  • I decided to bring the GoPro along on my trail run at Apoxee Wilderness Trail in West Palm Beach, Florida. The video is a bit long (and probably a little boring) but it shows the majority of what you will be seeing on this trail. During this time of the year (late Summer), parts of it are still a little flooded or really muddy, which makes it even more fun in my opinion. I saw a few alligators and I wasn't even on the lookout for them, so they are probably all over the place! I brought a Camelbak along with me for hydration and I ran in Vibram Fivefingers Trek Sports, which are absolutely perfect for this kind of environment. This trail is also great for hiking and biking.

This is an awesome video. Thanks for posting. I'm using/watching this during the winter while i'm on the treadmill so it feels like I'm outside. I have to ask how do you exercise knowing that alligators are near by?

They actually won't bother you and they will usually go away if you go anywhere near them, but they are always a thought on my mind. Snakes freak me out a bit more...

What do you use to keep your camera so steady? I have a strap for my chest and head but when I run and record, it's like giving the camera to Michael J Fox.

Thanks for posting this nice video. On Wednesday (3/18), I'm going to West Palm for a few days and hoping to run the trail. Do you know if it's dry or wet at this time? And also what's the Owahee bike trail like for running? Thanks.

We have had some rain over the last few weeks, but not the torrential downpours like we have during the Summer, so it's probably not completely flooded like it is during the Summer. It will most likely have lots of puddles and mud, which makes it more fun in my opinion. The Owahee trail is probably more dry and is more of a sugar sand/rocky gravel trail. My path consists of both the Apoxee and Owahee trails. You will see maps there that help you out.
