Indiglo came out in 1992, the Expedition series was introduced sometime around 1997. I think you simply misinterpreted the code you saw

Awesome, what watch can be repaired with a tiny piece of paper? Digital (non smart) watches are really in my opinion THE essence of a wrist watch. They keep running and running for years and decades, they require next to no service or maintenance, other than a new batt after years and maybe a new strap now and then. They do what they are supposed to do, they almost never break down, they don't have any moving parts, gears and hands and can therefore absorb physical stress much better than any other kind of watch. Best of all, they are cheap, don't break the bank and always are a reliable companion. Excellent video and tutorial thanks for sharing. One advise: the battery hatch is much easier to open with a sewing needle. I used to open them with tiny screwdrivers as well until the day a friend showed me the "needle trick". Ever since then I have one in my watch repair/maintenance kit.

I don't know where you got the date-code from, but it's definitely not a 1985 watch. The Expedition brand wasn't introduced until the late 90s. The following isn't indicative of when that style was released, but you can still buy that watch at Walmart today.

agreed, mine is 2006, same, but black. love it, recently polished the acrylic with toothpaste & changed the battery. I also want to buy a silver one for collection at $13, these are so nice with day-glo green screen

That's right, this watch has an indiglo function and was therefore issued later than 1992.
