Rich, I keep coming back to this video, years after you made it. This axe is just so damn articulate! Cuts through the mix with absolute ease! The cleans cannot be beat...peroid! Of ALL the guitars you have sampled in the past few years, this one gets the medal!
Thanks for covering clean tones! So many reviews don't. I realize that this probably isn't the gtr you're buying to dial in sweet jazz tones, but I find clean tone really helps to evaluate an instrument.
Sound s FANTASTIC!!! WOW THE MIDDLE POSITION IS AMAZING. Great playing and reaction, I ve been looking at this exact guitar to add to my collection, I have the EPIPHONE SG Classic Worn Cherry with P 90s, the same one s that are in the one your holding. But the different body shapes will make the. Totally unique and have their own voice. Im glad you liked it .
I bought one of these from woodwind brasswind at the end of july and I'm still waiting. I'm glad you've done a review on it so I can get even more hyped up
Hey Rich, this is Ted (seattwa), with my new screen name. Anyway, I've been looking at this and the Junior. I've played the Junior, very nice tone. But you may have just made up my mind. Your reviews are very trust worthy. And even though you didn't say much in the way of an opinion, good or no, you didn't say that it sucked. And it sounded damn good!
Hi Rich, thank you, excellent work once again. Yep, want one bad, inexpensive P90 snarl and bite is what’s missing from my little collection, but sadly, made of unobtanium here in Australia, I’ll have all pickup bases covered when they eventually land. Thanks again.
Amazing playing and the tone you got is so sweet and aggressive at the same time! I bought one yesterday because of your review, and it's like this a review and demo should be. Hope you're still enjoy to this day
Got mine a month ago. It’s WAY better than a $400 guitar should be. I’d say it’s closer to a $600-$850 guitar in price. It looks great and sings. What else could you ask for?
As much as I love the glassy sparkle and spank of Fender pickups, there's just something magical about the growl of a P90 that makes them alluring. Great playing, by the way. Best demo of an Epiphone LP Special I've heard yet.
I have my first P90 guitar on the way, not Epiphone but Harley Benton....and not their Les Paul Special type either (which seems very nice), but their PRS style with P90 PUs (called the CST 24T P90), with a nice Wilkinson trem bridge. Excited to see how they compare with my other Harleys (this will become my 5th). Thanks for a great review and playing Rich!
That is such a cool guitar. I have wanted the Gibson one, but just a bit outside my price and talent zone. Nice playing. Almost had to down vote for the bare feet though. And you gained a subscriber.
Epiphone is the real deal. I have an Epiphone LP special 2 that I swapped the ceramic pickups with the Alnico ones they put in higher end instruments and it smokes. All told for like 100 bucks on craigslist and an extra 35 bucks for Epiphone alnico pickups and it seriously sounds better than my Gibson.
Rich looks like the guy in the Zombie movies that gets bitten but doesn't tell the rest of the group until it's too late, that been said, excellent review of an excellent guitar!
Great playing and sounds from the Epiphone LP Special, and little post script for the volume knob. I've tried for years to master the technique but finally got a volume pedal. It's a little distracting but I'm getting the hang of it.
Great suggestion on other colors. I thought the exact same thing, not the the TV yellow isn't beautiful and nostalgic, but variety is the spice of life as they say.
Love mine just received 2/9 . Test it out of the box . Pull those nasty strings off , clean & oil fret board . Adjust truss , bridge , pickups . BANG !
...Always enjoy your playing,my Brother,haven't been by in while...my loss!!!...Love all single-coils(true Strat-Cat!...),BUT P-90's are like...A normal single-coil's "Bigger,Older,Meaner" brother!!!...and he's a little "rough" with little-brother's friend's,...if provoked!!!...But ironically,in a GOOD-WAY?!?!...
Loved this. Gained a subscriber. Would this work well for pop punk do you think? I have small hands so feel neck might be tough but I love the finish so much I’m also looking at a boss katana amp to practice and gig with.
