Lovely design. Please take us back when the plants are established 😊
Deal!! I can’t wait! Happy gardening. Lee 🥷🌿
I love seeing this garden go from concept to reality! Great job!!
Thanks Jeff. Hopefully it will encourage others to go with the flow and welcome in wildlife friendly plants! 🥷🌿
A great job Lee. It will be interesting to see the growth over time. :-)
Yes definitely! Given I know how big some of the specimens grow it should be lush and full in a years time! Happy gardening. Lee 🥷🌿
Great design. Thanks for the explanations!
You're welcome Kristy. Glad you enjoyed it. can't wait to go back and see it in a couple of months! Lee 🥷🌿
Looks great, but I think a main weakness I've seen in all UK garden designs on UA-cam so far is them not working with the UK's rainy weather during the late spring, summer, early autumn especially: something like your 'snug' but enclosed in a small glass/plastic housing? Or a small open hut with a fire bowl? On the other hand, there are more flexible options such as using an outdoor umbrella and portable fire bowl.
Hi Barrios. That’s an interesting observation! I think it’s mainly because even with a summer house or outdoor building most people don’t realistically want to sit out in the rain even if protected from it. I tend to design for the 90% of usage. Ie the stuff that people do 90% of the time. The other 10% I always advise not to focus too heavily on. Ie having a seating area for 24 people for that once a year bbq when for 90% of the time it’s only a family of 4 sitting there. It’s the same with garden spaces. Given most people prefer to sit indoors when it’s wet or cold I don’t create spaces that I don’t think the client will use consistently. Hope that clarifies my position on not having large covered areas. Each designer is different obviously. 🥷🌿🤘
I'd love to see what this looks like in 1-2 years :)
Looks amazing! Great design and I hope you are able to do a tour in a year or two to see how it looks and fills in. Cheers
Will do! Thanks for the feedback! Lee 🥷🌿
Oh my gosh, contemporary and no box, some curved lines !! Native friendly wow!!
😂🥰🥷🌿
What a great design. I love the path dividing the lawn.
(I find it so hard to leave the gaps for the eventual mature size of plants. I'm practicing restraint by infilling with annuals.)
Hey Candace. Haha. I’m the same you just want to fill them. But patience is a virtue. It’s amazing how quickly plants will establish when looked after. 🥷🌿🤘
Great design Lee, both on paper and on ground. There seems to be many areas and 'ramblings' in such a restricted space. i'm very impressed :~} i'm sure the client is pleased, i would be, and i imagine that as the garden matures the client will certainly grow with it.
Very much looking forward to future updates on this project, in particular a summer tour and a next spring tour.
Take care my friend.
Blessings and Love.
Thanks Richard. It’s amazing how you can make a small space feel bigger by a few areas well zones and spaced. As the herbaceous stuff bulls up each space should feel really secluded. More updates to follow as it progresses! All the best! Lee 🥷🌿👍
That's a wonderful design Lee. At least the rain was good for the plants! I've been using blood & bone and root grow when planting in my garden. Did you prepare the soil before planting? I think I've not given my plants enough space when planting them, after watching how you do it. I'll see how they go and move them if they need it. I would so love for you to come sort out my garden! It's quite large, on a steep hill and most of it in the shade!
Hi Kate. Great to hear from
You and glad you like the design! We added about 15 tonnes of decent topsoil. That was the only prep. Other than that I never add anything more to the ground. The only thing I ever do is a mulch afterwards in really poor soil. Over feeding plants when you first plant them can do more harm than good. Their roots don’t reach out as they get everything they need so it can actually restrict growth with new plants. I only use feed for veggies when grown in pots as they are reliant on you for feed! Hope that helps and god I I’ve been planting too!! Lee 🥷🌿
Lovely design, the gravel path that curves through the lawn-can i ask what you used to stop the gravel moving onto the grass? Many thanks
Hi Karen. Great question. I’ve used a metal edge along the curved path. It protrudes about 3mm higher than the gravel which helps contain it. You can mow over the edge without issue. It gives a really clean edge. Happy gardening! Lee 🥷🌿
@@Gardenninja Thank you so much
Absolutely cracking Lee....as usual! HUGE congratulations on the TV deal... ! All the best from Warwickshire! 👏🏽😀
Thanks Suzi! It feels surreal. Glad you’re enjoying my vids and hello down in lovely Warwickshire! 🥷🌿🤘Lee
Love it! Nicely done. I hope we can see updates in the coming years.
