The apartment Laird is living could be a hotel paradise to seniors, it's perfect at the beach, and Mr Abernathy could live there with other old people, but for free ofc, he would be the caretaker, like a second owner
I'd keep a couple of bathrooms/showers on the ground floor for the swimming pool, and then maybe the kitchen can be turned into Laird office. And maybe also get rid of the communal dining room and extend the shared hang out space ?

I'm freaking loving this series. Mr. Abernathy's addition was perfection. Personally though, holding off on buying this pack until at least some of the bugs are fixed (a rent pack where you don't get paid for rent seems like a pretty obvious one to fix).
I'm doing exactly the same thing. I haven't even updated my game since the end of November, and have been playing offline since then. I truly hope they fix this EP enough to make it playable, and worth purchasing. EA has to earn my money!
THE BUGS ARE AWFUL! I’m not sure if playing with mods enhances the bugs, but everytime I play with more that 2 sims… my sims always cancel their actions, there’s plenty of space for them to cook food on, can’t finish cooking. It’s so frustrating

I'm wondering if the pricing discrepancy is the build price vs the price with renters. In real life buying an empty building is usually cheaper than buying one with tenants since, when buying a building that has tenants, the new landlord will already be generating revenue. I'd be curious to see if the prices change if you removed the tenants.

In order to get max rent without revolt: Wait until it is the grace period is over, go to manage worlds and evict the tenants, go back to the lot and change the rent and then go back to manage worlds and put homeless sims in. If you do that for all apartments, you’ll be raking in a pretty penny weekly.
To avoid burnout you have to "take it easy" so the debuff disappears. You can't schmooze or even work normally. Alternatively you can do creative stuff on your free time but I find it easier to just sacrifice a workday.
I really liked the idea of Laird owning the painted Ladies when James first buildt them. BUT I'll be honest, I'd love to see the Bigwallet Emporium being turned in yet another building. If it's possible it would be cool if the restaurant could be somewhat kept, maybe downsized to make room.. Like that it would be like a link between this playthrough and Addison's
I wonder if the money glitch is coming from the fact the game might be reading rental lots as plots. with several versions of the same lot on it? So you might be paying for the walls, windows, furniture etc of shared areas, as well as the "external walls" of other rental units several times over, or at least by as many times as there are rental lots on the property? Either way, loving this series and I think that you should be able to claim at least some of the lost money back. Otherwise Laird may never quite get enough to buy the hotel? Maybe you could get it back after converting all the apartments to their top rating?

The team needs to watch this video as these bugs are occurring both in build mode and live modes. Also you’re probably the only other person other than myself I’ve seen so excited to unlock the smog vacuum.

If the rent pack ever actually works without excessive laggg... I'll consider purchasing it. I do love the concept of owning real estate especially for excessively wealthy super sims and legacy sims
The lag is not as bad as the online simmers have made it out to be. I play on PS5, and it runs just fine. It make me wonder if it is the MODs or CC some of them have installed.
@@tabytastick i don't have any mods or cc but i have almost all the packs and i just bought a new laptop so hoping that will help make things faster and less lag
Honestly my lag resolved in the patch they did before the new year. I did a repair and purge as well with my saves safely backed up. But clearing the cache and doing a repair after tucking your mods and saves (and tray files if you have custom ones) in a backup location is just good practice. Big builds always lag a little-even when they aren’t rentals, I don’t think that will ever change. But the extreme lag I had when For Rent first launched and the wallpaper bug are both resolved on my end.
@@TheDawnofVanlife It's not resolved for me. Even with my mods disabled, it lags like crazy when I spend more than an hour on a rental build. It literally takes like 5 full seconds to place anything down. My laptop isnt bad and my graphics settings are mostly set to low. It's a shame because I love PLAYING on a rental lot, but the build mode is unbearable.
@@notnormalyet I don’t know what format you are on, but did you clear your cache, backup your saves, and run a repair. Not blaming you (cause it’s a larger general game problem that gets worse with each pack addon) just saying I make it regular practice because even without For Rent this game creates a lot of unnecessary bloat.

