Thanks a lot! Ive been enjoying this bass a lot with other styles of music too. The character is a pbass with steroids though. I tend to grab other instruments for more mellow tones.
I found this vid while searching for reviews of that AP-5. As a fellow lefty our options at that price point are super limited. I have a Schecter Hellraiser 5 that I have setup for downtuning for metal, but I've been looking for a good 5 string P for standard tuning and have boiled it down to the AP-5 and the Schecter P5. Hearing this vid is definitely tipping the scales for me, and I figure the J pickup makes the AP-5 more versatile. Great tone and playing!
@@longdongbongchong I actually did, but what was supposed to be a new bass was actually obviously used, and a bit of a lemon. There was trouble with the bridge and the pickups were stuck in place. I probably could have fixed the issues myself, but I should not have had to. I ended up returning it. I then found the Jericho Alpha 5 (blacker), and decided to get that one, though it seems I got one of the last ones as Jericho no longer makes basses. As much as it looks cool and plays well, I found the electronics on the Jericho just ok. I'm gonna put some SD Quarter Pounders in it soon. I do wish I could have had a better experience with the AP-5.
@@frank68x Retailers try that shit all the time. Sorry that happened to you, it really is a good instrument. I got a used AP5 that's clean and an AP4 on the way. I hope I have the same luck as before.
Get it bro. Serious bang for the buck. Babicz bridge, Emg Electronics and grover tuners leave nothing to upgrade. Dont get me wrong, I love my nice Warwick too but this is a serious workhorse.
@@bassosimo Well, if money sits loose i defently consider it. My 2019 Ibanez Afirma 4 String has to do it till then. Love it but damn i want a 5 String badly
Hi there, great bass demo man! Great song and great tone all around. Quick question about the ESP AP-5; how does the neck feel compared to your Warwick/Fender? ESP says the AP necks are 'Comfortable Thin D Shape', would you say it is much thinner than either the Fender or the Warwick? Thanks a bunch!
Hi there! Thanks! Well. They are all different. Ltd has very fast feeling neck to me. Fastest of the bunch. I actually enjoy it a lot. It has a nice satin feeling too. Warwick thumb neck has more D shape to me. My 79 pbass feels like a baseball bat 😄.
Hi! Thank you for the compliment. Its bass straight DI into my usb interface and daw. Sound is made of 2 channels. Channel 1 is basic grit/clean sound from logic amp designer. Channel 2 is distortion either splitted from darkglass vintage deluxe or tse audio bdo sansamp plugin. Hope that helps!
@@BasEirik Yes, I think so. Alder body and maple neck pretty traditional but ebony fretboard snappy. You could also go for passive pickups if preferred.
Those EMGs are like, "HI EVERYONE I'M HERE AND YOU'LL HEAR ME"
😄
You are right, massive tone!
yeah this is hands down the best bass tone I've heard
Yo thanks!
The tone is amazing
Thanks!
how did you blend the pickups on this bass for this song..? tone is rad and i have this bass shout-out lefty
Really like the vid. I've been thinking about getting one of those basses, and would like to see a variety of songs played with it.

Did you ever get one? I have one and it's killer. The neck feels amazing. High end parts and craftsmanship. Never selling it.
@@longdongbongchong In the end, no.
I feel like I can't justify getting one until I sell one of my basses. (I already have 4)
@@Thrashochist LOL. I have 8! I want to sell half but honestly, I can't decide which ones.

what tone / blend knob settings did you use for this bass / song ?

Nice!! Do you just have the tone wide open this one? Sounds great.
Thanks! Yeah tone full. Both pickups I think.

@@bassosimo ha, I know that dark glass would be involved. Got to save up some money.. they are quite expensive pedals ;)
@@Nacaer Yeah a bit pricey but sometimes you can find them used cheap. I bought mine as a shop demo unit.
Wowwwwww, can you do "The Shape"?
Yeah propably at some point! Cool song.
Nice
Great job! Rock on!
Thanks! 🤘🏻
Great play and nice bass. I’m thinking of getting an AP5. How do they handle drop A?
Thanks a lot! They sure are nice basses. Drop A with a .130 is no problem.
Así se toca esa canción en el bajo. Excelente men
Gracias!
Cool tone, dude. I also own an AP-5 lefthand, amazing bass. What strings do you use? Factory D'Addario EXL?
Hi! Usually I use Ernie Balls.
So über heavy... What is this, drop A? Drop ∞? Sounds awesome anyhow!

Does this bass works without the 9v battery?
I have no idea. 🤔 Never tried it.
