This has been the most entertaining build to be on, documenting it has been a blast. Can’t wait to show you guys more! If you aren’t subscribed, please consider it! Would be appreciated. BANG ON!
KooKie, that’s not a bad idea! Only downside is we cut studs up for bottom and top cripples too.. Over and under windows, sparkies would still have to drill.
Matt, episodes getting better and better. Appreciate you spending the time to 'get in the weeds' on how to frame. So many others just gloss over the details and as we all know, sweating details matter.
@4:29 if anyone is wondering what the heck those 10' PVC risers are for. It's from the plumbers underground pressure test of the buried plumbing. A 10' rise is approximately 5 psi. FYI from the plumber.
Since I was a little boy I've wanted to build my own house and I'm hoping to do so in a few years from now. Your channel is giving me so much knowledge and confidence that I'm gonna make this happen. Cheers, Matt. Can't thank you enough.
Just remember that the foundation and framing is only about 10% of the work. If you need a video to learn how to build a house then you need to hire a general contractor.
I started watching your videos since the last build to this one. I’ve been working as a mason for 4 years but being a framing carpenter has always caught my attention. Anyways love your videos bro, and really appreciate the knowledge you share ! Hopefully I’ll become a farmer myself . Thanks Matt !
I have been watching your videos for a couple of months and it reminds me a lot when I was in California working in construction, you are amazing in your work follow you.
As always you pretty much go step by step what your goals for the day to accomish & from start to finish step by step the framing process. Keep up the good work!!! Looking forward to watching the rest of this build series😎😉
I think I'll watch this series so I'm subscribin".So far,you guys seem to be well organised and knowledgable.Code in Cali is obviously different than code in Tenn but structural integrity is the same anywhere.Lookin' forward to comparing methodology. As a professional carpenter, forced into retirement for health reasons,I still enjoy the trade, even though I'm unable to be onsite as a worker.I'm glad there are young people who are out there enjoying and learning one of the oldest trades on the planet.Sorry you lost one of your guys but it happens, building isn't for everybody..I've always derived a lot of satisfaction in turning a stack of wood into a beautiful home for someone and it seems to be the same for you,so I'm looking forward to watching you build! Be safe and Bang on!
Matt Looks like you guys keep sharp, fresh, saw blades and bits, me I despise having to work with a tool that you really have to Labor with to get the job accomplished, LOVE WATCHING YOU GUYS AND YOUR IN DEPTH EXPLANATIONS OF WHAT YOU ALL ARE DOING, THANKS, KEEP ON BANGIN BUDDY+!!!!
Been trying to decide which brand to switch out all my old tools to. I always just figured it would either be dewalt or Milwaukee. However I just got the mikita corded circular saw and love that thing. May be going with all new mikita tools. ✌
Depends how much you use them. Imo Milwaukee smokes Dewalt. Mikita stuff is solid too. Milwaukee/Makita are better quality and slightly pricier than other brands. I prefer the Milwaukee batteries over the other two. They’ll last a full day of framing.
And another oneeeee 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 You WOODBANGERZ have a safe and fun 4th of July! 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾 Dammit Q! I would have changed my career to be in the shoes your were in while banging wood 😭😭😭
Heck yeah man gotta get more young cats in the trades. I personally love it but I know we're not all cut from the same cloth. Just subbed looking forward to the finished product.
Matt just a thought when you do your layout would it be better to mark window and door opening; also any special walls. I also saw that one of your skill saw with the guard wedge in the open position. Would pop-up canopy be wonderful over the cut station instead of cutting in the hot sun all day.
Many walls start with 16" spacing but the last stud isn't a full 16". Is there a rule that says which end you start from? Like always the left side while facing the wall or always start from the north or east wall?
Which tool bags are you using in this build those dont look like the artisans? If there not the artisans which ones are they and which ones do you like better thanks.
You don't see framers checking studs for straight around here! LOL These Panella folks are the most careful framers I have encountered. FYI from the electrician.
Nice video Matt. If can show a follow up of the house closer to final that would be awesome! If you get a chance you should do a build house alone series like @TheCrazyFramer channel. Nice to see the newer building science practices getting used that @buildshow and others talk about. (Sloped sills)
I'm a little confused on the "rule" for distance to edge and interior on the top plate. Is there a link/source that discusses this a bit more and why it is important?
Hey Matt, I’ve been watching your videos for about a week now as I’m new too the framing/construction world. I’m going in with no experience but my dad used to build houses when I was a kid. My only problem is I’m absolutely terrified of heights, have been since kid. Do you have any advice to get over that fear when it comes time to do roofs or anything with heights?
Why could I never get on a crew like this. My leadman or "Foreman" was always still drunk from the night before. sometimes throwin up in the bushes on site. Would never teach you anything to move forward, or the few times he wanted to throw his wisdom out, it was as clear as mud. All the younger proteges filling in his shoes, to see who's the Alpha druggie male everyday. At break everyone would sneak off solo to do their drugs. Then the owner would show up and start yellin at everyone that we weren't building fast enough. When I went on my own, I battled customers wanting to have jobs done with half the material then beat you up on labor cost's. If I would have been blessed to be on a crew like this, I'd be a millionare by now. Great video Matt, I know it's an old video but congrats on your success man!
Hi Matt,,,, Does the municipality not require Sill Seals between the bottom plate and the concrete ? Just curious as in GA it is mandated.....(EDIT) damn, I guess I should have waited for your explanation.... DOH
Oh no, I said that. Big blades are $120 a piece, or something like that.. Those we’ll try to get resharpened. The 7-1/4, I have a box of 50+ that sit. Never do anything with them.
Ledgers provide a wood nailing surface to nail on your metal joist hangers (U shaped metal supports) in order to frame the deck. The hangers will be nailed onto the wood ledger and the wood joists will sit inside and attach to the hangers providing the needed support. Ledgers are typically used anytime you want to attach wood to concrete. Anytime you attach wood in direct contact with the concrete, it must be pressure treated lumber.
Does anyone know what those “saw horse-like” stands are for his skill saw? I’ve seen a few channels have them now but I can’t even find the name on peoples tool list.
question from a dumb New Zealand builder : can you thru bolt the walls down rather than setting anchors in the concrete ?? It seems like a lot of mucking around with those cast in anchors lining the bottom plates up etc
Unfortunately we can’t. No dumb questions! Only dumb question is the one not asked.. We have hold downs that have to be in place as well, so it’s a must that they’re embedded. Some of the hold downs are 2-3’ down in concrete.
Thanks for the reply haha true , In Nz we use wedge anchors to hold the bottom plates down - just drill a hole thru the timber and into the concrete drive a bolt in and tighten, I guess that’s not as strong as the way u guys do it though - keep up the good work and the awesome videos. Cheers
Yooo mattt! What is up dude been watching for some time now and could say really dig your work and content. Quick question tho, did you buy that deep orange socket or made it? For the AB’s I had one made for me it’s not to bad but if I could buy one made even better.

