  • The jazz drummer Lars Skoglund (La La Lars) released his latest single "Häxa" as sheet music and then let other musicians make their own versions. Here's mine - done on a Texas Instruments TI-82 calculator from 1993.
The calculator doesn't have a sound chip, instead it is using delicate bit flipping on the communications port to make audio, using the tracker "HoustonTracker 2". I've made a previous video about how that works, which includes my cover of the C64 song "Warhawk": • Warhawk [C64] music on...

The tune is perfect also. This 1bit flavour match perfectly with the characterful melody of the original version. Checked La La Lars and liked it very much. Thank you :).

Yes, the original is great - and many other artists have made their interpretations of it. Really nice!

    Wow, amazing!!
Can I install any tracker on my HP 50g?
Or, what is the best TI calculator to get for using a music tracker with?
    Thanks!

Thanks! I’m no user of the HP calcs but I doubt there is something like HoustonTracker on them :) So I’d suggest you buy a used TI 82/83/84 (most will work) for a cheap price. The build quality of the 84 is much better but the old 82’s are more retro I think :) The sound is more or less identical, with some exceptions. It can be a hazzle to get a TI cable for the 82/83 whereas the 84 can use a standard USB.
If you havent already, check out my other video showing how these things work - just search for ”warhawk ti-82” and it should pop up!

I used a TI Silverlink USB cable, but now did some searching and found this one which might work if you have an Arduino: github.com/jw0k/serial2ti83