Ladys and gentlemans, Rich Bischoff on the guitar ! By the way epiphone new series is wicked ! I've tested new Explorer, Flying V, new Classic, 50s, 60s, new Custom and SG Standard and don't know what to choose ! I was thinking to bay one of Fender Player Stratocaster but this Epiphone made me dizzy : O
Must admit that epi sounds pretty epic. When you get them for review from the shop have they been setup to dome degree or do you do it yourself..... or do you just play it as it comes? My experience when going to a shop is usually quite bad as the guitars , even the high end ones play badly because they go right from the case to the rack and nothing (not even a tune) has been done. Because of this I usually head right to the second hand section where most are pretty good. Thanks for the review and tasteful playing.
Picking mine up tomorrow! I tried a buddies and then i tried to buy it and he said no! So tomorrow is the day!!! I had a MIJ Les Paul and the weight was too much! I'am a stone mason and the last thing you want after work is carrying more weight ... All the best from Canada, EH!
I’m curious how this compares to the Gibson Tribute version you demoed earlier. I’m not a brand snob and don’t care about resale value. Just wondering if there’s a clear difference in quality or playability. Love your demos!!
Here’s a scenario for you, Rich. If it was a standoff between this particular Epiphone and the Fender Modern Player Thinline Tele, which one would you choose?
Great demo...hey Rich, how noisy are those P90s and how would you compare this special with the 339 P90 guitar? You should rename this channel Rich can cook....because you can really play
Your reviews are excellent! Could you help me to decide between epi tv special and epi 50's gold top? I'm a bass player and I want one for recording purposes. I have already a strat hss, Thanks. Unfortunately there isn't a store here to try them.
I tried muse at store for being polar yes brighter but it still held quality, my friend and I liked it. Saw Gibson 50 tv special. Sonically seem the same to Epiphones. On the fence about to scoop one of these up. Throw a super distortion p90 innit
I know this is a couple years old but I have a question. Is this p90 Epiphone better than your Epiphone Les 339 pro with p90s? I'm trying to decide which to buy. Thanks
Better than the Gibson in several ways. What a shame, but a plus for players who care about feel and sound more than brand names. I have 2 of these and one Gibson and I pick up one of the Epis every time before bothering with the over-Pleked Gibson!
Rich I’m constantly staggered by your playing and the sound quality. Great work as always. You seem to have found the inspiration from this guitar that I haven’t been able to. I have one. It’s super well made. Sounds great. But it’s just not working for me 🤷♂️

Epiphone truly upped its game for 2020.
Rich, I keep coming back to this video, years after you made it. This axe is just so damn articulate! Cuts through the mix with absolute ease! The cleans cannot be beat...peroid!
Of ALL the guitars you have sampled in the past few years, this one gets the medal!
Sounds like I need to buy this one. 😁
For the life of me i do not understand how this guy doesnt have at least half a million subs!!
Agreed!
I agree with you about P90's they are sweet ! That Epiphone looks pretty good.
Thanks for covering clean tones! So many reviews don't. I realize that this probably isn't the gtr you're buying to dial in sweet jazz tones, but I find clean tone really helps to evaluate an instrument.
Larry Carlton used a 1957 LP Special on the Stanley Clarke Album Live At The Greek. Listen to it!
@larsfocken3456 o
OH I have!
💯
@larsfocken3456 Actually have heard album! Didn't know what gtr he was playing!
Just got one. Awesome sound. Great build quality. Couldn’t be happier.
Excellent demo. I have had mine since early March and absolutely love it.
Sound s FANTASTIC!!! WOW THE MIDDLE POSITION IS AMAZING. i love the intro-playing so much ! great video , I think I shall order one.
I have these same pickups in my Epi 339, they are very versatile and sound great clean to mean.
I am going to buy one to play my favorites slash, steve clark, tom keifer, and jimmy page tunes...
Great playing ! Your candace is allways nice and smooth!😎
Nice demo, fantastic playing. If these become available any time soon I may just have to get one.
ALWAYS love your Video's....Staight ass playing, no bullshit and honest thoughts....THANK YOU!!
Amazing playing and the tone you got is so sweet and aggressive at the same time!
I bought one yesterday because of your review, and it's like this a review and demo should be. Hope you're still enjoy to this day
I’m after a new guitar and your comment makes me want it!! What’s it like dude? I’m looking at the Crestwood too.
cool man love those dog ear P-90 classic rock tone, les paul special,
Once I stand on my feet financially I would get one of this and a Guitar amp! 👌
Fer Ramirez we are all rooting for you!

