Talking Heads - ONCE IN A LIFETIME (Official Video)
Arguably their best.
most defiinitely, lol
Agree... Once in a Lifetime and then Psycho Killer
ua-cam.com/video/vmmvtX0IUHU/v-deo.html
Is he ready? I mean the head freaked him out..
Love this song. Check out their song Psycho Killer, if you like this, you will love that song. :)
My favorite. if you haven't seen the video were they dubbed it over the my friend Dahmer trailor, its worth a watch
Love PK.
I second this, but I suggest NOT watching the video that has 121 million views. That's a demo version. I suggest either the classic studio version from the Talking Heads '77 album or a live version, most likely the one from the Stop Making Sense movie.
If yr gunna play Pscho Killer pls play the video from the movie about Ted Bundy.
to get context of the era he should watch www.imdb.com/title/tt1786751/
You HAVE to react to "Once in a Lifetime" by them.
The official video.
You won't be disappointed. Lol
absolutely .. that song was a musical pillar of my youth, love it. Little did I know back then that song was trying to warn me about what the every day working world (and basically everything that comes with it) would have in store for me, but I still love that song.
And not to 'dog pile' on how this whole year has been for us all, but "same as it ever was..same as it ever was..look where my hand was.." really kinda holds true for us lately. Relax, my hand was just under the hand sanitizer dispenser ;)
Once in a lifetime is a banger too!
💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Keep going thru thier songs. Take me to the river is a good one.
@Dania Ann Syl Johnson cover...and a great one.
I 💯 agree! Take Me to the River Live! 🎧😎
And thats an al green song.
I first heard it by Bryan Ferry
David Byrne is delightfully odd! Love their stuff!
Hell yeah bro!!!!!! Finally we have arrived at Talking Heads... prepare for your view counts and comments sections to blow up.. no joke brother lol we been asking for you to react to some Talking Heads.. btw I’m glad to see you’re back
Psycho Killer
Life During Wartime (live)
Girlfriend is Better (live)
This must be the place
Once in a Lifetime
Yes! I also recommended This Must Be The Place. Miles Fisher did a cover too, and Castor Pollux (a friend of mine) did a remix of the cover.
lol Love it! You couldn`t turn on MTV without seeing this!
The BEST REACTIONS ON UA-cam!!! GO 100K AND BEYOND!!!!
Forgive me if someone else has already mentioned this but the guy on the freaky synthesizers is Bernie Worrell, founding member of Funkadelic. He saw Talking Heads' love of funk and helped them develop their sound. A genius who recognized genius.
That collaboration made magic
@@spiderling88 Man, it sure did!
RIP Bernie
Talking heads is one of the greatest bands to come out of the 80's, tons of choices with there music. Try road to nowhere or any of the songs in the comments. Great reaction, I'm so glad you liked the vibe...♡
Hahaha..... I love the talking heads! Yeah once in a lifetime. That beat is still just as bad ass today as back in the day. Keep up the good work man!
Smoking before watching it made it that much more awesome!!
Fortunately I was able to see them and blondie the Ramones and many more, I was 17 living in NYC on the lower east side, this ain't no party this ain't no disco this ain't no fooling around, life during wartime!
Happy Monday bro! Funny story, I remember when this video would come on MTV, I would run upstairs until the video was over because of David Byrne's head (this is when music videos with close up heads were the thing that used to scared the hell out of me like Phil Collins' In The Air Tonight, Billy Idol's Eyes Without A Face and many others).
Love it ! 😂
@Damar Filmore, YES!! I wrote my comment before I saw your comment. Once in a Lifetime have me the creeps too.
@@MomPenita I guess that was the theme of the early MTV videos and the channel's animated idents, creeping us viewers lol!!
You rock 🤘🏽🤘🏽
-🎆💙 Discovered them myself back in 1984. Try their Wild life life next,
Wild Life is awesome!
Dude, you have got to react to songs from their '84 concert movie "Stop Making Sense."..You'll friggin' LOVE it!
Nice.....Talking Heads.....Check out Life during wartime, another great one from this crew. 🎼🎶🎹🎵🎤😎
It is not Halloween yet....but....Thriller - that’s a classic video everyone should see - especially on Halloween.😉
I got one for ya
Adam Ant “Ant Music”
This will bug you out
Tea with lemon and honey is good for your throat. Honey straight from the bottle is good too . A natural antibiotic.