Great to see Fox back and not smoking!
What's wrong with smoking🚬

BANG ON!
What is your take on pre drilling electrical holes in studs? Thx
Hey what's up bro....i do the same thing on Texas 💪🏻😎 I'm learning a lot watching ur videos
come to the UK and do my house will take you 3 days LOL
KooKie Camo they should sell studs predrilled for wires I might be on to something
KooKie, that’s not a bad idea! Only downside is we cut studs up for bottom and top cripples too.. Over and under windows, sparkies would still have to drill.
fox is one of those guys that are always a good time to be around. glad he stopped smoking and is hanging in there
The quality of these uploads is insane. Man you need a TV show at this point.
I’m so freakin’ stoked to hear this.. I’ve changed my whole game and started putting in the hours. All to put out quality stuff!
Nice, the plumbing appears to be pretty extensive based on the number of penetrations in the slab. I imagine it's taken a lot of work so far.
Since I was a little boy I've wanted to build my own house and I'm hoping to do so in a few years from now. Your channel is giving me so much knowledge and confidence that I'm gonna make this happen. Cheers, Matt. Can't thank you enough.
Couldn’t agree more! I’m actually wanting to join a local contractor but this Pandemic put a lot of things on hold 😩
@@JustinColburn Only if you let it....."A good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow". Make it happen today.

Anxious to see how that deck comes together. Pretty cool.
Perfect way to spend my half day at work, watching you guys work 😉
another good one matt keep them coming
Thank you Matt for doing this! I really want to do some carpentry myself but for now i watch you guys do the work and learn some of it ;)
Matt Looks like you guys keep sharp, fresh, saw blades and bits, me I despise having to work with a tool that you really have to Labor with to get the job accomplished, LOVE WATCHING YOU GUYS AND YOUR IN DEPTH EXPLANATIONS OF WHAT YOU ALL ARE DOING, THANKS, KEEP ON BANGIN BUDDY+!!!!
You inspired me to become a carpenter thanks to you I gain alot of knowledge and I built two garages
Something about the way an NR83A sounds, makes me feel good.
Fun frame Matt! At least you've got some trees this time to shade yourself for lunch. :)
Things are starting to make sense
What miter saw stand are you using with the stop block gauge?
Absolutely love the vids man! Keep it up!!
Do you need to switch to galvanized gun nails when going through the treated mud sill?
Fun to watch and interesting too. Thank you.
I’m glad you answered the question about the seal gasket that was bothering me
Sill Gasket*
sill*
Yo Matt we love raw videos keep them going !!
what miter saw stand were you using?
What did you use to attach the PT ledger in tothe concrete. Strat rods? Expandable bolt?
Been trying to decide which brand to switch out all my old tools to. I always just figured it would either be dewalt or Milwaukee. However I just got the mikita corded circular saw and love that thing. May be going with all new mikita tools. ✌

