If he embraces his demonic nature, the end result would be 2011 Lord X. If he decided to stick the goal of being Sonic and wanting to embrace the role he disguised himself as, 2017x is the result.

As I said on the official upload of Subterfuge, 2017 X seems a lot less ill-willed than his more iconic counterparts. He's not a good guy, not by a longshot, but he's more disillusioned into his own beliefs that he is Sonic the savior in his own twisted way, that it feels like he doesn't get that what he's doing is utterly heinous. Kinda makes him more sympathetic in my eyes. And I think you captured that disillusion pretty well in the lyrics. Just wish we got to hear Tails sing his side, like in the original.
the reason for lack of tails is not only due to the fact that it sounds better with just one singer and no overlap, but also the fact that Tails was actually mute from being able to speak during the events of the original story, emoting with only nods and headshakes, and only screaming when he died.

That was actually my headcanon of this variant of 2017x before Revie/Raven decided to start another one an make this one be an combination between the old version and her upcoming variant. Additionally, Jevil feels like he'd accept it readily in the event sufficient evidence was brought up to counter his beliefs; meanwhile, this guy would "Ad Hominem" in the form of stabbing you.
Fits him even more considering he genuinely thinks he IS sonic and the vessel of that the player is stuck in IS also a video game character. Even though video games are clearly not reality he genuinely thinks the same logic of reality applies to video games because he thinks the video games ARE reality.
He is just really delusional which is his highlighted characteristic.
As I said on the official upload of Subterfuge, 2017 X seems a lot less ill-willed than his more iconic counterparts. He's not a good guy, not by a longshot, but he's more disillusioned into his own beliefs that he is Sonic the savior in his own twisted way, that it feels like he doesn't get that what he's doing is utterly heinous. Kinda makes him more sympathetic in my eyes.
And I think you captured that disillusion pretty well in the lyrics. Just wish we got to hear Tails sing his side, like in the original.
the reason for lack of tails is not only due to the fact that it sounds better with just one singer and no overlap, but also the fact that Tails was actually mute from being able to speak during the events of the original story, emoting with only nods and headshakes, and only screaming when he died.

That was actually my headcanon of this variant of 2017x before Revie/Raven decided to start another one an make this one be an combination between the old version and her upcoming variant.
Only that i took the "he has an mentally akin to an kid" more seriously to justify why he acts like that, and thought that if he matured, he would see the attrocious things he had done and try to act like an actual hero wihout mimicking Sonic at sick levels.
I see a lot of people saying this was inspired on silly billy, but it was the other way around! Actually, subterfudge was originally silly billy's song, but it got changed to 2017X. So technically, this came first