Also, if you are taking anti-biotics, it's good to eat some Yoghurt! It helps keep the GOOD bacteria in ya!
Art school nerds from Rhode Island, and funky as hell. “Life During Wartime” from Stop Making Sense is killer, as is “Once In A Lifetime” (original video). Their catalog is very deep.
I saw them live yeeeears ago..... Once in a Lifetime was the highlight for me when he did that thing with his arm ....same as it ever was LOL
@@TheRealSweetcherryo I saw the Heads in San Francisco at one of the shows they filmed for “Stop Making Sense.” Couldn’t pick a favorite song from that concert if you held a gun to my head, tbh. Definitely in my Top 5 favorite concert experiences ever.
@@OGBobNoxious I am jealous 😃
Hells yes. Good suggestions!
Talking Heads were 4 art students who met in college when they got started- the visuals for them are just as important as the music. Their videos were always visually interesting and made you think-
The imagery reflects the band name "Talking Heads"
Two things crack me up...the exhausted rap when you say click on subscribe button..and never knowing when you're going to shut off the camera. Those are your monikers!
Talking Heads! My day is made! I was so into them back in the day oh my God anything you listen to will be great. David Byrne is everything. Life In Wartime, live, is CRAZY. Just anything.
Tom Jones covered this with a group called the cardigans....as you can imaging it's a lot more deeper and slick lol
LOL!! Love it brother. Talking Heads one of my favourites!! Their songs "Is this the place" and "Girlfriend" I like.
This song was in the movie 'Revenge of the Nerds'
CLASSIC movie!!!!! 👍👍👍
It was also in scene from "The Goonies". But the scene was cut.
This song was in 13 Going On 30. Jennifer Garner.
Handmaid’s Tale
This is what I was looking for!!!!
"Creep me out
With this HEAD
Floating through the street"
They're called Talking Heads 😂😂😂
100K coming soon bro, then a milli.
Right now at 99.9! When I get up in the morning your channel will be 100K. Congrats, ahead of time!
Save all that money. 🔌❤️❤️
Please react to the" motorcycle song" by Arlo Guthrie.
You're tripping me!
Awesome reaction.
😊✌
Talking Heads/Take Me To The River studio version
react to rick james - super freak
The floating head going down the road was doing a lot of lines of coke. That's what we always joked about back in those days.
I had been a fan of The Talking Heads for some time , but I remember hearing this jam for the first time when it came out and watching the video caused me to gain new respect for them. I love this jam because it's constructed so well and hits hard. Glad you covered this one.
Love at the end when Mr. Video says, "This don't make no sense!" A GREAT intro to Talking Heads'
"Stop Making Sense." IT'S BRILLIANT!!! Love this quirky band with their creative videos and funky bass. Musicianship and overall production is amazing on their songs. Please follow the suggestions in the comments and react to more of their music!
Yes! Talking Heads! You need to watch the concert "Stop Making Sense". It's soooooo fun from start to finish. I saw them live many years ago & it was a party 🕺💃🤩🔥
This is their most traditional rock and roll song.
Talking Heads: Letting the Days Go By
Talking Heads: And She Was
Talking Heads: Wild Wild Life
Talking Heads: Life during wartime
"Letting the Days Go By"? Are you referring to "Once in a Lifetime"? Because that's the song's actual title.
You ask, "What is going on?!" And I respond to you, "The 80s, baby."
Wow 100k almost here!
Dude that was quick. Been with you when you were at 5K. How things have changed. Keep it real. Stay SANE!
Live Each Day to the Fullest
PEACE!
David Byrne is an absolute genius. "Psycho Killer", "Don't Worry About the Government", "Sugar on my Tongue", "And She Was", "Girlfriend is Better", "Wild Wild Life", "Once in a Lifetime", "I Wish You Wouldn't Say That"... and on and on...
If Talking Heads are 5, then The Beatles are 6, and if The Beatles are 6, then Pixies are heaven.
@@vraikorrigan Black Francis, also a genius... either way, this monkey's gone to heaven.
Talking Heads is one of my all time favorites from back in the day. Can’t go wrong with any Heads song but I love “Girlfriend Is Better” from the Stop Making Sense film.
Talking heads is one of the most underappreciated bands of all time!
