Each One Teach One 5 - Eps 18: Fix and not flee

Moeletji Mapheto , from the heart of Ga-Mphahlele, Limpopo Province may be considered a born-free but the conditions of her upbringing couldn’t be further from the hope of what the “new” South Africa promised. What she has learn and is now proudly fighting for is the pride and dignity of village children around the country. As she says, “Don’t flee your village heritage, fix it, and be proud of where you come from, what we are highlighting here is that most people simply want to get out and away from this, they do not want to fix the problems in villages, they want to flee them. Moeletjie believes it is all our responsibility to recognise and support hard won dignity, empowering them to understand they have equal rights and right to access as anyone from anywhere else in the country. Based on her experience Moeletjie is now setting out to do this by taking on the responsibility of 25 learners in her village, creating a library and exposing the village kids to opportunities and the best way to present themselves to compete as they enter a highly competitive and judgemental world.
