- Ytse Jam by Dream Theater
(by the way ytse jam is Majesty backwards witch was written on one of mike portnoy's bass drum skin because it was thei're old band name before they had to change it for copyrights reason or something like that ??)
I like the name Dream Theater better than Majesty, but I have to admit, Ytse Jam sounds much better than Retaeht Meard
my favorite song, Retard Beard
😳 never knew that backwards spelled majesty
It would be retaeht maerd. Not retaeht meard.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
thumbs up if you think John Myung is one of the most under-rated bassist ever
Love him
Anytime Myung picks a song to write the lyrics for, you know the song's gonna be awesome.
Lyrics by John Myung.
Ferret Archer more like John Myung on vocals cuz he actually writes lyrics
+Ferret Archer Myung is one of the best lyricists ever! He could make his bass guitar sing like no one else! :D #BassGasm
+robert brykted he has youtube uploads that show concepts of bass, some videos are 40 plus minutes of him speaking
+robert brykted definitely! He's absolutely excellent..
+robert brykted - Same here. Saw the world premier video for Pull Me Under on Headbangers Ball with Rikki Rachtman. Had it recorded on VHS. 14 years old...guitar in hand. Literally wore the tape out learning the first minute and a half of that tune. First song I ever attempted to learn by ear. 25 years later....DT is my favorite band ever. Been to 11 shows. Got the Majesty symbol tattoed on my forearm. Guitar is like breathing to me. NEVER ending quest for the ultimate tone. Trying to be as disciplined as humanly possible on the instrument. JP and DT have literally changed my life.
My brother found this CD at a dollar store in 1992. He played it for me and I immediately went to the same store and they had one left... Best deal ever! A few weeks later I found I&W for $5 at a campus CD store and was completely blown away by what these guys were doing.
I love Kevin Moore Keyboard sounds..... Perfect skills.....
this is the metal that people used to listen in the ancient egypt
Especially at 2:45
effect of phrygian scale 🤟
I was there Gandalf, I was there 3000 years ago...
Lol
Rush, Metallica and Yes all thrown into one. Love DT.
Lyrics by John Myung.
helterskelter1178 yeah.... except lars urlwich lol
So agree, but I am a huge Rush fan🎸
@@AlanJOrtiz lol
@@chesterchuastudio3058 tell me you agree with this 😂
Kevin moore rules
One of the best rock/metal compositions of all time!
It's amazing if we think they composed this song when they were a bunch of teenagers and after almost 3 decades is still one of the best instrumental piece you can find around. Also the audience can't wait to hear it live, more than many other songs!
alexlanza7&9 but in concert they play astonishing...
I know that, last year they played Astonishing live, and this year new tour for the 25 years of Images and Words, I saw them in Milan 2 weeks ago, awesome!!!!
But let me explane it better, I ment it's very well known that Ytse Jam is one of the most recognizable instrumental by DT and the audience love to hear it live!
Ytse Jam
maJ estY
Holy shit
Wow. Over 15 years and I never noticed that.
No shit Sherlock
Yes i'm understand
D:
2:45 that part always reminds me of Metal Slug 2
Hah! I hear it
god damn lol
the egyptian too, metal slug X
It sounds like it could definitely be in metal slug
true
Great song, always gets my fingers warmed up!!
This is an interesting example of playing in Harmonic Minor
Amazing song! I used to hear this entire disc a lot in my teenager.
this disc was in your teenager?
Hope you got it out
I forgot how legendary this song was. Picked up my guitar 8 years later and I still remember >.< jesus xD
masterpiece
Powerful song, when Progressive Metal was something new.
I love the description here. So genuine
Best DT instrumental song!
Dominici's best vocal performance by a long shot
wtf :v
Chris Collins and Steve Stone would like yo know your location
lmao
Lmao
He doesn't sing...it's instrumental
Bro thank you so much for compiling this. My brothers and I had the tape of this and used to listen to it religiously. You're a legend.
Absolutely. In terms of technical playing, he's not the best, but the tightness and consistency of his upstrokes, he is the best rhythmist out there.
I couldn't tell if they changed names because of another band called Majesty, but one thing for sure, the name came from the adjective Mike Portnoy used to describe the ending of Rush's "Bastille Day".
22 years later, still the best DT keyboard solo.
That hook is so good oml
John Petrucci is amazing.
Great and melodic! This music would be great in a platform video game!
Great Song. Bt the Way, This song is named after the band's original name. Majesty. Ytse Jam is Majesty Backwards.
John Petrucci
John Bonham
John Lennon
John Myung
Johnny Cash
Johnny Christ
John Legend
John Paul Jones
So many Johns.
+josh conder John 5, Jon Bon Jovi, John Mayer, Johnny Ramone, Johnny Rotten, John (Ozzy) Osbourne,
+MrDreamTheater2 Here it's Jovan.
+josh conder John Cena
johnny christ shouldn't be there
why not?
that intro gives me chills
The guy looks just like MatPat
Nicky Murray hahaha dude you're right
That was the first thing I thought of when I saw it.
Nicky Murray he looks like a human version of Max steel
But thats just a theory....A DREAM THEATER THEORY
Lol, I thought that was a girl at first.
Man, so young and already kicking ass!
IIRC, Petrucci and Portnoy were standing outside MSG waiting to enter a rush concert and one of them commented that rush sounded "majestic". They l8r called the band they formed @ Berklee college "majesty", but had 2 change it because there was already a band by that name. I think it was Portnoy's father who suggested the name "dream theater". I read that somewhere a long time ago, maybe wikkipedia.
HAHA GOLD! Metropolis Part 3: Songs of The Ancient Egyptians
Love the bass line in this song!!
heaven
this is what happens when dream theater is jamming...
Absolute perfection
john myung is amazing!!
