The dialog sample is from the camping trip in the movie "Stand by Me". Watched it again after many listens and couldn't pick it out. The kid in the foreground is the late River Phoenix. A moving piece of music indeed!
This song/album got me through college. I'd listen to this in the early morning walking up to campus, enjoying the cold air and the many, many steps up "old main hill." I have extreme anxiety and BSBD's music offered a centering experience. This album is really special.
No i think about it to....this song makes me think of walking downtown holding back tears in the warm summer breeze cuz i miss the people i have lost for good....but the sky is blue as i look up and i go on because i know i will see them again someday
Why is it necessary to say that this Day 9 person brought you here? You don't see me putting my friend who showed me BSBD's first name on every video... I mean, it's fine at first. But every other comment? Come on guys. YOU are the reason that you listen to this wonderful music.
@heedles not sure what part of the song you mean, but the 4 chords used are the famous punk chords ( wikipedia "Pop-punk_chord_progression") also made famous by The Axis of Awesome (check their video "4 chords")
Day9 is a StarCraft 2 (video game) shoutcaster (like a broadcaster for pro gaming) and eSports promoter. BSBD has given Day9 rights to play their music during the "Day9 Daily", which is an online strategy and entertainment show he does on a near daily basis. When his show goes on break he plays BSBD and the peoples love it.
I thought day 9 was a movie not some nerdy gamer lol oh well as long people are discovering the great music produced by BSBD one way or another I ain't got a problem with it.
I was actually referring to about 2:38 in the song (and other points), sounds like a song called In Memoriam from Les choristes. But thanks, led to some laughs!
Until I watched the movie Lean On Me by Stephen King I never understood this song, the part where you hear the boys talking about Winston Cigerttes is from the movie. I think if they remade that movie this song should be in it! BEAUTIFUL MUSIC...
I now have all 3 of their releases. I love BSBD but this remains, to me, their most epic track. BTW, Does anyone know where the bluesy guitar sample is from? It sounds like Roy Buchanan or Stevie Ray Vaughn. And how the F*** can 9 people dislike this?-the mind boggles at the ignorance of the masses.
I don't know if you are still in search of the guitar sample seeing how this comment is 9 month old haha but if you are, the sample is from "Funkadelic - Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts" /watch?v=viyPjsXS7h4 Enjoy. :)
@thadgordon36 I'd care if he were leading this many new fans to my favorite band. . . Unless you're one of those "I liked them before they were popular" types...
This song makes me crazy emotional no matter what mind state I'm in, every time. I don't even know what kind of emotion... I'm thinking like the kind where you're crying at the first sight of your newborn baby or something. Never experienced that, but bet this song will play in my head if I ever do. Jeez.
5 years late but here ya go - As a father, nothing will ever come close to the feeling of seeing my son for the first time. The first cry is relief beyond relief. The first smile is happiness beyond happiness. The first laugh is the quintessence of joy. This being said - this song encapsulates all of those feelings, quite well. Though it doesn’t come close to the actual gravity of those first feelings - it is definitely in the same ballpark. This song (and most of BSBD songs) make me cry in a similar way to when I first became a father. Who knows, maybe after 5 years you have started the journey yourself - that would be pretty incredible right? Either way, thanks for commenting. It made me relive all of those feelings during a difficult time. It’s 2021 now. Most of us just lived through the craziest year of our lives, and this year doesn’t seem to be much better. But, with music like this, my son, and people like you - I know I can get through it. I wish you serenity during these crazy times. ❤️
I died. . no I must have been dead already and come back to life. I didn't know this could wake up parts of me that were long dead in the cold grasp of winter. for a few minutes I am alive I feel alive.
Day9 is a man who casts Starcraft 2 live every day, he is a very well known caster in the SC2 scene and a great man, go check him out sometime. He has mentioned Blue Sky Black Death a few times on his livestream and speaks favorably of them, and also directs people to listen to there music and by there albums.
@leargle3 I didn't but they've used funkadelic before- "maggot brains" in one of their songs from late night cinema, I think it was all the news is bad again
I don´t believe what I´m hearing... is this the best song I´ve heard? I would say so...

