of our minds as individual potters. In the Christian Faith, the original goal is to have The Messiah Yashua break down the vessel and remake it in his design.???

    What reason you have to say MIND AND CONSCIOUSNESS ARE DIFFERENT?

    • @Miculjka

      Mind is simply an object that consciousness observes, essentially not very different from any other object in existence.

      Mente é o fenômeno, consciência é o saber desses fenômenos. Procure os mestres da meditação no budismo. O Budha ensinou o dharma com maestria cirúrgica. Estude com eles, é saia da ignorância.

      Who is that talking and what are you talking about!
      Oh, just realised they are two... The talker(experiencer) and that which is talked (experienced) However are one as inherently born from consciousness. For all there is is consciousness. Jai 🙏

    Swami, where doe consciousness go during a drunken black out or during a coma? There is no waking state, no dream state, no deep dream state.. One minute you are awake and aware the next minute people are telling you hours or days have passed and you have experienced it as an instant, how can this be?

    • @SampathGopi
      @SampathGopi 5 років тому +2

      @jon Morris The experience during coma or drunken blackout is not any different from deep sleep experience, in the sense that, when you come back from that state, you say, "I don't know", "I didn't experience anything". This statement implicitly means that you were verymuch present, but, you didnot experience any objects.

    I have a question Swamiji....is consciousness limited to bodies or it is even outside the body...and if it is outside the body how do we explain that

    • @jshdhdyjfjdjfhfyyene731
      @jshdhdyjfjdjfhfyyene731 Рік тому

      If it is experienced or an experience you have been riddled. It is the blank canvas where known and unknown are projected upon. The underlying reality or backdrop where there is no you yet there is to only witness the backdrop unidentified with any projection.
      And that backdrop is none other than you meaning where self realisation begins.
      Hence self realisation is more important than any so-called separate identity known as liberation, freedom and so on. The whole World stage is just a play of hide and seek, where we seek liberation of which is hiding in our own hands. An act. A drama on a Great stage.
