    I'm out in manitoba, good to see a fellow Canadian.. I enjoy watching the vids. Good for me to learn others experiences. I never thought excavator would be enjoyable.. but it's fun.. somethijg about swinging mud never gets old.

    Good Stuff bud, I been operating for over 20 plus years now and havent pipelined for sometime and a guy just forgets some shit over time. This is the exact reason why we need more channels such as yours for guys that are bouncing around from civil, oilsands, oil and gas, reclamation, etc.....keep up the Great work my man.

    Digging excavator isn't about yourself or paycheck. Thanks for showing the safety steps- literally, for other workers.

    I should have watched this a few weeks ago, I took a flow line job and didn't understand exactly what they wanted me to do. I was fully capable after watching this. yet they let me go lol. Mainly terminoligy, not lack of operator skills.

      Same thing happened to me breaking out on pipeline ditch coming from water and sewer ditch, I blew right past the loose end/bell-hole. They kept me around but not on ditch Lol.

    Nice work man! Dug pipeline ditch for alot of years in western canada. I always had to remind people that you can have the prettiest ditch/bellholes out there, but if you don't take the time to make sure the pipe fits, it can be a colossal waste of time.
    Sadly, even with GPS on some of the big inch jobs, it can still be a struggle .

    • @efficientexcavations
      @efficientexcavations  4 роки тому +1

      Agree 100%, I’ve been asked numerous times to go fix bell holes I didn’t dig where the pipe wasn’t fitting. I always say you should get the guy that dug it to go back and fix it. Then he can learn from it.
      I’ve often wondered how well GPS works on pipeline. Seems to me their would be issues with engineering the grades once you got to over bends, sags, or more so gradual roping of the pipe like coming out of a bore?

      @@efficientexcavations I found its a handy tool for speed on mainline. It also helps with deep cuts where the grade rod can't reach. It definitely requires a ton of calibration just to make sure every machine is digging properly to the profile. Of course, if bending or engineering starts to get a little western, then nothing fits or your pipe doesn't have cover. But that can happen without it of course lol.

    Nice work. Love it. Question: does the cellar get filled in and packed after they are done connecting the pipes ?

    • @efficientexcavations
      @efficientexcavations  4 роки тому +1

      Typically inspectors are happy when you squeeze dirt in from both sides with your bucket during shading/backfill. Some jobs they want sand bags, but never seen it actually packed in one foot lifts like a civil job.

      @@efficientexcavations most pipelines are on areas that wont have traffic. Usually only to big substations and where roads go over do you find the tight specs on compaction.

    Kinda nice but you should have stairs on both sides , should have access/egress on both sides and if you dig stairs you’ll save on the ladders. Good basement/cellar placement.

    • @efficientexcavations
      @efficientexcavations  2 дні тому

      Not sure where you’re from but here in Alberta, Canada as long as you have access/egress within 7.5 meters of a worker you’re fine. I’ve never put stairs on ditch side unless doing facility work, on mainline pipeline their is no reason to need access to the spoil pile

    • @jefflevesque4581
      @jefflevesque4581 2 дні тому

      @ don’t know who your digging for in the pipeline , but at bell hole’s especially at tie in points you most certainly do need access/egress on both sides of the pipe. I’ve been digging pipeline ditch for 25 years

    • @efficientexcavations
      @efficientexcavations  2 дні тому

      Weird, you must be a big inch pipeliner. I’ve never seen stairs on both sides doing small inch pipeline. Been digging for 22 years 🍻

    Only one thing I have to say. In the U.S. if OSHA sees these steps or what they consider to be a landing if someone falls and is injured they will write the contractor a citation. To OSHA they will measure these steps and if they are not 11 inches by 7 inches I would be in violation of OSHA standards. I’ve been caught before

    • @efficientexcavations

      That’s just ridiculous, is it not? Up here in Canada if it snowed those would be a slip n slide. I like to make them longer so you can shovel them off in the winter and they don’t turn into a chicken run with all the ice build up