PSYCHO KILLER (LIVE)
One of the greatest bands of the 80s. Stop Making Sense is a classic that everyone should watch at least once.
This is an awful, but funny, story regarding this song. When I was in college, there were two rival fraternities whose houses happened to be right next to each other. Yep....when the one house caught on fire, the other house blasted this song. (No one was injured....the fire was successfully put out.)
Ooh ahh, Alpha Beta, ooh ahh, Alpha Beta.
Lamda Lamda Lamda and Omega Mu.
That’s my Pi!
OMG!!!! 😮
That's hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My first time at the club after my house had burnt down....they played this song. My girlfriend swore that she hadn't requested it. Either she was a liar liar or it was just a freaky thing. It wasn't something that they normally played. LOL I still think that she lied to me. LMAO!!
wow!!!!
Talking Heads drummer Chris Frantz and bass player Tina Weymouth, married since 1977, are big fans of funk. When they went to a P-Funk show at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the crowd started chanting, "Burn down the house, burn down the house" (this is before "The Roof Is on Fire"), which gave Frantz the idea for the title. As he explained in a 1984 interview with National Public Radio (NPR), he and Weymouth created the original track in a jam, then took it to the band where they refined the groove. To form the lyrics, they picked words that fit the rhythms, which is why the words don't make a lot of sense. This is common practice in the world of funk, where you don't want the lyric to get in the way of the groove on a feel-good song.
"I Don't Know What You Expect, Stop Living Through the TV Set"... One of My Favorite Lines... The ENTIRE " Stop Making Sense" is GOLD... I am SO EXCITED YOU LOVED IT... I THOUGHT You Were Ready 😘
I was Worried about You @Mr.Video , I was Actually Sitting Down to Drop You an EMAIL & When I Went to Find Your address, I Saw that You had Posted... And Breathed a Sigh of Relief 🥰 Grateful Your Okay (though You look a lil tired &Sound a bit Hoarse 🙄🤔💕
🎊 ✨ HaPpY Birthday✨🎊(2days ago)
Ceriblium! HAHAHAH!!!!! Yeah...80's music videos didn't always make sense...
This was a good reaction to this music video by Talking Heads. If you get the chance to do so, you will want to react to Talking Heads' music video/concert performance for their song, "Girlfriend Is Better". It has a great dance groove to it.
Want to SEE Him Karate Chops His Forearm? Find and Watch THIS: Talking Heads - ONCE IN A LIFETIME (Official Video)
David Byrne is a genius. They had a lot of world music influence in their sound. I guess nowadays it would be called "cultural appropriation", but I digress.
Good reactions. Try this "LUCKY MAN" by Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Gary Lake wrote this when he was 12 years old. 2012 Remastered version. Get smoked up first!!!!!!
Lucky man made the radio play but " take a pebble" and " Knifes edge " are THE brilliant cuts off the same debut album
Please do this! Lucky Man by ELP.
YES!!! Love that song!!
This song always brings back memories of High school. My School's rival had a fire one year, while it was only the gym that burned, it stayed in that school's minds. At their prom they tried to get this song as their theme, the school board vetoed it. They didn't even listen to the lyrics, the title "Burning down the House" was enough to say nope.
80's music videos and early 90's were a LOT of "art" concepts for the videos. It was another way to showcsse visual artisry.
This song played out of every dorm room at Michigan State. Brings back memories!!!
Tina Weymouth, the finest, sexiest, rockingest female bass player EVER.
LOL Talking Heads. Excellent fun song
Psycho Killer, Life in Wartime, Take me to the River, And She Was, Girlfriend is Better, Flowers, Road to Nowhere, This Must be the Place, Wild Wild Life....Talking Heads were genius.
Talking Heads - Stop making sense - is possibly one of the best things ever to be filmed. Most definitely recommend.
I think this is the most time you’ve ever re-wound a video. I guess Talking Heads does that to you. Plus it’s a banging video.
I had a blast making a reaction of your reaction to Paint It Black!...it is NOW uploaded !!!
Burning down the house is what we used to say back in the day before the phrase, “ the roof! The riff! The roof is on fire!”
The body doubles of each band member... the inner personality coming out to control the body.
This played a lot in the discos in the 70s also Brick House by the commodores.
Half of Talking Heads had a side gig as Tom Tom Club. Their video "Genius Of Love" is a must watch!