We have a similar 2018. With humbuckers 650r 700t . A Great "living room electric".
Solid tones for Blues, rock and jazz. Cheers!
Rich looks like the guy in the Zombie movies that gets bitten but doesn't tell the rest of the group until it's too late, that been said, excellent review of an excellent guitar!
I have this guitar and i cant wait to play like you!
Great playing. Great sound as always. That’s why I’ve subscribed.
Wonderful playing!
Great playing and sounds from the Epiphone LP Special, and little post script for the volume knob. I've tried for years to master the technique but finally got a volume pedal. It's a little distracting but I'm getting the hang of it.
unbelievable playing mate 👌
Thanks Chris!
very cool playing
Nice playing!
7:25 says it’s a Gibson…..Well I own one and it’s damn close.👍
Rich, that's the most IN YOUR FACE axe you've demonstrated to date!
Shame they don’t offer this model in other colors. I’d love to have a white one and a black one
Great suggestion on other colors. I thought the exact same thing, not the the TV yellow isn't beautiful and nostalgic, but variety is the spice of life as they say.
As usual a great video!
great playing
Great review Rich! Great playing as well!
Thanks!
love these and the sg's too, they are wonderful
Hey rich- eppiphone should be paying you a salary man! Great stuff! ✌🏻❤️🙏🏼 BW.
Love mine just received 2/9 . Test it out of the box . Pull those nasty strings off , clean & oil fret board . Adjust truss , bridge , pickups . BANG !
Nice playing looks good too. Great price 😎👍🏻
i wanted the epiphone goldtop 50’s standard because i love the look but for whatever reason this one felt better and more inspiring to play.
That was a sick intro.
Thanks
Way to make an epiphone sound much better than a Gibson
I think you showed a simple guitar done right is all you need.
love your playing! wow you really know were the next best note is hahaha wow!
Thanks Christine.
Awesome guitar. Sounds awesome. Have a good day
A nice guitar you are

Thats a gd sounding gd looking guitar . And p90s , no wonder its been sold out .
Did I hear some George Lynch influence in the intro solo? Great playing!
Possibly, Lynch was an early influence in my younger guitar years. Thanks!
The SG Special P90 is also pretty special and very light (if that's your thing)
Is that a stereo pair of Mountain Dew cans in the background ?
Hey Rich! How does the neck on this compare to that 50's style Gold Top you reviewed a while back? Great playing as usual!
Similar, big and fat, baseball batish. I should have mentioned that in the video, really like the neck on this guitar.
Nice Jam 👍
Not a fan of Epiphone but I have to say, this model sounds good. Have you tried the Epiphone 1955 Les Paul with the p90?
Not yet.
If You're looking for Neil Schon's signature sound.....THIS IS IT!
great demo
Loved this. Gained a subscriber.
Would this work well for pop punk do you think? I have small hands so feel neck might be tough but I love the finish so much

I was thinking to bay one of Fender Player Stratocaster but this Epiphone made me dizzy : O
I've done a vid on the explorer and the v. Coming soon.
@@RichBischoff that's good news, I'm waiting for the video : D
What pedals are you using Rich? Ive come back to this video seriously 10 or 15 times for that intro!! Man that sound is Legit.
Thanks, I think I was using the ENGL meteor amp model in Helix, with some delay and verb, but I cant remember for sure, sorry.
Ugghh I wish it came in more colors
That opening though! Great review, got mine a couple months ago and it's a stupid good guitar, I feel like Epiphone way underpriced it.
You’ve got great tone.
Great demo Rich! Might have to get one! Sounds awesome! Hey, I hit the 666 mark on the likes, lol!! 😎🎸🤘😈
Must admit that epi sounds pretty epic. When you get them for review from the shop have they been setup to dome degree or do you do it yourself..... or do you just play it as it comes? Sometimes I do little setup, but not very often .
New Sub here - Awesome playing great guitar
Thanks!
I think you had Gibson on the brain at 7:26 in.
