Where have you been...:) now you need a happy Nightwish song, so...I Want My Tears Back from this Wacken show next, it's not a cry song even though the name is about tears, it is a song where you get up an dance with Floor...it is a song where the crowd dances with Floor...:)

@@TheMiataDriver I thought it was a perfect pop-style song. Well, as pop as a metal band gets, but she took Kelly Clarkson and Lady Gaga, and cranked it up a few more notches. And Kelly and Gaga are very, very good at what they do. But Floor is the best at what she does. I couldn't ask for anything better than what she gave in Everdream.

agreed, marco actually blew my mind in that performance too. although, I've ran out of 'shudder before the beautiful' reactions to watch too. (I realise my reply here is late, but I first heard this band 3 weeks ago, and now am waiting for my tickets to arrive for 2020)

This is the song that really made me love Nightwish, it's the song that stuck out to me on Once (yes, over GLS) and I have listened to a million times...*before* I saw Floor sing it. Now I've I'm working on the next million listens.

Romanticide, performed by Floor, has quickly become one of my favourite Nightwish songs because she gives it that much needed grit! I still love the studio version with Tarja as well, but man... this one is just insane!

7 months later lol I adore this song for son many reasons, the back and forth exchange between Floor and Marco, Jukka beating the sht out of the drums, the banshee scream from Floor, Tuomas headbanging while playing masterfully, Emppu ripping the sht out of the guitar, pure perfection
I wonder if it is a good or bad sign that Ann Waychoff can't keep up with all the new NW reactions.
One thing I know for sure, Ann is and will be the Queen of Hearts in the NW community.

Greatest show on earth is long and intense, but not that much of an emotional roller-coaster.
It's a great song, a masterpiece, but more telling the story of our planet earth, so not focused on feelings of a person. The ending is intense, but like "feel good" intense, not that much for crying

I would suggest "Storytime" next. And for this song i recommend the Tampere-Live-Version because of Floor`s reference to Marylin Monroe at the end of the song ....and enjoy it when she switches the goddess-mode on at 3:52

1:10 i never thought of Tuomas that way,so you had me rolling allready 1minute in!🤣 But Tuomas is a busy man during a gig,for sure haha! 1:31 I find myself saying that repeatedly to myself,everytime i see her onstage movement,dancing,headbanging,just being her overly charming self,oh....and when she sings ofc! 7:19 Douglesby has just experienced Floor and Marcos "Lets get them!" moment😏9:34 Emppu wouldve been proud,you say it very much spot on. To say it "just right" in Finnish takes abit of practice,as they have a hard focus on the P`s and U,but internationally,thats excactly what his name sounds like. I say it just like you do man,eventhough i can "impersonate" a Finnish person saying it lol. So you`re all good to go. I also call Tuomas "Thomas" pretty often,eventhough they do focus on the TUO-mas in theyr pronunciation. Marco is probably the one guy with the most international clinging name of the guys. Well,except the funky long haired dude on the backing vocals,different flutes,pipes,low whistles,electric guitar etc on some of theyr songs,mister Troy Donockley. Theyr only international asset besides the goddess herself,Floor ofc. Jukka is pronounced pretty much straight forward (badass drummer on all of theese Wacken performances) Kai was the guy you watched drum it out at Wembley. (He came in when Jukka had to take some time off,to deal with his insomnia) Oh well,that should wrap it up for my chitchating. 9:10 🐔🐔🐔

NIghtwish are amazing and Floor is a perfect fit. Another amazing singer of the same caliber if you're interested is Roy Khan from Kamelot(Symphonic Powermetal). I'd recommend The Edge Of Paradise from their 2006 live DVD , One Cold Winter's Night. It's amazing how good he sounds live.

I'd suggest Epica - Consign to Oblivion, live at Zenith. Epica is another Symphonic Metal band, considered a bit harder than Nightwish. If you want a harder but shorter song, do Essence of Silence. If you think Romanticide was heavy, that one will crush your balls. That way you have something melodic, epic, beautiful and heavy, without turning into a Nightwish channel.
Another song I might suggest is Ayreon - Everybody Dies (live). Floor Jansen sings a cameo on that, and it's just a masterfully happy, heavy song.

nightwish has always been like a drug. tarja was your weed dealer. had the occasional shrooms or lsd drop to expand your horizons. annette, well, your dealer got busted, but you have lots of booze and some leftover pain meds from surgery 2 years ago(dont try that rl btw.). floor is your NEW dealer, and her strains are 10x as potent, with plenty of shrooms and LSD.
now then. for something to swing back to the other extreme. try one by epica. 'stabat mater dolorosa'. feat our goddess floor. just under 4 mins, BUT....

hey man im a new subscriber since seeing your nightwish reaction, i too recently got back into nightwish havent really listened to them since tarja. first listened to ghost love score with floor about a month ago and just keep listening /watching all of their live stuff since floor, actually just bought the blu rays and cds of the 3 big live shows from their merch store. hope to see more reactions to them soon

Yeah she adds a lot of distortion to her voice in this one. She can pretty much do it all, the perfect vocalist.
But it was Tarja's Operatic style that defined the band.
The Greatest Show on Earth at Tampere is a great next one to go with. That album was fully written for Floor. Also check out Epcia w/ Floor Sancta Terra

I've watched this video of theirs 20, maybe 40 times. I just noticed something.
Floor's dress came apart on stage. She was taking in big breaths and moving about, and there's a corset involved - so there's a wardrobe malfunction. Which is adorable, if you ask me.
And I've definitely watched this too many times, since I'm noticing these things. Because up until now I was basically sure this Waken show is the best thing that anyone ever made, and perfect in every way technically.
Might I humbly recommend Everdream which was set to autoplay at the end? Or perhaps Epica and their song Sancta Terra featuring Floor Jansen at the Retrospective show.
Marco can overscream every vocalist in the world, but not this one... ;-)

I would say that there is no other band who can kick their genre-borders (And do it with style) as Nighwish do.
Example Metalica, Queen and many others are big names but they repeat them self quite much...Nighwish moves between totally different genres and they feel to do it like cooking different, tasty genre-omelets at home kitchen.
Feel to hear hear more rocking style? Have a "I Want My Tears Back"(Live at Wembley 2015)
Need to have some ballad before going to bed? No problem, choose "Islander" (Live Tampere)
Like also folk-rock? Then take "My Walden" (Live Tampere)

The greatest show on earth is about the beginning of the universe, the evolution and the end of the world.
It's a hell of a long song which starts with tuomas's genious piano solo and fireworks (the big bang) . continues with stage high flames and fast catchy chorus (life came to be and evolves) . then a drum solo by Hahto. Then it stops unexpectedly (humans came to be) and continues with heavy as riff with marco singing (humans conquer the earth). Then floor sings the chorus with different lyrics (humans dont know what they are doing to earth and they dont respect it enough) Then floor makes the crowd sing along: We were here (World ends and we die.. all we can say is "we were here")
Then explosion drop, the band greet the crowd and fireworks in the northern night sky.
so yeah.. it's quite much
And i forgot to mention that richard dawkins (evolution biologist and the worlds most famous atheist speaks in the song quotes from his book and quotes from darwin)
If you watch the show from wembley dawkins is on stage. if you watch the tampere show you get the fireworks.
