One nice thing about the Elios was you could switch from, "I need to vent heat", to, "I'm getting dripped on".
Great video! Been waiting for this one.
On the upside, the Boreo is the only Petzl helmet (good for caving) that has closed cell foam one can purchase from Petzl separately. Sadly the improved 2019 Vertex and Strato do not have this closed foam option.
Great review. I'm considering retiring my ancient Ecrin and I was considering the Vertex although it's not UIAA rated
lol@fuchsia :-D Indeed, totally unacceptable!!
This is a really amazing review! Best one I found on the Boreo
Thanks! I have more specs and compare many different helmets here: www.derekbristol.com/helmets
I use a Boreo and I enjoy it. I do agree it sticks out a bit with the foam but it hasn’t really created an issue for me. The most important thing for me is that I not feel the helmet because I’m not trying to get a migraine in the cave. The Boreo is so light, which is great.
I don’t want my headlamp mounted so that’s not an issue I can speak to.
I don’t have a big issue with sweat because I am generally fairly cool in caves. That being said, I always wear a bandana so I wonder if that could also help with someone who sweats a lot?
Fantastic review. It's a very nice helmet, though the lack of a red version is a very weird idea, since i always associated Petzl helmets with a red shell.
My Boreo is red. I guess they released it finally!
I have 3 of these… I use a black diamond as my goto. Why make a raspberry color?? Why…. My black diamond is white. It’s sucks to modify but I like it better. Why can’t we have a hybrid of BD & Petzl? Why Not??
