- Another one of my favourites. God I needed more scenes of them together.

It seems like no one is seeing this scene for what it really is. I just finished my second watch through and it hit my like a ton of bricks. I googled the episode all over to get some closure from the feels but nobody is saying anything about it. This scene is more heartbreaking than it is romantic. Ted never said 'Remembering this'. That little exchange wasn't real. Ted was living in a memory. Reminiscing about Tracy after her death. You can see it in his eyes, Josh captured it perfectly. Ted was literally ... 'remembering this'. It wasn't a cheesy, somewhat awkward first date sappy look. It was longing and nostalgia.

That was Future Ted thinking about this moment.
He didn't say that in that moment, his old self is actually remembering that moment
So cute. I remember watching this and thinking that we finally had our Ted back. That slightly pathetic sadsack that Ted became in the later seasons was gone, and the romantic we were introduced to in the pilot was back. Only this time a bit more mature.

Then Tracy died, Ted sat around brooding for 15 years, and then he went crawling back to Robin.
Everything about the show, I would have been happy with right up until that last ten minutes. After that, fuck this show.
She brings it back out of him.

The whole walk and specially the words "remembering this".
This is beyond perfect.
it's a great scene but the fact that the girl made the first move makes it a bit too unrealistic.

Ted was waiting his whole life for his soul mate to come, his perfect women.
And then she came and the connected so easily, she even made this first move, which suddenly fulfilled all his dreams and longings.
This scene is perfect, no matter how many times I watch it, never seize to amaze me.
She was the one who hit the breaks earlier, telling Ted she wasn't ready to be dating. So it makes sense that she had to make the first move.
That's why, when you find someone you want to keep around, you do something about it.
Man, you're so damn right!

Yeah I don’t know why they killed her. People are saying real life is hard but not all the time things are bad. Some couples are happy and together till they get old.

After so many rewatches of this show, i have so many mixed feelings but i do really love how Ted was written sometimes.
Past Ted wants to skip ahead to the ending and get married and have kids. They literally wrote a whole b-plot about how he cant wait to be an old man because you've lived your life and you dont have to experience new things. And he's sort of right to feel that way because the journey to Tracy was difficult and painful. But Future Ted is fully stuck in the past, no matter how badly Tracy didn't want him to become the guy living in his stories after she died.
This scene really is where both of those characters exist at the same time. One at the beginning of the love story he always wanted, and the other living in the love story he remembers.
The Robin ending feels different every time i watch it. Sometimes it feels wrong and sometimes it makes sense. I feel like the point is that none of these relationships cancel out the others. Ted loved Robin, Ted loved Tracy, Tracy loved Max, Robin loved Barney. I think, in the end all of them got the people they needed in their lifetimes
What a great scene and as much as I ignore that ending the finale had, God I love and miss this show.
I watched this today it made me so happy I nearly cried it’s just everything I want on planet Earth they just fit together so well and you think how long ted has been looking for real love and seeing him and Tracy like this just makes me jealous. Just so so beautiful
It just fucking hit me that he is actually just remembering this. God fucking damnit HIMYM, how u gonna blow my mind after so many rewatches
The first viewing feels cheesy, actually. Then you review it after you know the ending and... Wow, those words "remembering this" hit you like a punch.
I can't stop crying. The season finale is unforgivable. Somebody please fix it :'(

@@Aghmysternum Not really ... We just don't see the rest. In reality, Tracy will always die, and Barney and Robin will divorce.
This alternative ending is actually far from good. She only gives the spectator what she wants ... Except that life does not work like that.
By the way, Ted would never have met the mother at this wedding ... If he hadn't met Robin.

That "Remembering this" ohhh the shade. That "Come on" from Tracy which parallels the statement Ted says to Robin before becoming a couple. Tracy saying it to Ted makes her the perfect girl for him. From the beginning, Tracy knew she wants to be with Ted. 💙💙💙
He was in love with her at that moment but better she was too. She saw how he looked at her and her come on was her way of saying yes I am too. She played it cool but clearly it was real love not hook up. It made for their story that better.

I’m so sure it’s after Ted finishes telling the story that Tracy realizes Ted could be the right guy for her.

Nothing is wrong with them. Life sucks sometimes, and you just got to deal with it. That's the most important lesson of the show. And somehow people still missed it.
And then you just spoiled it...
The writers are retarded. Milioti single-handedly stole the show for the last season, and they decided that they weren't going to call an audible and rewrite that horrible ending.
And yet you are only saying that the ending is horrible like it's an absolute truth. But it's not. And you don't even say why it is horrible according to you.

The whole show is tragic. Ted has trouble with love and takes him 9 years to meet her, he is the last of the gang to meet her and he literally meets her at the end. At the end we find out she dies. I kind wish he at least met her at the end of season 8 or early season 9 so we can see more of them together.

This was so satisfying. Seeing Ted find the one after all he's been through. Then they went on and killed her. They spent the whole last season building up Robin and Barney only to end up being Ted and Robin. Fcking hell

God this is so painful and yet so touching to watch, I mean I now understand what Ted felt! It was a long journey for him, I hope I find someone just as awesome! And even though it might not be appropriate I will do the most Ted thing "Trust no Future, howe’er pleasant!

The way I see it, tracy never actually asked ted if he wanted to walk around some more. She probably just went upstairs after their kiss. Future Ted kept thinking back to that moment so much, and he was having such a hard time letting her go even retroactively to the point that he imagined their date lasting longer
This kiss was a bit too unrealistic. The girl made the first move AND then she offered to continue the date. Girls making moves like that are extremely rare.

That's the point, dude. This girl is extremely rare, unusual and perfect for Ted. I call bullshit on the 'unrealistic' statement, since in my real life I have had the honor of meeting some of the most fantastical and unlikely girls. Your statement is correct in the sense of being 'uncommon' or 'unlikely', but it COULD happen.
That happens when girl likes you. And from personal experience I know it's not unrealistic.
