In 1994 I was 7 when I first watched the original trilogy by accident, playing VHS tapes marked as soccer games when no one was home. As soon as watched that iconic scene, I was in total shock! At the time we had no cellphones so I had to impatiently wait 4 hours for my father to get home and get confirmation that was true because I just couldn't believe it. The longest wait of my life up until this moment!
This movie is everything to me, my favorite of all time for many reasons such as the iconic scene and the music which is the best in a SW movie from start to finish.
The more you watch the more questions will be answered.
    Great react! 👍
Can't wait for the next one...

    What's happening?
Yoda was testing his patience by being annoying since he have "watched" him for s while noticing that he always looked forward to the future and adventure.
    He even said that.
"All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was, hmm? What he was doing."

42 years ago, in 1980, when this film came out, the Biggest Shocker in Movie History was spoiled for me by a classmate. I had the bad sense to ask him a question, and he had the bad sense to answer me. You’re actually fortunate to have made it to this date, and to not have had it spoiled for you (“No, I am your father!” Is very common in media; it’s not easy to avoid it.)

When Vader talks to the Emperor in 'Empire Strikes Back,' what's going on is complicated. My read is this:
    1) The Emperor IS NOT telling Vader anything that Vader doesn't already know!! Note that Vader said, in an earlier part of the movie, "...and I'm sure Skywalker is with them." So Vader already knew that someone named 'Skywalker' was a Big Person in the Rebel alliance, and he probably already knew that this Skywalker was THE PERSON who destroyed the Death Star. Vader also knew that when he (Vader) was attempting to shoot down Luke’s X-Wing in 'A New Hope' that, "The Force is strong with this one." So, the Force is unusually strong with someone, who happens to have the name, 'Skywalker' - and 'Skywalker' is the same name that Vader had before he was Vader. So, Vader already knew he had a son, before he spoke to the Emperor.
    2) If Vader already knew, why did he conceal that fact, and act surprised when the Emperor mentioned it? "How is that possible?" The answer is, that both Vader AND the Emperor view each other as obstacles, to be dealt with at the proper time. Also: while Vader serves the Emperor, Vader also •hates• the Emperor, and has a different agenda than the Emperor. Vader wants to rescue Luke from death, and to kill the Emperor, and then rule the galaxy with his son - the only family he has left (that Vader knows about). That means turning Luke to the Dark Side. By contrast, the Emperor wants to remove Luke as a threat. That could mean destroying Luke, but when Vader suggests turning Luke to the dark side, the Emperor goes along with it: If Luke is converted to the Dark Side, the Emperor can "trade up" and replace Vader with "a new apprentice, one far younger and more powerful." So, when Vader talks to the Emperor, both Vader and the Emperor are "scheming past one another." Both men want a DIFFERENT final outcome, and while both want to turn Luke to the dark side, both want to use Luke for a different final purpose.

It’s not ONLY Obi-Wan who concealed the whole truth from Luke: Yoda clearly knew who Vader was. And if you carefully examine certain reactions and comments in ‘A New Hope,’ it’s pretty obvious that Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru also knew it. …Why do parents and other adults create a pretense for young children about Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy? Because they want to create and/or protect something. Now, Luke is no young child here, but the people in his life clearly also wanted to to protect something. What was it? :)

One of the ongoing themes in Star Wars is: people and situations aren't always what they seem. Clearly, that's so with Vader (in more ways than one...). Was Han the greedy, selfish smuggler you thought he was in 'A New Hope' - or did he turn out to be someone else? Was Yoda really the annoying critter pretending to harass Luke, when we first meet him? What else to come, is not what you expect?

The first time I saw someone get knocked out was walking out of the theater as a ten year old kid. We were walking past the people waiting in line for the next showing when this guy in front of me yells out the spoiler. A second later a huge dude steps out of line and lays him out...cold.

Haven't watched your video yet but I know what that "reveal" is. That _reveal_ was the biggest such reveal in movie history, I think. In any case, it was a shocker at the time. Glad you didn't know about it first because a good number of young first-timers doing SW know about that plot twist going in because it's such a cultural thing now and because of Vader's memorable words to Luke. Here we go Tobgi... pushing play! 😁
26:16 I'll tell you one thing man, your expression here at this moment in the movie has been repeated over a billion times in history now! 😁👍
27:16 I believe Luke is using his training on the Force to guide himself safely into a ventilator opening.
30:33 But dude! That big reveal was something. A lot of us were in denial too about Vader and Luke; at least for a little while. I heard there were a few fights that broke out across the country, outside the theaters when idiots leaving the movie yelled out "Vader is Luke's father!" at those in long lines waiting to get in, and pissing off the crowd for spoiling it for them.
Enjoyed it a lot. Ready to see your Return Of The Jedi. You're going to like the three prequels later too. Live long and prosper. 🖖👽

I've been meaning to write this for a while, but finally remembered to do so. What Yoda is up to when he and Luke first meet: He is playing a part where the writing is based on tale of Zen Buddhist Masters who test their new students by trying their patience, behaving in a childish manner etc. Yoda tests Luke's patience, his generosity, his humility and his diplomatic skills in this scene. Luke fails spectacularly at all of them! Another variant on the testing process is to have the student perform vast amounts of physical labour, apparently without teaching them any of the skill they were meant to learn. See "Mr. Miyagi" from 1984's "The Karate Kid".

ooooooooooooo okay that's actually nice you know. I do remember Karate kid...man that is actually good how they did that scene. That is a nice direction they went with. Also, I am glad you shared this

It is a travesty that this reaction only has 555 views after 18 months. 26:16 this is the best & most silently shown emotion I've seen from "the reveal". The tear drop 30 seconds later was an authentically brilliant reaction. For some reason the youtube algorithm isn't pushing out your videos like all the other channels. It's taken me finishing over 50 other channel reactions to finally see yours pop up. I now look forward to seeing you react to Episodes VI & III

Ya, I felt sad at the time and kinda now. I am happy you enjoyed the reaction. Yea, at the time, I couldn't understand why it wasn't getting recognized...it was definitely frustrating.
Although, right now, I am heading towards the animation side of things like Pixar and Dreamworks while keeping non-animation movies in the back of my mind. I needed to take a break from non-animation movies as that is what I spent the most time on especially when I was just having fun in the beginning.
Btw, the reactions for Episodes VI & III are on my channel; here is the playlist for Star Wars: ua-cam.com/play/PLuQToOEnqn7MlLT5kziqrPa56QatoN--g.html (Also, I will be honest episode III was edited in a different style I was trying out so not sure if you are gonna like that edit. I just wanted to be honest about that)
