Great tip my friend. These pulleys can be crazy expensive for what they are. Hopefully this video will save a few people some hard earned cash. And oh yeah… CONGRATULATIONS ON REACHING 500 SUBS! 🦅🇺🇸
For sure especially when they still have a bit of life left in them. At least get the yard cut a few times while parts are on order in the very least. Thanks you very much Steve!!!! I can’t believe so many folks are enjoying the content.
I’m right there with you. I usually use a grease needle as well, but wanted to show folks an easy way to do it with basic tools. A grease needle gets in there quickly.
Congrats Alex on reaching 500 subscribers! 👏👏 Nice tip on greasing a dry but good bearing. Thats alot better than having to buy a new one. I always like to see useful tips that anyone can do. Have a great Memorial Day weekend! ✌👍🇺🇸 Roger
Thank you so much Roger. I’m blown away!!! I’m just hoping it helps someone save a few bucks, or someone in a pinch. I hope you have a wonderful memorial weekend as well, and always appreciate your support. 😎🤘
I've done it for years.. but.. use your finger to keep sliding the grease around and forcing it into the race until it won't hold anymore grease. I always use a grease gun and leave the bearings in place. you don't have to clean up the bearing cover and then just snap the cover back in and use a small flat screwdriver to make sure it is pushed in place. Glad you showing others what to do at least every few years. The bearings will last forever. NOTHING is ever permanently greased. That is a lie. 🙂 thanks.
Thank you as always John. Hope you have success if you try this little tip. Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend, and greatly appreciate the support.
Good day eh!!! Nice tip and a good way to prolong the bearings. The tricky part is getting that seal out. You did a nice job on that part!! Take care!!!
Yes the tricky part is getting that seal out without damaging it. I’m hoping this helps some folks get a little more life on their pulleys. Thank you so much for stopping by, and have a great weekend. 😎
Yup, saving bearings that aren’t really worn is a good thing to do! I also pull the seals off spindle bearings to do the same thing. Yes, you can just throw money at these and replace pulleys and spindles, but I really like saving my money and spending a little time cleaning and repacking any bearings I can. Instead of a brush or just using your hands to repack the grease I use my small pistol grip grease gun to deposit the grease exactly where I want it and then smush it in with my finger. This is the same grease gun I use on chainsaw bars, etc.
Just re grease 12 bearings for my lawn tractor fleet because the mower shop wanted $70 a bearing. I'm in the busiest time of the year being an Australian lawn care company and I argued with my mechanic that you can repack sealed bearings while he sooked you should just replace it. Even if it lasts 3 months we won't have machines down and customers sooking.
Yes a lot of the time you can get away with greasing them sealed or not unless they are just too worn. People just don’t want to take the time. Thank you for stopping by.
My mower was shaling excessively when i took my foot off the brake, then out of nowhere, the engine just shuts down now when i take my foot off the brake. could this be a bad idler pulley?
Well if I hadn’t been filming it took me about 10 mins and a little grease to get it fixed. Regardless of greasing or replacing you still need to remove the pulley and spend the time.

That's sweet - lot of work but glad to see it can be done if needed!
New to the channel, absolutely enjoying it. Thanks for posting these videos.
Well you did one side of bearing. Now you need to remove the other seal and do the same. I have done this and it works pretty well.
I use a grease needle to get grease into those bearings using your method of removing the seal and cleaning out all the junk.
I’m right there with you. I usually use a grease needle as well, but wanted to show folks an easy way to do it with basic tools. A grease needle gets in there quickly.
Great tip there Mr Alex I'm going to try this idea
I hope this little tip helps!!
@@freedommowers420 I hope so too
You can get a needle attachment for your grease gun. No need to disassemble the seal. I got mine at O'Reillys.
Any bearing will be full of dirt unless cleaned out.

So true! Take the time to clean it out and do the job right. 🔧👍

I have been doing that same trick for years. It works well. Cheers.

very nice work!
Thank you so much 😎
Nice tip. I do that on deck bearings! I use the red and tacky. Less mess spraying it directly in. Later....
I’ll have to try the red and tacky. I just used what I had on hand. I really appreciate you stopping by.
Great tip Alex. I got one I will try that on for sure congratulations on 500 subs
Thank you as always John. Hope you have success if you try this little tip. Hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend, and greatly appreciate the support.
@@freedommowers420 your very welcome hope your memorial day was good also Alex and thank you for your support as well.
Thanks for sharing this video with us.
Good tip there Alex. Thanks for the video!
Thanks Artie. Tried to make a short and informative tip video to make these bearings last a little longer.
that's a good tip, a lot of the times that will last a long time.
Thank you. I’ve done this trick for a few years, and wanted to pass it along. Hoping to help some folks out.

Thank you Tom! I greatly appreciate the support 🤘🤘
Nice video and tip brother, always a plus to refurbish if possible, congrats on surpassing 500 subs Alex, you da man!!! 👍
Thank you very much John. I’m so blown away that even 5 people want to watch, let alone 500. I’m excited and have a ton of content coming.
You do a great job of it Alex, I had no doubts you’d rise. 👍🏼👍🏼

Thank you very much for the tips and motivation to keep looking for options on fixing instead of replacing.
Definitely thumbs up thank you for the tip and thank you for the video
Use the pick, then carb cleaner or gasiline. Magic...

Can I use my lawn mower still even if the pulley is shot?
The metal outer case you can drill tiny hole and pump grease into it, just turn it as you pump grease
Then silicone hole
Good tip
Thank for you the support and stopping by the channel 😎

Good tip..thanks
Happy to help
I'm always happy to return something to service with plenty of life left than to throw it in the landfill.
Me too. It’s satisfying to bring machines back to life.
Use a needle on grease gun 😊
I picked one up and they work great. Thank you for the suggestion.
i would not say its a hack.
$100 worth of time and $15 dollars worth of materials for a $20 pulley lol
Well if I hadn’t been filming it took me about 10 mins and a little grease to get it fixed. Regardless of greasing or replacing you still need to remove the pulley and spend the time.
Mahalo🤙🏽 my Mower is quiet again. 🫵🏽Da Man👍🏽 🙏🏽
Right on!