David Byrne, the lead singer and group leader has Asperger's.
He does??
@@MeMeVoyageOf yes. I watched an interview with him where he was talking about it. I always thought it was cocaine that made him act like that.
@@tjsogmc Omg. Well, I guess that goes to show that what people labrl as eccentric may actually be a disorder in disguise. Didn't affect his career none. If anything, it just elevated him his coolness!
Self diagnosed asperger's I think he said tho
ooh i know im about to be getting me one of those shirts this friday boiiiii i like that! i was just thinking last week you needed a shirt that sd unfunkingbelievable lol
As far as Heads' live shows go, Stop Making Sense is great, but I also highly recommend Live in Rome, from 1980. My fave performance (probably) of The Great Curve is from that show.
Yup don't worry too much about their freaky promos, the music is so FUNKY. Maybe check out some of their live video next, anything from their concert film 'Stop making sense'. The title is a clue, don't try to dig for some narrative meaning in a lot of their songs, just go with the groove. David Byrne the singer is just out there, so unique, a genius oddball.
“He turnt into a kid” face ftw
God I love my 4th favorite band in history
Know the song, don't remember ever seeing the video. Probably because my older brother had it on tape or LP and Mtv wasn't available yet in the Netherlands. Cool, I like the ballroom scene.. That whole ceiling is one big chandelier. Was thinking of hanging a chandelier in my restroom. Maybe I just need to do the whole ceiling like that.. woahhh..
Its great that you have still only scratched the surface of great music!
Do This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) next!
If you want to see how energetic and out there this band can get, watch anything from their Stop Making Sense tour. Their live shows were something else.
React to Making Flippy Floppy live before Jamel does. Please
If you want weird wait til you react to Devo “Whip It”
I was born in 1974 so when this came out, I was young. My mom loved this group but their videos literally gave me nightmares. Like real life bad dreams. Once in a Lifetime is even creepier to me. He's all sweaty and pounding on his arm. I'll pass on these videos, thank you very much.
Mr Videooooo!!! I lolled at how much this video made u trip!
Not to take away from Talking Heads, as I love ‘em and look forward to your reactions to their tunes, but I thought of a song by another band you should check out. As a fellow smoker, when you get to checking out the band Styx, you have to listen to the 70s tune from them, “Light Up”. 😎
This was such a great band to dance to back in the day! By the time this came out, music was starting to sound more and more electronic with precise mathematical beats. You are a hair's breath away from The B-52's. Another great, quirky, band out around the same time. Have fun with those Talking Heads. Just don't start talking back! After that, you should give The B-52's a whirl!
The who - wont get fooled again live
Right
Check out psycho killer by talking heads
You should check out a side project of most of the members of this band called Tom Tom Club... in particular, the song "Genius of Love". I think you might like it :)
I gotta play that at a party.
Was THIS Your First Time?? WELCOME to The World of The Talking Heads! "Psycho Killer" is Fun too 🤣😘🤣
Yes! Just watched David Byrne’s American Utopia concert last night on HBO and saw the production live last year. The movements of Byrne and the musicians; they were all in constant motion; pure art!!!!
"Life During Wartime" from the Stop Making Sense concert, you'll love it.
Dude's face kinda reminds me of Captain Howdy from The Exorcist.
Amazing band, you're going to love them after a few songs.... Talking Heads - Girlfriend is UNFUNKINGBELIEVABLE...... Good to see you back..... BRILLIANT.......!
David made a fantastic movie called, True Stories.
🔥💃🌹🔥💃🌹🔥
See the Spike Lee movie BAF. Light it don't hide it .
I wasn't a fan of them when they came out, now i appreciate their stuff!! Once in a Lifetime is a banger!!
I've always seen the thing with the face on the road thing as, "white lines going up his nose". If you couldn't tell David Byrne liked cocaine
Special affects before CGI and it was THE SHIT when this came out 🥰🖤
They have a song called psychokiller
David Byrne is a genius. Watch his live "Life During Wartime" from the Stop Making Sense tour.
If you want to be weirded out, please do "Shock The Monkey" by Petee Gabriel, formerly of Genesis.
Music Friend....ya gotta listen to PostModern Jukebox...featuring Haley Reinhart!!!......she does 4 fantastic songs with them....start with Creep...then All About That Bass....Seven Nation Army
