actually,the story about his death in the toilet was made up by Habsburgs to shame the man and l don't understand why it is still around.Erazem/Erasmus was killed when the enemy shot the cannon,but it happened in some other part of the castle.

I am so blown by the architecture and buildings built hundreds of years ago, (in some cases 1000's of years). With no modern equipment, our ancestors were able to build such amazing structures. Unlike now, we need machinery and don't build them as nicely. Thanks for the share.

I also heard the castle had a natrual spring inside the cave which provided fresh water for the castle year round, probly one of the reasons the castle was built there.

I just googled its distance from Lake Bled, and it's only an hour and 16 minutes. I love the way this castle was built into the mouth of a cave. It would be so cool to have cave walls make up some of the walls of your castle. The antique furniture and historic artifacts along the way help illustrate the history of those who lived here. The upper level access to the cave is really cool as well. Wow!! We have never heard of a cave castle - this was very cool to see! Loved the natural aspect showing through in the architecture - how interesting!
The outhouse in question was build around 100 years after the siege... The story is an old Habsburg propaganda. Edit: the stairs are leading to the top of the cliff, the "tunnel/secret way" is bellow the castle, it begins in the "Stable".

Destroyed and rebuilt twice. The final reconstruction was in 16th century.

I love the way this castle was built into the mouth of a cave. It would be so cool to have cave walls make up some of the walls of your castle. The antique furniture and historic artifacts along the way help illustrate the history of those who lived here. The upper level access to the cave is really cool as well. Thanks for sharing this place with us!

The outhouse in question was build around 100 years after the siege... The story is an old Habsburg propaganda.
Edit: the stairs are leading to the top of the cliff, the "tunnel/secret way" is bellow the castle, it begins in the "Stable".