Where in Oregon do you plan to move? We do custom homes in Corvallis/Albany area. Always looking for a solid framing crew!
Do you use galvanized nails for all of wall framing or brites?
Do you use galvanized nails on the pt bottom plate
Would you recommend the denali tool belt over the artisan?
Matt just a thought when you do your layout would it be better to mark window and door opening; also any special walls. I also saw that one of your skill saw with the guard wedge in the open position. Would pop-up canopy be wonderful over the cut station instead of cutting in the hot sun all day.
18:52 trying to figure out what u meant by that.... bottom crips have a 5 degree...
Badass. I learn so much from your videos. Are you guys seeing issues with lumber availability ?
Many walls start with 16" spacing but the last stud isn't a full 16". Is there a rule that says which end you start from? Like always the left side while facing the wall or always start from the north or east wall?
Which tool bags are you using in this build those dont look like the artisans? If there not the artisans which ones are they and which ones do you like better thanks.
Larry Haun would be proud.
Great video bro thank you!
Quick tip, if you stack multiple boards on that miter you can increase productivity. May have to increase your height on the stop though.
Unfortunately that stop doesn’t have a higher option, or I’d totally do it! It would speed things up tremendously.
Good job so far..
Please don’t leave the sight with one of the forks in thé air.
When having a rutine there can be made mistakes.
Awesome work guys.
good job i like it yes
Great work your doing, cheers
What chop saw stands are those??
You don't see framers checking studs for straight around here! LOL
These Panella folks are the most careful framers I have encountered. FYI from the electrician.
Havent watched the whole video yet, but I will. I Just have a question, are you gonna do tutorial videos???
How to’s ?? Maybe.
Bang on!!
100%, coming soon!
MattBangsWood can’t wait!!
You guys rock!!!🤘🏻

what happened to the cordless skilsaw review?
Which types of wood are you using?
And why are you not using screws?
Love it btw👍🏼
Love your show!!
Who makes that chop saw stand?
thank you matt
Its starting to look good
Do you normally change blades on all new jobs or just when you need to replace it?
Just when it needs it. Neither of those saws had been changed in months, we've built the 6 or 7 projects since the last change.
MattBangsWood gotcha, thanks.
Whats the ridge for anyway, why instaling wood planks?
Realy enjoy your vids, 😃
Do you guys use sill seal there?
No, honestly never seen it in my life.. Until this project. It’ll be used here.
This is great! I will definitely subscribe to your channel

How much does a carpenter make a hour doing jobs like these? I love watching this work man, I been hooked. Might change careers
What is the width of inerior and exterior wall plz tell me
Matt i may have missed it if you said it, but do you send your saw blades out to be resharpened or is it cheaper for you to just replace them

no sill seal below the PT sills???? thanks and more stabila
Can you do a video of production vs custom home framing?
link for the harness tool belt please!?
Fox reminded me of Tommy lee from motley crew!
did you go to trade school?? if so what classes, courses did take and what trade did you learn?
You guys ever done any double wall recording studio builds?
Recording studio, no. Double wall, many times! That and some Rockwool insulation... You’ll never hear a thing!
How you liking that Makita Cordless Worm Drive?
Does anyone know what those “saw horse-like” stands are for his skill saw? I’ve seen a few channels have them now but I can’t even find the name on peoples tool list.
Cut Hub
About time you give us a tour of your own home!:D
I’m a youngster, I don’t have a high dollar home. 😊 Were moving to Oregon in the near future to build our dream home.. It’ll all get shown then! 😄

I bet your dad is a beast 💪😂 your lucky he had you when he was young by the time I started working my dad couldn't .
Hi Matt. Will watch this build intensely. Sad "Q" wont be back. Probably gone fishing. Enjoy the day. Ray L
Did you get a Makita sponsorship? New saw, new impact, new leaf blower 👀👀👀😂
I have 0 tool sponsorships as of now. 😉
That’s Fox’s blower, I swear if he didn’t gain a few lbs... He’d probably blow away with it!
Matt where did you get that eat sleep frame repeat hoodie
Is that a 19oz cali framer on your belt?
Most definitely is!
Awesome!, they are starting to sell them in NZ, straight off the shelf at our biggest merchant now, I have brought one
do you bevel your sill plates
We don’t. We run through with a planer at the end and plane out.
Yooo mattt! What is up dude been watching for some time now and could say really dig your work and content. Quick question tho, did you buy that deep orange socket or made it? For the AB’s I had one made for me it’s not to bad but if I could buy one made even better.
It’s called “DudeBuster” and they’re ancient! We got them like, 10 years back. Haven’t seen them in stores yet.
Nice! So is it a company or some guy that made them in your area for local contractors?
Great content!
Diablo need to sponsor you haha
nice build so far. just curious, no masks for virus? keep up good work.
