Thanks for updating all the prices on the 1955 Topps set. I own it but a Frankstein graded Collection as I put it together years ago . The Koufax is a BVG 6.5, Mays 6.5 SGC, Aaron 7 SGC, Robinson PSA 5 ,, Clemente 3.5 SGC. all others are PSA 5 except Rizzuto 7. Whatever I love the set and very happy to own it. Thanks for gathering the Stats as I use VCP too.

Nice collection Larry! And if you enjoy your "Frankenstein" set that's all that counts! 😃

thanks for continuing to do this series as they are enjoyable John. As you noted, not surprising that Clemente was number one, and my favorite Hank Aaron was down around five. As I’m doing a Hank Aaron playing days run , I just got the 61 topps, but will be a while before I pick up a copy of the 55 aaron due to price etc. I actually owned a Koufax rookie before but sold raw many years ago, the buyer had to let me know that it came back at six with an MC qualifier, wish I’d hung onto it but oh well…

Thanks James! Glad you are enjoying them. I don't have the 55 Aaron yet as even in a low grade it's more than I've been able to spend. But maybe one will pop up at the National that I could afford??? Congrats on picking up the 61! I'm missing that one as well.

Thanks for sharing & your time & efforts putting another listing together, John. Nice variety of cards in the list. The set has lot of vibrant colors to it, almost like the 54 issue. Agree with you that the Clemente PSA 10 could easily top seven figure range. Koufax PSA 10 could go six figures. Either one is too rich for my budget. Didn't realize Clemente was way up there in value, also.

Thanks Kevin! Yeah, the difference in price between the Koufax and Clemente rookies, especially in the lower grades surprised me. I would think that they would have been relatively close. Guess there's more interest in the Clemente rookie.

So do to contracts with Bowman Mantle isn't in the set this is not right he plays ball plays for a team his card should have been in wax packs.
cards back then had no value , no card shows , no card stores, no supplys . so Bowman had the contracts !!!! whatever
Am I hearing things a very popular player and in the high serise card 189 Rizzuto didn't make the top 10?
same with Gil Hodges 2 above him card 187?
that's funny card 210 end of the high number serise Duke Snider comes in 10th place!!
a little surprise that Killebrew is number 7 it's his rookie and Mantle isn't in the set plus Harmon is a high tier hall of fame I would have thought
4th place ? I understand you have to take in consideration that both Mays and Homerun king are in the set along with Jackie Robinson
I don't know is there a surpriser it's Harmon's rookie .? I guess thats what makes cards different!!!
with Mantle not being in the set how is Homerun king in 5th place I would think third behind Mays surprised ,
maybe the top 3 should have been !! and then 4 through 6?
    3. Killebrew
    2. Koufax
    1. Clemente
    4 Mays
    5. Homerun king
    6. Ted Wiliams

Mantle was in the Bowman set in 1954 and 1955. Back then Bowman and Topps were competing with each other. So they tried to get some of the big players to sign exclusive contracts with them that would prohibit them from being a part of the other company's set. Not all players signed exclusive contracts. But all players I believe back then signed contracts with the two card companies for their image to be used on cards. So when Bowman went out of business after 1955 Topps was able to include Mantle back in their sets.
I understand your thought process regarding the ranking of the cards/players. But in general, Clemente, Koufax, Mays, Aaron, and Ted Williams all have a greater following in the hobby than Killebrew. So even though it's his rookie, I'm not surprised at where his card ranked.
