Wow, what was an awesome fish landed today Kevin, looked awesome and a real beauty for sure brother, enjoyed the trip with you, thumbs up and greetings from Down under,, Tony.
Hey my friend! I really enjoyed your trout video yesterday... You guys caught some beauties! Thanks for stopping by and watching me catch these weird warm water fish... I'd rather be catching trout like you, but I'll take what I can get!! Have a great week, Tony! 🙂✌️🎣
Eduardo! Hope you are doing well, my friend. I was just looking at the blue dragonfly you tied me a year or two ago. I'm going to give it a go on the water again soon when the grass carp start feeding on top consistently again. I hope you are doing well, my friend! 🙂✌️🎣
Hey Kev! Late watch on your video! That first carp on the nymph was a wicked fight! Such a huge fish!! Sorry your camera cut off dude! It's awesome to see lots of schools of carp in there! Luckily the 2nd one was committed to hitting your fly after the rest were spooked! The weather looks awesome down there friend! It's getting cold up here in Canada! Have a great week buddy! Take care! 🤜🤛🎣😎
Hey Brody, thanks for tuning in my friend. Our temps just dropped into the daily 70s... fall weather in the desert is FINALLY here!! Man, that was a BEAST of a common carp; such a blast! Hope your fall run for stripers is going awesomely! Looking forward to your next vid. Tight lines, my friend. 🙂✌️🎣
Nice catch and land on that carp. I would recommend to take a look at the oros indicators as they make less of an impact and don't leave kinks in your line. I am almost done editing some of trip to silver creek. One of the fish pushing that 35 inches at 15lbs.
Hey! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I always appreciate your support when my new vids come out! I also appreciate the tip on the Oros indicators... I'll definitely check em out! Can't wait to see that Silver Creek footage! 🙂🙂✌️🎣
I could definitely see that helping. But the heaviest line I can get away with (usually) without spooking the fish is 10 lb test. So, it's not wanting to break the line that generally causes me to play them the way I do. Do you think the longer handled rod would still be worth it considering the restraints of 10 lb test with these fish?
The first fish was a common carp, which have longer dorsal fins (it's dorsal fin was laid down when I was holding it, but if you look at 6:13, you see it flared out more); commons are also more orange in color, and have mouths that angle down (with barbels). The second fish was a grass carp, which have much shorter dorsal fins, are tan/light gold in color, have mouths that point more straight ahead (compared to commons), and do not have barbels. 🙂✌️🎣
What is everyone's guess on the weight of the first fish (common carp)?! I wish I had brought a scale... it was heavy!!
I'm going to say 14.5 lbs. Inches wise I'm guessing 25.5 inches!
@AmbitiousAnglerFishing Yeah, I'm guessing 13-15 lbs too. Whatever the weight... it was a Beast on the fly rod! 🤙✌️🎣
What a fun watch on that BIG common carp! Nice tree lined canal section, common carp hang out. 😊
Yeah, that was a sweet spot to catch a big ol carp! Thanks for watching!! 🙂🙂✌️🎣

😂😂 yeah, that was a pretty solid fish!! Thanks for watching and continuing to support the channel! 🙂✌️🎣
Man that common had a huge tail! Sweet catch!
Thanks man! Yeah, that was a pretty clean and cool looking common! 🙂✌️🎣
That was a massive carp!

13.5 lbs is my guess! That was a solid fish! The bobber drop (indicator) on that grass carp was awesome!
Yeah, I'm thinking 12-14... When I picked it up, it was heavy! Definitely a good sized carp for the fly rod! Bobber drops are always fun!! 🙂✌️🎣
Dang that thing was a tank!
Yeah it was!! 🤙🤙✌️🎣

Need a fly rod with a longer handle for leverage and an easier time.
I could definitely see that helping. But the heaviest line I can get away with (usually) without spooking the fish is 10 lb test. So, it's not wanting to break the line that generally causes me to play them the way I do. Both carp looked to have the shorter Doral fin. Wouldn't that make them both common carp?
The first fish was a common carp, which have longer dorsal fins (it's dorsal fin was laid down when I was holding it, but if you look at 6:13, you see it flared out more); commons are also more orange in color, and have mouths that angle down (with barbels). @KevinRapkochFishing Gotcha ya.
