02:21 Ok this is literally the most sweet Prince Charming thing ever said ever I cant. Somebody get this man a very soft teddy bear and fifty pounds of his favorite candy please
@@tangally I watched a show called "On Pointe" about reality show about a ballet company in Colorado and the female dancers all said that actually do eat whatever they want because they burn more than 5thou calories a day.
I was lucky enough to see these two at the cinema. Steven McRae came across as such a considerate partner. As a dancer he's an understated gem by the press. I was incredibly impressed by his control, power, lines, balon, and acting. Great partnering too. Sarah was light, beautiful and so much control. Great partnership to watch. Hope their cast together again.
I love watching all of these Royal ballet videos , to study the ballerinas techniques, I'm 11, and I've been doing ballet for 8 years and my teacher says I'm nearly ready to go on pointe!!!
( 4:16 - 4:48 ) “I think all that time in rehearsal, you can work and work and work and work. And then on stage you just have to remember, that what happens is what’s happening in the moment. So if you’re not enjoying it in some way, and if you’re not showing the lightness and the beauty, and what ballet is really about. Which is not just technique, technique, technique, but someone conveying a story through movement; then you know, then there’s, there’s no point. You have to remember that, and that’s really all that matters ultimately.” ~Sarah Lamb
nope too long of a quote. id shorten to "[it about] conveying a story through movement, [if not] then there's no point. That's really all that matters ultimately." ~Sarah Lamb
Beautiful, this is why I love ballet, it shows even the masters struggle, ballet is something you always learn and progress with, challenging and freeing all at the same time 😊
2:15 That's how you know he was casted perfectly for that role. In ballet, the man is supposed to lead and guide and be that pillar for the ballerina to lean on. He's acknowledges that super well and you can see it in the dance. It's not about overpowering her or controlling her, but to be present for her.
That was lovely. I was proud that an American woman could make her way to principal at the Royal Ballet. I've seen Steven McRae on several videos and he has such an amazing presence. It's a warm day in California and I found this video soothing.
It’s astounding the difference, watching these videos, seeing up close just how difficult each move is, then watching the dancers on stage from a distance and they make every move look effortless. Ballet is such a beautiful art form. Beautiful yet so hard. (I’ve never danced)
I've never danced , I can't dance and never will but still ballet entrusted me and I believe is extremely underrated through its athleticism and that people honk it's easy but I don't believe that I think it would be an extremely difficult sport/ art form I take my hat off to all the dancers you guys are great
Praise also to the work of repetiteur, Alexander Agadzhanov or "Sasha", whose calm patience has been an inspiration to so many dancers in the last 30 years in London.
I didn’t understand how difficult of a ballet sleeping beauty is (though I was blown away by the performance) and I feel so lucky to have gotten to watch the sleeping beauty now. It was absolutely gorgeous and made me fall in love with ballet. Truly an art. It makes you appreciate the beauty of humans
This is fascinating. It is really interesting to understand the thinking and preparation behind what takes place on stage, and it causes me to reflect on how ballet is far more than just pretty entertainment, but a metaphor and inspiration for life, accomplishing finesse through very considerable difficulty, dedication, sacrifice, with all of the accompanying rewards as well. Bravo!
I love how the editor's decided to seamlessly transition between the live performance orchestral music and the virtuosic piano playing during the rehearsal :)
02:20 My God bless his soul. Steven is such a gentleman, fml. True Prince Charming, he so sweet I literally melted the second he opened his mouth 😍😍😍😍😢😢😢
This clip reminds me of my first time watching the 4 princes scene. It was a much smaller company, and that Aurora was shaking A LOT when she was held by the princes. I didn’t know ballet that much back then but watching her entire body shaking like that, I knew immediately this part must be super hard for the dancer. I didn’t realize dancers could hold still In this scene until I saw ABT’s production. Well I know I am watching The Royal Ballet here, I guess all I want to say is there is a big difference between elite companies and not-so -well-known companies! I believe that shaking Aurora must have worked super hard to become the principle of that small company, it just proves how difficult ballet is!
it's so wild to me that the prince also did the mad hatter's role as well. the magic of acting, make up, costumes, and different styles of dancing lmao
I've been dancing since 2015 and i used to do cheerleading when I was in middle and early high school so im pretty flexible. my dance teachers say I am a natural and its incredible considering how late i started ballet that I'm on pointe now. I wouldn't have been able to do any of this without my incredible dance teachers making me work so hard

Tendai Njovu Hi! Kathryn Morgan has some excellent beginner classes on youtube- those would be a great place to start if there are no classes near you. I hope you try ballet if you are still interested- it's never too late ☺

Her practice white lace tutu is so beautiful!
The lace is her leotard! The tutu is separate.
If you like the tutu it’s called “practice tutu” it’s 61 dollars and it’s available on capezio.com

Well, unfortunately ballerinas can't eat sweet
hang vy I’m pretty sure they burn enough calories to eat anything they want :p (not really, but I’m sure they can indulge once in a while)
@@tangally I watched a show called "On Pointe" about reality show about a ballet company in Colorado and the female dancers all said that actually do eat whatever they want because they burn more than 5thou calories a day.
I am a dancer and it depends on how much you dance. But we can eat sweets every once in a while
DietBillie typically it’s more about nutrients than calories.
The technical demands affect the ENTIRE cast, not just the two leads! Which is why few companies are brave enough to take it on

Me too
+Noor Bashir I have a cousin who went on pointe at about that age and She was one of the Four Little Swans on stage at age 12. God she's good.

@maseratic boychik Don not fear, we can't all be born intellectual, no need to upset my dear less intellectual human. *sips tea*
@maseratic boychik isn't this a ballerina video, lool i didn't realize it was easy to trigger ppl here. That's actually hilarious.

I love both of these dancers! What artistry
There are few things as beautiful in Art -- as sublime -- as Act 2 of The Sleeping Beauty.