Neck is fatter on this one, but they both played well, and build quality is great on both.
I got tribute lp 2017 not my fav. Loving all Epiphones I’ve tried basically
Here’s a scenario for you, Rich. If it was a standoff between this particular Epiphone and the Fender Modern Player Thinline Tele, which one would you choose?
Tele, because I'm more of a fender guy. That being said. These guitars are getting so good that both are just great quality guitars.
I *knew* you were going to leave a comment like that. Thank you Rich.
Great demo...hey Rich, how noisy are those P90s and how would you compare this special with the 339 P90 guitar? You should rename this channel Rich can cook....because you can really play
Thanks! P90s are just noisy in general. Both great guitars!
i listened again it's so good sounding, what amp have you used?
I dont remember, I think it was the Friedman amp model in helix.
@@RichBischoff thanks, anyway great sounding demo
Just got mine day before yesterday. I love it. Very comfortable to play! What was your setup for this?
Just helix direct, little delay added in post.
Bought mine yesterday
Congrats!
Your reviews are excellent! Could you help me to decide between epi tv special and epi 50's gold top? I'm a bass player and I want one for recording purposes. I have already a strat hss, Thanks. Unfortunately there isn't a store here to try them.
Thats a hard one. The tv yellow has the p90 pickups, but I seem to remember the goldtop felt beter/played better in my hands. But both great guitars.
@@RichBischoff that's a hard one indeed.. which of the 2 have more character and useful sound from blues to metal?
Goldtop probably.
@@RichBischoff Thank you Rich
Dude your playing is incredible. How do you think this stacks up against the muse?
Thanks, I liked this one better.
I tried muse at store for being polar yes brighter but it still held quality, my friend and I liked it. Saw Gibson 50 tv special. Sonically seem the same to Epiphones. On the fence about to scoop one of these up. Throw a super distortion p90 innit
Is this one of the guitars you still have
Never owned it. Most of the guitars on my channel are from a local store that I work with.
You've demoed both, how does this one compare to Gibson special tribute P90?
Hello , great review . Anybody has compareted this epiphone with a yamaha revstar 502?
Just got one and mine’s crazy light at 6.95lbs
Yeah that's one thing I really liked about this guitar.
Sounds great, but I suspect you could make most guitars sound great with your playing. I’d love one of these but nobody in Europe seems to have stock!
Thomann has got them in stock now, just ordered mine 😊
@@joelsjogren3285 Thanks Joel. I managed to get one from Sonovente in Paris a few weeks ago. Love it. Hope you are enjoying yours.
does it come with a distortion pedal
Yeah yellow one...
The cutaway seems to be a Florentine style rather than a typical Venetian cutaway on most LPs
Are those white dots or acrylic?
Is that your own backing track?
No, can't remember where I got it, sorry.
Really good choice for your playing
7:24 "Alright guys that is the Gibson les Paul Special in TV Yellow" :) sums it up pretty well
😁
Which would you recommend 339P 90 or this guitar, which one would you take?
Both great guitars. This one if you are going to be doing more of the rock thing.
And your soul bone's connected to your finger bones.
I’m guessing Rich liked this Epiphone as he called it a Gibson Les Paul Special which costs 4 times as much.🤩🥰🤯😊
I know this is a couple years old but I have a question. Is this p90 Epiphone better than your Epiphone Les 339 pro with p90s? I'm trying to decide which to buy. Thanks
Not better, just different. The LP special is probably a more well-rounded guitar. By that I mean gig friendly, etc.
Sweer outro backing track.
Better than the Gibson in several ways. What a shame, but a plus for players who care about feel and sound more than brand names. I have 2 of these and one Gibson and I pick up one of the Epis every time before bothering with the over-Pleked Gibson!
Esses caras aplicam uma mágica q até tonante fica com sonzera.nao desmerecendo a guitarra mas esses vídeos não servem como referência.
Rich I’m constantly staggered by your playing and the sound quality. Great work as always. You seem to have found the inspiration from this guitar that I haven’t been able to. I have one. It’s super well made. Sounds great. But it’s just not working for me 🤷♂️
@ 7.24 gibson? the guitar must have tricked you there sir
Yes indeed
