Ukraine has so many great athletes. I have been much heartened to see them still out and competing. They train their butts off and this is one more huge hurtle they have to overcome.
I believe Ukraine produces the most and the best female high jumpers in the world. Yaroslav is a prime example of someone who is on her way to setting new indoor and outdoor world records. You can see this by the amount of clearance still left between her back and the bar at her highest jumps. If she can add a couple of inches to her vertical take-off, she'll have it made. I see she does box jumps. Does she do squat jumps, weighted squat jumps, burpees, jumping jacks or linear jumps, which all increase fast-twitch muscle fibre for vertical jumps. those exercises are almost useless for jumping higher. I have to believe Yaroslava is holding back her real useful jumping exercises. (from a guy who jumped like a 'roo)
last year after the Olympics she got call by Ukraine defense minister because during medal ceremony she made frieandly chat and hug the Russian queen on podium