Thanks Pinecone. Yes me too! I love revisiting my gardens around a year later when they’re in full swing! Happy gardening mate. Lee 🥷🌿
Very nice 💚i love paths in the gardens & the view from the back of the home you would never know there was a road that close .Thankyou for shareing theses gr8 videos Lee 👍
Yes, thanks! I'm glad you like the video content to help people with design tricks. Happy gardening Michael! 🌿🥷
Hello from sunny Liverpool... Thanks Lee
Alright there lad! ;-) The sun is actually out too! Time for a bevy I think! Happy gardening! Lee 🌿🥷
Great video and design. What software do you use to create the design?
Nothing. I hand draw and watercolour them myself. All with pencils! 🥷🌿🤘
@@Gardenninja incredible! Very skillful.
Good evening lee, Absolutely superb!! Once everything marries together it will look beautiful, cant wait until your able to revisit once it begins to wakeup. Best wishes, Terry.
Hey Terry! I know I can’t wait for the next few months either when the grasses start reaching for the stars!! 🥷🌿🥰
@@Gardenninja Morning Lee, like Jack and the bean stalk 😂 Bless you. Terry🍰
Hello from CA. Love the round lawn and curved path. I cant wait to see it all filled in in a year or two.
Hey Elsa! Great to hear from you in Cali! Bet you have better weather there right now! Happy gardening Lee 🥷🌿
Thank you for the video. It was cathartic.
Also, as you showed, always plant from the back of the bed. I cannot tell you how many times my clumsy self has trampled a wee plant because I backed myself into a corner 😅
Hahaha I still sometimes do it when I’m excited too haha. But less speed more haste! Happy gardening. Lee 🥷🌿
So lovely, I love the water feature, circular lawns always look wonderful I think. Can we have an update in a few month’s time? 😍
Yes of course!! I’ll go back at the end of summer and see how it’s progressed. Bet it’s unrecognisable when things fill out! Happy gardening. Lee 🥷🌿
Like it. Can't wait looking at the progress.
And that's why you get the big bucks, absolutely cracking that. Really like it and also love the focus on working with nature and year round interest 👌
Thanks Parkers! More and more clients are coming to me for what I call ‘living seasonal gardens’ the ones that move through the seasons rather than ones packed with evergreen blobs. It’s fantastic as it’s working with nature. This hole garden will become a mass of self seeded offspring of the originals too meaning less space for weeds and a super dreamy look when it’s all established. Thanks for the feedback! Lee 🥷🌿
I like the water feature where can I source this.
Absolutely fantastic design! I love how you sectioned it off to different areas. When are you coming over to do my garden in Northern Ireland!? Keep us posted 👍
Hey Nathan! Hahaha I don’t know if I’m coming or going at the moment my schedules chocca but never say never! Glad you like it. 🥷🌿👍
Did you pave over the manhole cover?.If so, then that was not very bright...unless you did so that it was accessible. Is it still easily accessible....could not see.
Haha no it wasn’t paved over. It’s an inset tray. Which you can then pave. Used to disguise the grid. I use them in most designs where grids are found. Still accessible but not the eyesore! Happy gardening. Lee 🥷🌿
What an absolutely beautiful garden…great job. What was the name of the largest tree on the edge of the grass and is it quick growing and dose it require full sunny or would it do as well in a shaded area of the garden?
Hey Zake. There’s Betula (birch) pretty fast growing wet or heavy conditions) Prunus serrula (Tibetan cherry) not too fast likes a bit of free draining and then lastly Amelanchier. Doesn’t mind part shade or a bit of clay but nothing water logged. Happy gardening! Lee 🥷🌿
Fantastic tips Lee :D
Thanks David! 🥷🌿
Aaah another boss video ... love it “ do your own thing”👍🏻👍🏻 💖🪴🥷👍🏻
Always! Why follow the pack doing the same old boring thing time and time again! Hehehe I'm in Liverpool for my first Garden Rescue episode with Charlie Dimmock, its on BBC 1 at 3.45 Friday 28th May. I wonder who won the scouselands?! ;-) 🌿🥷
Loving your clips Lee. Would be good to see more stuff on wildflowers in gardens or creating wildlife corridors.