Orgasmo musical. Progresivo a full!!
simply great...
XD I never realized Ytsejam is Majesty backwards. Thanks! =D
They're amazing...
at 2:45 its so crazy! one of the best song of dream theater ive ever heard!
Amazing instrumental, standout track of the album for me
"Ermah gerd, Retaeht Meard!"
Yeah, I think you're right.
yeah, wasnt copyright as such but they had a gig and was another band on the set called majesty so they had to change
Perfect
GREAT TUNE!
this is some old but good stuff right here
It's like in Bebop where they do a riff and then everybody takes turns doing a shit ton of improv. Awesome.
I wish Dream Theater would remaster this album. It has great songs but the sound quality is crap
It goes beyond mastering - source tones, engineering and mixing were all flawed. Then again it was the late 80's and their budget was way smaller than it is now
I'm sure the original recording has a better sound quality than a heavily compressed youtube video uploaded 10 years ago.
The only flaw with this album imo is the gated snare sound MP's using...
Sad that a few of those are no more in the group 🤔 i think, actually, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE
DreamTheater1297 honestly I’d much rather them re-record this album since technology has obviously improved greatly since the late 80s.
They actually can't do that because they don't own the rights to the recordings.
love that song
great song god damn...
@VitinhoRPBR The logo comprises the greek letters My, Alpha and Phi. My and Alpha are obviously M and A, but Phi represents a ph sound. The greek letter Psi later became Y in Latin, but this was still pronounced ps.
This song just wins :)
@AttitudeCastle the logo is actually the symbol for phi (the golden ratio found in everything) and the two m's
Playing this on bass, a blast.
love the begining riff pretty sweet
@samuelbirtles
If you mean the Dream Theater Logo its based Mary Queen of Scots personal Insignia. Either way, its awesome!
It must be kind of strange knowing that inevitably, someone out there looks just like the man on the album cover.
ShatteredWindowpane Someone I know looks exactly like the guy in the album cover.
ShatteredWindowpane Yes and he runs a large UA-cam channel called "TheGameTheorists"
@@bradyward2177 xddd
@@bradyward2177 well great, now I can't unsee it
This is the first track i heard by deram theater , my friend tolled me it was mind blowing. I agree i live this track.
Best Boos Music EVER
Well now! I'm a huge DT fan but I just realized Ytse Jam is Majesty backwards...
Mike's drum parts are really cool.
You know what? This stuff is pretty damn awesome.
ENTERTAINING instrumental!!!!!!!!!
this album is GREAT
0:52... Ridley's theme from Metroid games?
Daniel Martínez Teruel Yea they based it off this song. just like doom did with their music
It isn't only this song! Panic Attack reminds me of it too! I hope it's intentional.
Reminds me of Prince of persia the sands of time, i used to play it alot on the ps2
Sneik xd Yeah you're right, reminds me of PoP too
Now I can't unhear it
To me, that was their best period.
majesty ytsejam
Catalina C.D oh shit
yste jam= it is a jam = Majesty, good song
Their the greatest!!!!
i hate this song for only 1 reason: it has an end
2002?...u mean to say the song was made in that year!!!? no way man...check out their discography..this album came out in 89 and this song was one of the 1st songs they ever wrote
They changed the name cuz there was already a band named Majesty (a really unpopular band) but they never thought they would make it big so they switched to Dream Theater so they wouldn't get mixed up
omg ... eargasm
They didn't change it for copyright. MP's dad had heard of a movie theater called dream theater and he suggested it to the band.
@LightsOfShadows I've listened to all of their albums. And I actually have Metropolis pt 2. And yes I prefer When dream and day unite
@BassManGilbert
You know, that's what I had origionally said, but then I listened to some of their epic's, like a change of seasons and Octavarium and now they are my favorite band.
really² perfect song....
You are correct.
YEAH!
We all love Dream Theater. ALL!
majesty = ytse jam
never realised
great song!
Curious Fact: If you read Ytse Jam backwards it says Majesty, Majesty is the first original name of Dream Theater with Petrucci, Myung and Portnoy.
If I took this song to compete Is a lot of merit to my hands
I may have misinterpreted what i really wanted to share. There are MANY AMAZING BANDS...Queensryche, Styx, White Lion, Simon and Garfunkel, Kansas, Chicago, Eagles, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, and a whole slew of great bands from ALL genres, which includes Rakim, KRS-1, and whoa baby, I can go on.....but as a Rush and Dream Theater fan, being ostracized with pathetic, synthetic, autotuned vocals and false musicianship, perhaps u see why i say, there is NO Comparison!
O________O
When did I mention that their musical ability was comparable to their album covers? All I'm saying is that they've risen so much in popularity and pretty much changed they genre they play in entirely since their first album. And by the way it does show how far they've come, they've developed their own personality as a band, with their trademark font and symbol, and their own following, which would lead to them getting money, which would lead to them making cool looking album covers.
It's been years and still today, I can't play this song 100% accurately in the guitar, so difficult! But it makes me improve though!
yes, and his lyrics are the best
guitar center brought me here
Dream Theater brought me here.
Rush brought me here
Tool brought me here.
I brought myself here
A search for "YTSEJAM" brought me here.
You can still make jokes about it, independent of the band's ability.
Dream Theater is a great name, catchy too.
Nightmare Cinema sounds badass, and it's cool that they go under that pseudonym sometimes during concerts.
Eet's a jam!
To: sofsofsof
your description is correct they couldn't use the name majesty because of copy right reasons there was another band with that name at the time.
Thumbs up if you think Dream Theater should make a new version of this cd with James Labries vocals
esto es magia pura
Mrvulgaris i actually kind of agree with u. most of the stuff from this album ive heard does seem with out a structure. fortunately this song is the exception and is one of the best instrumentals ive ever heard