My landlord sims collects rent Thursday mornings. Used to be Wednesday mornings but for some reason it moved to Thursday. Might have changed when the sim bought another rental which may explain why your sims didn't get paid the usual day too
I appreciate James having not edited out all the issues/bugs he was having! The 'gameplay' must have been very frustrating and time draining for sure especially in trying to put out content. Perhaps EA/Maxis might treat bugs seriously if content creators are showing just how bad things are. As for Laird hanging around maintaining everything - sounds like the normal inconveniences of renting to me. I recall one place I moved to, I'd been there five days when I got a notification of an inspection the following week. I still had moving boxes - it was an absurd waste of their time and mine. . . particularly as the rental was pretty awful to begin with - lol. (I rented it sight unseen as it was six hours away and rentals were sparse.)
I’d consider the overage on each property as Mr. Abernathy’s cut of the property. Between that and making sure he is taken care of, Laird has done her part for him as her business partner!
Books are published from the mailbox, not your inventory. One time you clicked the mailbox with Abernathy it even said «self publish» 😅 You can change the rent on any apartment at any time, it will just say your rating will go down, but that rarely happens. Sometimes you can get the «tenant revolt» for changing the rent, but that’s no biggie. Oh, and the rent is payed out thursdays now, at least in my game. Thanks for the awesome content, James 😃 been watching every video since the Get Together LP!

James getting around the bugs reminded me of old home remedies and superstitions where you have to do a series of random things like stand in a bucket with a lime in your mouth or whatever.
I think not getting the "extra" money back from the inflated prices is better imho. you can call it sales taxes or something. There are always some sort of hidden cost with buying property afterall. Then again I just find it more fun when you have a bit of struggle - so I am 100% biased xD
You should DEFINITELY get the witches cauldron. You'll be able to make massive batches of food that you can sell in the food stand 😂🎉 I think it's like 12 portions at a time instead of 4 or 8! 🤑🍗

you could turn the rooms down stairs in to a gym, an office for the tenants and public toilets for visitors/people using common areas.
So with the new castle pack that came out, if Laird bought alot of appartments she could own a small castle she can retreat to and relax 😂 like a realll landlord (land Laird? Haha)

My landlord sims collects rent Thursday mornings. Used to be Wednesday mornings but for some reason it moved to Thursday. Might have changed when the sim bought another rental which may explain why your sims didn't get paid the usual day too

I appreciate James having not edited out all the issues/bugs he was having! The 'gameplay' must have been very frustrating and time draining for sure especially in trying to put out content. Perhaps EA/Maxis might treat bugs seriously if content creators are showing just how bad things are.
As for Laird hanging around maintaining everything - sounds like the normal inconveniences of renting to me. I recall one place I moved to, I'd been there five days when I got a notification of an inspection the following week. I still had moving boxes - it was an absurd waste of their time and mine. . . particularly as the rental was pretty awful to begin with - lol. (I rented it sight unseen as it was six hours away and rentals were sparse.)
I'd LOVE an spin off where James plays a bit of young Abernathy's life and his backstory, honestly would be lovely
I’d consider the overage on each property as Mr. Abernathy’s cut of the property. Between that and making sure he is taken care of, Laird has done her part for him as her business partner!

Books are published from the mailbox, not your inventory. One time you clicked the mailbox with Abernathy it even said «self publish» 😅 You can change the rent on any apartment at any time, it will just say your rating will go down, but that rarely happens. Sometimes you can get the «tenant revolt» for changing the rent, but that’s no biggie. Oh, and the rent is payed out thursdays now, at least in my game. Thanks for the awesome content, James 😃 been watching every video since the Get Together LP!

James getting around the bugs reminded me of old home remedies and superstitions where you have to do a series of random things like stand in a bucket with a lime in your mouth or whatever.

I think not getting the "extra" money back from the inflated prices is better imho. you can call it sales taxes or something. There are always some sort of hidden cost with buying property afterall. Then again I just find it more fun when you have a bit of struggle - so I am 100% biased xD

You should DEFINITELY get the witches cauldron. You'll be able to make massive batches of food that you can sell in the food stand 😂🎉 I think it's like 12 portions at a time instead of 4 or 8! 🤑🍗
I have found that just toggling in and out of build mode two or three times eventually brings back the rentals panel properly.
I can’t wait to see more renovations and getting rid of the extra kitchens and bathrooms.
I believe one way to help with the unit rating is becoming friends with the tenants, hope that helps!

i am loving how laird’s rentals are turning out!! definitely turn the shared kitchen into an activities space and use the counters in some of the other rentals
