Maybe you could change the front door to open the other way, away from the island. Might make the placement of the air vent less of an issue as well because you wouldn’t step on it as much.

For the bath, you should get a cute pitcher! Fill it from the tap as many times as you need to rinse the tub.

I agree on the dishwasher. I grew up without one and when I finally moved on my own and had one, I figured out that it’s more work to rinse, load, wait, and unload rather than just washing the dishes in the sink. Especially for a single person.

Totally - Michael grew up with them and he doesn't agree AT ALL. Lol.

I agree with all you said especially the shower 🚿 so you can hose off after cleaning. I have a over head shower and 1 for hosing off. I used to clean house's as a job,so have learned over many years, what you need and don't. Good luck with the house search. 😊

Use a mop and bucket for the bathtub, no bending over, fill the bucket in the shower and pour to rinse!

Also, you don't have to rinse the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher - just scrape away any food residue in the bin. If they don't come clean it's a dishwasher issue, not a rinsing one. ;-)

You can buy facuet attachments that will allow you to rince your tub. Its not the prettiest looking. But it'll get the job done.

Thank you for this video❤ I’m about to start some major renovations on my place as I prepare to move my parents into the main floor and I’ll take the basement. (So o can care for them easier than now) I need to make my bungalow Accessible for disabled elderly and I’m adding about 10-12’ to the north side of my home and about the same amount to the south side. The south side will be more of a “mud room” and coat/boot, etc storage. I am no where even close to having an eye for decorating or remodelling so it’s going to be one heck of a challenge 😳 Your place, looks amazing 🤩 I love the details and the colours ❤

For the front door, why don’t you swap out the hinges so it swings open the opposite way?

We are two people, and we run our dishwasher like every other day, haha. Also, you don't need to rinse your dishes! The detergent needs something to do haha.

    • @TashaLeelyn

Like shouldn’t the dishwasher be able to WASH THE DISH. I’m glad you said this. I’m gonna test the theory when Michael’s not looking.

    • @missmichelle652

@TashaLeelyn I would scrape the dishes into the garbage and try to avoid larger chunks of food going in the dishwasher, but grease, sauces, and food residue is totally fine. If the detergent doesn't have a job to do, you're way more likely to have a soapy taste left over on your dishes.
Other tips if you're interested. 1. Run the hot water at your kitchen sink to make sure hot water is ready in the pipes. This will help your dishwasher to pull in hot water and not just a bunch of cold water. 2. Put your detergent in the detergent spot in the door. Don't throw it in loosely like all those tiktok videos said. If you do that, most of your soap gets wasted in the pre-wash and leaves almost nothing for the actual wash cycle.