So is the picture! :)

One of the best sounding and most complex songs I've ever had the pleasure of hearing
+Zelinc I agree that it sounds great, but it doesn't seem like you've heard extremely complex music before
Repeat like 20 times - still my jam!! This song is a 6 minute eargasm!
I come back here every year to complain about how criminally underrated this song, album and artists are. Cry with me please...
No i think about it to....this song makes me think of walking downtown holding back tears in the warm summer breeze cuz i miss the people i have lost for good....but the sky is blue as i look up and i go on because i know i will see them again someday
This is gold

Am i the only one who starts to think about the world and other people when i listen to music like this?

Butter nuts!
Part from @4:38 is purer than the purest gold.
@gobf2f totally agree. best band I've ever found next to left field

starcraft and its wonderful community brought me here. glgl fellow brotoss
What are the lyrics in this song?
While they are *totally* copping the 90s "Deep Forest" and "Enigma" vibe, I love this.
luv it!
You're missing out on far more than you know...
And on the [Ninth] Day...
I now have all 3 of their releases. I love BSBD but this remains, to me, their most epic track. BTW, Does anyone know where the bluesy guitar sample is from? Remember hearing this song for the first time and I had tears, so beautiful. Still as beautiful today.

Just became a father five days ago, I'm playing my little guy BSBD and Nujabes songs on the daily.
Amazing song when you're high.
Trap Nation Wow your favourite pl is nice!
Felt like that dissed the integrity of the song. Don't think you have to be high to enjoy a work of art like this.
Even more amazing song when you are sober
I will second that
VOL all the way UPP
"I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
I died. . no I must have been dead already and come back to life. I didn't know this could wake up parts of me that were long dead in the cold grasp of winter. for a few minutes I am alive I feel alive.
This is also the best song I've ever heard
Possibly the best song I've ever heard
Seven years later and still one of the best electro tracks ever

Day[9]
Shhhh
No can do kid
@trixter21992251 It's amazing how pleasing the human brain finds these chords :) Does 'Where The Sun Beats' use the same progression?
This is like a safari adventure for my ears.
i can't describe how this makes me feel. it makes me eyes water every time
wow. just fucking wow.
Strictly Hip-Hop/Rap fan...until now. This is fucking crack!
Am I the only person who has no idea who Day9 is, and doesn't care?
anyone who says there is no good music today don't know where to look.

There ain't nothin' to it, DAY [9] MADE ME DO IT!!!

from 3:29-3:52 i have no words to describe, i just feel it in my heart and my soul, strange.
I really love the movie Stand by me.
when the vocals hit.
I have to slow down for a bit -
close my eyes and go with the journey's
music
This song takes me to a different place. I love what this genre of music can do to your mind and uplift your spirit
dope stuff, if ya like this check out Stray Ghost too.. he is a dope musician. x
That kid on the left of the cover on "Sleeping Children" looks like Corey Feldman from goonies and Lost boys
It is. Its from the movie stand by me
@@Odd1outtt damn you active still
aaaaand i bought the album :)
He's playing this song right now, waiting for the Day Off to start :P
Just fantastic
@leargle3 I didn't but they've used funkadelic before- "maggot brains" in one of their songs from late night cinema, I think it was all the news is bad again
It is Corey Feldman. That's a picture of Stand By Me, and left to right it's Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell, Wil Wheaton and the late River Phoenix.
For anyone who wants the lyrics at the end, it's taken from Horizons by Eloy:
Sunbeams dancing in your mind
Blue larks embracing sunlight
even if that was true, why would it be a bad thing.
Yeah. who the hell is that?. or what is it? lol thats what i was trying to figure out.. i just have to thank Last FM.
This is almost Pink Floyd level.
wow.
but i wonder what does it mean in german , the artists name .
very interresting unlike sounds
Wow. Guitar from "good thoughts, bad thoughts" by Funkadelic in the background. Anyone else notice??
i think of wedding proposals. no idea why..
Am I the only one hearing music from Les choristes in the background? Am I going crazy?
this beat is mixed on 2pac - 183rd n Walton look it up - CLASSIC
Day[9] is a famous Starcraft 2 caster, and he frequently plays BSBD on his live stream.
@thadgordon36 If you didn't care, you wouldn't have asked that question.
what's the sample of the kids at the end talking? Beautiful song, so vulnerable
whAt's so special about this music? it's just music.. don't get it..
BeatBox Radio Show led me in the right direction. Fuck is Day9?
