i have never felt more connected to a band so spiritually, in a way. it aurally reflects all of my life's aspirations and the way i wish to live and exist. thanm you Robin Pecknold, and i cant wait to see you this July!
Jesus, that man is such an amazing, genuine artist... love him so much. Apparently he's living in New York now and he's recently made music for some Broadway play...
Love this guy and Fleet Foxes had the pleasure seeing the band with my lady in Manchester ….Derwent water stones is this lake District Derwent Water near Keswick and Castle Rigg stones in Keswick
Midnight in the swaying leaves midnight in the field And the moon is like a sheet covering the shield And you told me, "Come along" carrying away "To the Derwentwater stones and I know the place" All the faces in the moss look like those I've known Or like bruises on the rocks on the broken stone And the voices speak to me and the faces change And the rhododendron seeds bloom and stain the range And you tell me to be good now I'm on my own Through the red and auburn wood to the broken stone Midnight in the swaying leaves midnight in the field And the moon is like a sheet covering the shield
I think it might be Midnight in the swaying leaves Midnight in the few And the moon is like a sheep Covering the shoe And you told me come alone Ect. Everything else i hear the same as above
after reflecting on the song tonight: Midnight in the swaying leaves midnight in the field And the moon is like a sheet covering the shield And you told me, "Come along, Carrying no weight, To the Derwentwater stones." And I know the place. All the faces in the moss look like those I've known Or like bruises on the rocks on the broken stone And the voices speak to me and the faces change And the rhododendron seeds bloom and stain the rage And you tell me to be good now I'm on my own Through the red and auburn wood to the broken stone Midnight in the swaying leaves midnight in the field And the moon is like a sheet covering the shield
***** Yes, I do. By telling one person to make a difference will hopefully cause him to do the same! Even if he ignores the message, that one person that liked the post was positively affected !! You obviously need to do some self-reflecting.
TheCullousus things are usually never as bad, nor as good as we think.. I think "keeping an even keel" means this.. tough to do, but a great exercise.. life is not the destination but the journey
Hear ye, hear ye! Stop worrying about music as marvelous as this having the amount of views it does.. Why would we want such pure beauty run through the bowels of mass media? Oh and since thousands want to run to the woods and live off the land.. why don't we start our own society?
You got it. If you look on Robin's brothers (Sean's) flickr. About 3-4 years ago you will see he uploaded some pictures of Robin and Aja at the waters edge.
I'd like it like this better... Where the mainstream audience is too obsessed about Lady Gaga to listen to this beautiful music. I honestly like Fleet Foxes being a band that is not well known but loved by their fans
We need another game changer in mainstream music, like when Nirvana opened the indie scene up in the 90's. Regardless, at least we all know where it's at.
Tom T No, not yet....but maybe someday as a record store day exclusive, or a 10 year anniversary box set for Helplessness Blues. I keep waiting, and hoping 😌
Yeah, me too! I'm bummed it didn't make it onto the forthcoming retrospective collection they are releasing, that seemed to be a very appropriate place for something like this. I guess it didn't make it because it is Robin just solo. Shame though, this is one of the best songs Robin has written.
Tom T This song was written during the Helplessness Blues era, so if it’s to be found on a 10 year anni box set it’ll be for HB, possibly along with “I’m Losing Myself” and the cover of “ Where Is My Wild Rose”, recorded during that same time period 😊
Damn! At 1:32 you can really hear the fledgling riff that turned into 'Jara' in Shore by Fleet Foxes.
@@bephanie I can hear that… Just mean it’s really prominent in the instrumental.

this song is proof of how beautiful our existence is.
erickrokyson What a profound sentiment ❤
Still true

Midnight in the swaying leaves
midnight in the field
And the moon is like a sheet

And you tell me to be good

Through the red and auburn wood

Why is he a god
Gotta love Robin! If you like him, another awesome singer-songwriter is Ron Sexsmith!
I'd like it like this better... Where the mainstream audience is too obsessed about Lady Gaga to listen to this beautiful music. I honestly like Fleet Foxes being a band that is not well known but loved by their fans
I live around 40 miles from Derwent Water. Feels more relatable
I would still love it. but i see what your saying.
Jara
Haha! I was thinking the exact same thing 🙂

In Love
@Steoandnoodles1 he said in twitter that he might be doing a solo project after the tour
wow!
Imagine this song had over 400 million views, like one of those Lady Gaga videos. How different things would be..
this song should be over 5 minutes long atleast
Need to go to the woods for awhile. Plant some corn. Grow a beard. Something like that.
When and where :D?
Such a beautiful song, was this released on CD in any form?
